So, who still needs to buy a car?
I suggest to do your testing at Autumn Ring. The Deep Forrest target is very easy to reach. I found a car that was perfect there at 445PP only to be 1.5s too slow at Autumn Ring :(
The 350Z or 370Z should be pretty good for this.
I still need to buy one. the 350z was on my list, but for just 2k more there's the Camaro SS '10, which has ~498pp so it will also be good for future cups that need more pp...and it will come in handy if there is a US cup. I still only tested at DF and was having trouble keeping it below the cap. But I followed the advice posted here and am now testing on CS tires. Very good advice. hahaha I'm almost in the sweet spot of PP to be as close to .34 without having to "sandbag". I'm confident that by the end of the day, i'll have the right PP down. And if you're saying that AR is harder to reach the cap than I can just up the PP a bit. ... Am I making the right move here, planing ahead for a future US cup/ High PP cup? Or do you guys think the Camaro is a tad overpowered and I should find another car?
I tried the '99 Silvia but it was too fast as well, and even though it's cheaper it doesn't have a lot o future possibilities. :/

Yesterday I made some laps with the S2000.Both at Autumn Ring and Deep Forest in full pp and CS I'm 2 seconds faster than the cap.I have a lot of detune-testing to do.

I don't know what the future races will be but I suspect there will be something with higher PP and/or US built cars.
The Camaro, Challenger, and the Charger are all on my list.

I am sure noone blocked by me and I was 100% clean all the time.By the way someone with a Silvia ruined mine and others people race by turning on me at Eiger. That caused massacre on first lap and we couldn't go anywhere.I would report this but I don't think he did it on purpose.

I think there was a few small mistakes which caused the incident(s) in the first hairpin, not one person's fault in the Eiger massacre, play the Benny hill music while watching it from about 6 drivers views .

I totally agree!!I eased as well a couple of times but we are talking about couple tenths of a second.(I guess early shifting sometimes it's not bad)

NOTE: "Driver" received a 30 second penalty at Suzuka East and 15 second penalty for his qualifying time for going against the spirit of the rules.
Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
Short shifting and not running your car to the potential is not the aim of the series, he understands that now and it was a genuine mistake in general, but it will not be tolerated and as the penalty applies they will be hard. If anyone finds that they have made a mistake and there car is running way to fast for a track's capped lap time please be respectful and do what you think is best as severe penalty's will be handed out including race or championship DQ's

This was a penalty giving out to a driver after the Suzuka East race, there should be no need to short shift.

Ill try and clarify what the Championship is trying to avoid and this for all drivers regarding the capped lap times.

What you should not be doing as this is going against the spirit of the Championship
  • Short shifting
  • Braking before the start finish line constantly
  • Coasting on the straights constantly
  • Basically not driving to yours and your cars potential to gain an advantage.
I don't fancy having to go through every drivers replay after each race to check that they are not doing any off the above and to tell you truth I wont do it, i'd rather just cancel if that's the case.

Please have your cars set so that you can stay under the lap time's so you have no need to slow on every lap. I understand that you can all of a sudden find time on a lap and get surprised by draft so there is allowance for that.

On a Brighter note.

Well Done @Gameratwork99 👍 for been the first person after 9 races to get the 20000 cr bonus for running a lap .001 slower than the capped time without going below it.

Great practice session, we had 7 guys on the track at one point :)

I tested few more cars: Camaro SS '10 is cheap, fun to drive, and more than fast enough on CS tires.
Charger was too slow but Challenger was pretty much right on the cap limit.
Lexus IS-F can reach the lap limits but it's not much fun, all M3s can do it but they are expensive.

I know right? I was pleasantly surprised by it. I thought it would be too heavy and sluggish, and it would require all my concentration to drive competitive against other people. But it's actually pretty fast and precise. I like it a lot. :D:tup:

I had 20 minutes before dinner, so I took the Sylvia onto AR. I've been driving it under-powered for so long that it took me the entire 20 minutes to get even close to cap! (33.8xx)

The laps I spent spinning out made me think I'd have to bite the SH bullet, but I listened to @roamer2629's advice to use them only as a last resort and kept going.👍 I proved to myself that I can at least get under 1:34 and that lap was still rough. Now I need to take it online and practice, practice, practice.:)

Well I feel responsible now :D
If you want to listen to other opinions, you should ask Ruz: He was running SH on his Silvia at AR yesterday...

I thought the S15 could easily do all the tracks but I guess I haven't tested all the 445pp tracks enough. It was great at 415pp. Did it lose some of its predictability with the power cranked up?
I also thought running SH tires would be a disadvantage but Ruz proved me wrong by winning a test race at Apricot Hill :)

It can do all races on CS tyres I think but I don't want to take the risk of spinning wheels and ruining the race over the course of 15 laps. I had similar problem in the grand valley race and the Stowe race I cannot hold the CS overheating so I will be going with less power and SH tyres and be consistent rather than go beyond capped lap time one lap and be 2 seconds slower on the next lap with CS tyres. Hope that clarifies my strategy if any of you guys think I am gonna run a fast car on SH tyres.
Edit:- the apricot hill I guess it was not consistent for others but I was 1 second of until last few laps off the capped lap

That's what I was trying to tell Crispy, I regretted the decision when I took it but Ruz seems ok with it so you might want to try it out (He is a lot faster than me, you know?). Sorry if my advice was misleading, but I still feel it's the way to go...:scared:

The Autumn Ring might not have enough straights for cars with more power to get advantage. It looks like a car that corners well can win races despite power disadvantage (as proven by you at Eiger).

You could be right: I had an overtake opportunity at the end of the straight almost every lap, but Ruz did a great job of protecting the inside line at turn 1, then he could pull away at the esses.

No worries. I was going to try the Sylvia on CS tires either way. You just convinced me to try them a bit longer.;)

That is great justification for SH at lower power. Consistency is my Holy Grail! :D

Just to keep you all informed the results for the 80's - 90's Cup could not be available for a few days, my laptop packed in Monday and now more good news that my internet (and cable TV) have gone down due to them doing maintenace in the area and it could be a few days before its back online.

Fingers crossed for before Sunday as ive not tested my Hyundai yet :).

Edit: If you wish to sign up early for the FR event this Sunday you can use the 80's - 90's regestration form, just type FR cup in the comment section on the form.
