Vehicle Specifics:

  • Power: 295 HP (Stock Car with Oil Change Only)
[*]Engine, Intake, Exhaust or Turbo Modificaitons: Prohibited

  • Hmm, after a slight suspicion about the restrictor available since the update, I tuned my car with all removable power upgrades and then restricted back to the original 295bhp, and found that I was able to retain the full torque benefits of the upgrades. :indiff:

Am I right in assuming that this is definitely not allowed, and also is there any way of checking this to ensure the competition remains fair?

Edit: On double checking I've found that this still leads to an increase in PP though, is this sufficient for verification of setup?

It's all in the first post man.

Back on again for 20mins or so, and i must have peaked now..... Slower to T1, smoked T2 and the rest of the lap.... T3 was as good as it gets.

    Absolutely stoked.

    T1: 15.346
    T2: 34.639

Great stuff osrg, really good time. May I ask if you were using the stock gearbox or your own creation?

Problem is, Paulie, that if anyone does these mods, then restricts back to 295bhp - there appears to me (at the moment) that there's no way of telling from the replay. Only info on the replay is Power and weight, as far as I can see. :indiff:

Edit:
But until someone does some proper testing, it's probably best not to jump to any conclusions.

Holy crap! I'll bet your stoked... and you were knocking it on the head a few days back  Amazing split times, man... and if that T3 is as good, you've creamed the rest of us in D2. 👍 :ouch:

I think you may just have put D2 gold position out of reach. Well for me anyway.
Me too. :yuck: :)

That was my concern, however a lot of the gain in torque comes from the exhaust/ECU, which can both be seen in the replay, but I have no idea how much torque you gain from the irreversible engine tuning.

Here's my new splits. I think I've finished the tuning except the gearbox, it still perplexes me slightly. So far the stock gearbox has been best as its ratios are near perfect for this event and has the added bonus of not screaming in your ear. I was getting close-ish to my limit tonight, but I'll be having another go for sure.
T1- 15.354
T2- 34.645

I also shaved 4 tenths at the line on my previous best. Although I did run about half a foot wide on the last corner I don't think it's cost me much time. Or was that another lap I ran wide? I don't remember now, but it was a darn good T3 regardless. I have seen quite a few high 15.2s at T1, if I could capitalise on one of them and get a 34.5 T2 I'd be extremely happy.

Edit: I'll ask again as well, is everyone adding their first and second sector times together in the replay to find their T2 time?

How can you tell that from the replay?

No, I'm subtracting my T3 time from my final time 👍

You must have good eyes then, the replay starts to fade out before you even cross the line.:D I wonder if it makes a difference, if the total T2 time is the same whether you add T1 and T2 together or subtract T3 from the total time.

Yeah stock mate.... i honestly can't see that tweaking the box is gonna see me shave any more off the time.

I'm quietly confident that the T3 will hold up with the very best... i made ALOT of time through T2 to the line.... a hell of a lot.

Paulie, on the run i had earlier tonight that saw the 34.639..... i'd run a 34.528 to T2 the previous lap, only to mess the final hairpin up. Early this arvo i saw a 15.277 to T1.... but T2 was mediocre. The gains are sooo marginal at these sort of times, but the losses are huge. I'm fairly consistent across the lap, but it's so bloody easy to butcher the lap, and you could run a thousand laps trying to get the 3 sectors right with no success.

That's a hella quick time, and you say you're starting to peak? No way, if I had run a time like that I'd be hounding a 34.5 until I pulled it off.:sly: You'll be D1 in no time, I'm surprised you started D2 at all actually, you've always been roughly equal with me in most time trials, if not a little faster when you want to be.

I honestly cant think of a witty response to your question Sorry :(

Damn, I just thought of a setup change worth trying. No damn it, I'm done for tonight.:banghead:

Thanks for the props...... but i always had a sneaking suspicion that i was a D2 Gold man all along.

As for the 34.5..... i couldn't be arsed. I destroyed a DFGT in anger on Tuesday night, and i don't wanna stoop to that level of mental anguish again:crazy: Besides, this arvo/evening has been good for my soul, i don't want to ruin the feeling!

My current submitted lap i smoked T3 big time, T2 was right on the money as well, and the chances of me duplicating that are that close to 0% that it doesn't matter. It's very hard to run metronome like laps when you're pushing like all get out, just to find a few hundreths.

I have two Z28's. I will see if I have the time to test if upgraded ECU's and other stuff and the limit engine power have any effect and if it can be discovered.

I found with just the reversible mods i gained ~20% torque, but the torque curve becomes much sharper so you lose out low down. I think in this particular instance any gains would be minimal, I was more worried for future events.

Wow, seeing the leaderboard after 2 days off and it seems that a lot of div 2 & 3 racers were slacking at the Nurb qualifiers and/or put and incredible amount of effort on that 1st event :D:

Incredible times so far

154 splits on the leaderboard and more than 800 posts in the combo thread ... looks like we're in a new Gran Turismo era 👍

Submitted for the first time to FetchBot (great work Joost!) pretty early because I'm off to Norway for a week in the snow.

Good luck to all in the final days of the first GT5 WRS combo.

If I'm doing around 72 mph towards the end if the last corner is that about right. I normally enter at 84, natural scrub slows me down to 72, I honestly can't go any faster.
Also 38 at the first, 41 at the second and holding on for dear life on the third hairpin.
I've had to release how I drive, I naturally go inside to out, and tried outside to in and it seemed more consistent. Spent an hour stuck in third gear just trying to retrain myself.

T1: 15.512
T2: 35.198

Just cant get all the sectors well:ouch: and the last curve is killing me.
When i´m getting away from the ghost i always break late and ending on the wall :indiff:

Anyone else see the news that replay downloads from seasonal events are disabled "temporarily"?

I have a feeling this is going to be an issue.

EDIT: You can still save your own, you just can't see others'. Whew.

That's just for online replays for the folks that have set the fastest times on the leaderboard - it won't affect your own replays that you've saved from this event :)

Did you post any splits Steve mate? Can't see 'em anywhere... or is it a secret? Have good time anyway :)

Small improvement, still can't bring myself to like this car, love Tsukuba though! :)
