Two things:

First -- How do I get a controller icon to pop up by my name on the Leaderboard list for each Time Trial?

Second -- My Division icon is still showing that I am unplaced. When will that change now that I have a Division?

I hate to ask a stupid question, but is the registry open again? Because I'd love to be able to find out where I would rank up.

It should show up next time you post splits. You can try reposting your existing splits if you don't have new ones. From the leaderboard/Fetchy's point of view, all Rookies were still unplaced until Vaxen updated the Registry thread last night.

Yes it's open and it's easier than ever to get started:

Not sure where to go with this, but I can't see the attachments so I know what to do. It says I don't have permission to view it.

Thanks, mate! I guess what I'm wondering is this: The cars and tracks we use for the Best lap/ Ghost replay still the ones form the original post?

Not necessarily - I think they can be any best lap replay, but I'm not sure.

Yes, any car, any track, the only thing that matters is that it's a best-lap replay and you use your PSN account that you plan to use with WRS events.

The M3 at Brands Hatch and the Megane at Streets of Willow are no longer a part of our qualification process.

Try reposting your splits.

Vaxen had not updated the registry on Monday, he did it right before making this post.

Your splits post was made about 15 hours before that.

OK to just repost your current (previously posted) splits, and the board should pick it up and show your division.

I just saw that Vaxen had posted the qualifier results up so off I went to have a look at the top of D2 since my published handicap was 2.032, but I couldn't find my name?!?!? Was about to post a message to ask if I'd been missed off, when I saw this...

GTP_Gravitron / Gravitron 2'46.215 (1.906)
GTP_CarlosF / Carlos Fandango 2'46.232 (1.914)
GTP_Eternal / Cats_PJs 2'46.327 (1.958)

So off I go to check the Official Registry...

GTP_viper84 / viper84 / Germany (2.002 / 2.187)
POLISET / Ayhancan1998 / Turkey (TR) (2.017 / 2.017)
GTP_Holty / Holty / UK (2.025 / 2.025)
GTP_CarlosF / Carlos Fandango / UK (2.032 / 2.042)

So now I'm just confused. Did I qualify at 1.914 or 2.032? For the record, I'm perfectly happy in D2 and in no way consider myself a D1 driver. Sorry if there is an anomaly to account for this that's already been covered.

Hi Carlos,

I'm glad you asked this question, as it allows me to explain in more detail how the qualification system works.

The short answer is that the qualifier is fluid and the cutoffs change over time. More submissions are added to the pool as more players join the registry, and this has the effect of changing the statistical model and the cutoff times drift over time.

The data from both GT5 and GT6 indicates that those who participate in the qualifier when it is first available run faster. While we don't know for certain why this is true, my best guess is that this is likely because they spend more time on it.

However, once your qualifier is submitted and accepted, the published handicap is "frozen." You can earn a promotion through running events as always, but your qualifier handicap will never change. The handicap printed in the Official Registry is your handicap when you submitted. The handicap published in the qualifier results is what it would have been when evaluated against the entire set of submissions.

Note that there are a dozen or so qualifiers who were right on the D1 bubble when the qualifier initially went live, who, like you, would have been placed in D1 had they held onto their run and submitted it just before we closed it. While the system is not perfect, I feel strongly that by going with a statistical analysis of the times as they are submitted, we will get a better result than a human drawing the lines somewhere. Not just for the qualifier, but for all events.

We have seen great results since we dropped the qualifier as a barrier to participation in the WRS, adopting instead a "rookie" system. For future iterations, we'll likely keep the qualifier for the initial placement, but then switch over to the rookie run system soon after the WRS events themselves start.

Thanks for the response Vaxen. I think, like you, that the qualifier focuses the mind and as a consequence, I spent around 4 hours on each one. I consider 4 hours to be representative of the maximum amount of time that I could spend on any weekly event. Agree that the new registry system has massively increased participation, with the added benefit of being completely future-proof 👍

Nice for releasing the qualifier result @Vaxen, I've read your explanation and Im not quite sure I fully understand, but let me paraphrase to see if I get it. My qualifying handicap (and many others) was lower than the released handicap, from your explanation this happens because when other people keep submitting their results even after the initial qualifier this shifts the initial handicap? So for example my qualifying result was 1.791 but because other people qualified later on this shifted to the 1.644 posted in the results? Is this correct?

Anyway In my opinion I think the rookie system is better as it forces people to put in the effort to show their real abilities. The qualifier is a bit misleading because people may get bored of competing with themselves and probably leave too much time out there.

But all in all I don't I did pretty good on the qualifier. I was a bit scared that I would be more than 6s off when @EDK said said Twissy blew everyone away

You got it. In my case, when I submitted in the first wave, my handicap was 4.060. Thanks to a bunch of slower times coming in when the qualifier was reopened, it would have been a 3.842.

I was quite disappointed in my qualifier results, but that might have been because I wasn't used to the new-to-the-series cars and tracks, while the time trials have been more along cars and tracks I'm used to.

Hello guys. I would like to know if I could qualify for the registry as someone who's already registered. I ask because not only was my last qualification done via the GT5 qualifiers (which would obviously be obsolete), but I also am doing so using a wheel now as opposed to the DS3 I used before.

Our new process involves you participating in 3 weekly events of your choosing, and then you are placed in a division based on how you've done in those.

Oh, so I can just skip these then. Thanks 👍 I read this before (back when it was first posted) but didn't have a wheel at the time so I didn't attempt to qualify for GT6.

After 36 weekly TTs completed, I had the idea to do a haphazard summary by picking those things from the posts and results boards that I found most interesting. Like so:

Track types

City: 6 (17%)
Original: 11 (30%)
World: 18 (50%)
Special: 1 (3%)

Stock vehicles used*: 17
Average allowed power figure (time trial): 386 bhp

Submissions final

Total: 2025
Average per event: 56
Most submissions: week 1, 144 replays
Most disqualifications: week 10, five

*...
Does not mean there were 19 all out tuning events. I counted all courtesy cars as stock in addition to those that would be able to enter an online event that only used "tuning prohibited" as a restriction.

Im trying to register but when I try to upload a file, since yesterday appears this:

Any idea??

OK so I'm going to ask what may seem like a stupid question, but I just want to confirm so that I can compete with limited hassles to everyone.
I have read the forums and above posts, I just need confirmation, for myself and 2 other returning GTP_"members".

I am a member of the GTP and will be using my GTP_ account.
I have not competed in the WRS since GT5.

As far as I can see, all I need to do is start posting my times in the weeks event and then after successful submission of 3 weeks times, I will be placed into a division, before such time comes I will be placed on the leaderboard as a rookie.

Is there anything I have missed or any other emails / PM's I need to send to anyone like Fetchy before I start posting?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers All !!!
