Wow this is a very enjoyable combo. A challenge to keep this beast controlled, the nose pointed where you want it. These are my first splits:

T1: 15.457
T2: 34.816

Go go WRS!!! :D

Right, well I just took the car out on practice mode to get re-aquainted and after an oil change I have 298bhp!

Why bother putting oil change in the OP if you were never meant to break the engine in in the first place!? New engines don't need an oil change.

Waste of time and money. 👎

I'm sorry that it hasn't worked out for you, but please don't be taking this out on us.

The seasonal TT that we are using is one of very few options open to us in order to run WRS to the standards we have in the past, and the Camaro new with oil change brings it right up to the maximum 295HP allowed in that particular seasonal combo. This is a way for us to avoid members making engine or turbo or any HP upgrades, only the other modifications mentioned.

Can you appreciate the work that Kevin has put in to this in order to find something that fits perfectly with what we have available to us, to ensure as level a playing field as possible and to keep WRS as fair as it has been? I think he's done his best, I really do. If it requires a little bit of understanding and adjustment to make WRS work in GT5, I believe we all owe it to him to be patient and pay closer attention to the regulations than maybe we have in the past 👍

I hope Roh you can sort it out and get yourself in amongst the runners this week, or at least create a mega drift video :)

All the best

Thanks for getting this up so quickly guys 👍
Can't wait to get cracking with it tomorrow!
I think there will be PP making a return in the next patch so that could be used for later WRS events, no?

Sick, I can get some runs underway before I go back to university.

Question, will Week 2 be posted next Sunday so there is some overlap or will it be posted after the deadline?

Just want to understand the basic scheduling of WRS!

That's right mate, week 2 will be up on Sunday and there will be an overlap 👍

I wasnt having a go Maz, I appreciate all of you here at the WRS! I was merely frustrated at having to buy a third chevy! My GTP account is secondary for GT5 so I'm literally at level 1. (edit: no it isnt lol.. I had to do seasonals to get to level up and run the qualifier! D'oh! Still on beginner league though) Money is hard to come by and tuning parts arent cheap!

I also had absolutley no idea you could oil change a brand new car. That doesnt even make sense to me, never mind it boosting bhp! ?? Maybe the OP could be even more clear to prevent future accidents. We have a lot of brand new members coming to WRS so clarity is paramount. I'm not suggesting they're all as stupid as I am but just to be safe

As for a drift vid, how do you think my chevy got broken in in the first place ;) I was seeing what the old girl could do! :D

An interesting thing you mentioned there though was the use of these seasonal TT's to ensure no foul play. Does that mean WRS will always be ran online in future? And only within the seasonal events? It sounds restrictive to me so finding creative combos will be even harder :(

It certainly is proving to be quite useful for now, but hopefully with the PP system and the update, more options will be open to us. That, or when they better show in replays what aids are being used by drivers, then we can really open it up 👍

Great, really looking forward to this!

Could someone please explain the "ride height bug" mentioned in the vehicle specifics? I am new with the WRS and I am not sure what is meant.

"# In Event Tuning Settings: Optional - NOTE: Any tuning gimmicks that offer an unfair advantage (i.e. the ride height bug) are not allowed."

I have not heard of it before and there is no further clarification in the first post with all the rules & regulations.

To further complicate this for me, it mentions "in event tuning" at that line in the regulations where the "ride height bug" is mentioned, so this has to do with the RA function then, right? As far as I know I cannot alter the ride height while driving, just things like traction control, 4WD settings (if any obv.) and brake balance.

Also, what other things would be considered "tuning gimmicks" related to "in event tuning settings"?

Sorry for seemingly to be moaning about this, but I honestly don't know what to make of that rule. So, an explanation or a link in the regulations where to find the clarification would be really helpful for me. Thanks!

Hey chaps, great to have the WRS running again.

Fun car to drive but I must admit to not being a big fan of Tsukuba.

First go:

T1: 15.626
T2: 35.480

A lot of time to find but maybe not for me. :) Good to be back anyway.

I've had a quick recon' and I'm looking forward to having a proper session. The set up is a bit pricey but hey,.....

T1: 15.805
T2: 35.679

Good to have WRS up and going again, good job admins.

This is only the first week of WRS in GT5 and I find it very disconcerting members are thinking and taking of bugs and gimmicks that would give someone an unfair advantage.

As a member of WRS you are expected by the other members to stick to the OLR rules, if you find a bug that you know would give you an advantage over anyone else, your expected to be a gentleman and not use it.

If someone in D4 is all of a sudden putting in time of D1 there is almost surely something wrong.

Please let all just stick to the combo as set out by Kevin, and run the WRS as per the OLR rules.

Phillip.

My first WRS!!

My first splits (using the DS3)

T1: 15.822
T2: 36.505

Lot's of work to do yet... I will have to get the wheel setup tomorrow.

I think the final sector is going to be really critical for a good final time though. My fastest overall times were not those with my fastest 1st & 2nd sector times.

I tried out your setup Small_Fryz, I don't know how you can drive it like that. For me that was very unstable. I couldn't beat 16.4 for T1 using that. Default custom suspension was more stable and faster for me.

Without providing a road-map as to how to cheat (as Kevin puts it), that kind of thing is what we're referring to. If you have discovered something that is so counter-intuitive and against logic in the settings like unrealistic ride heights as you've mentioned, that's what we mean as a gimmick that goes against the spirit of the rules.

I think that means when you are actually in the event page, not necessarily driving around the track. The page where you can choose driving options, settings, save replay etc.

Also, what other things would be considered "tuning gimmicks" related to "in event tuning settings"?

Again, we're not interested in producing an A to Z of exploits, just make sure if you're playing with the setup you are not deliberately using known exploits to gain advantage. Known exploits usually involve outrageous settings for particular parameters, and fly in the face of setup logic. So if you've got slightly more camber than usual or you like a lot of negative rear toe, don't worry we're not trying to strangle folks here 👍

Looks like I have some work to do...

T1: 15.963
T2: 36.034

Keep at it 👍 Please also include your Division and control device in your signature for the benefit of the venerable Fetchbot :)

I just noticed that driving in the Seasonal Event section as indicated in OP does add miles to the car. I'm only at 50 km on the car and no power change yet but am I doing something wrong? I'd like to avoid putting myself in a situation where I have to re-buy the car for the competition :).

Edit: to be super clear, bought the car this morning, new oil, new comfort tires, lowered weight, started the seasonal event time trial 7 on Tsukuba!

EDIT: Can you all please check that running the TT has not added distance or altered your HP? Starting to doubt myself here! I'm wondering if the distance indicator is changing but no actual break-in or HP change is occurring...which still suits our purposes nicely.

Just checked mine. 73.1 miles and I've done nothing outside the TT event.

No change in HP though.

Ok then I think we're still good. Distance is added but no HP change. Phew!

Thank you 👍

I have only run TT and am up to 50 ish, but as with Dude no real change in HP. One screen in the garage says I have 294 whereas another says 295. I'm a little bit confused but as long as I don't go over the limit I guess it doesn't matter :).

Yeah I have also noticed there is some discrepancy in what it says in the garage, on the list and in the actual settings page.

All we ask is that people buy the car brand new, do the oil change and then just get stuck into the time trial. The rest I fear is not in our control and is down to the good will of the competitors 👍

So let me see if I understood right.

*Buy Camaro Z/28 in the Premium dealership.
*Go to GT Auto, Oil change it and add the front spoiler, A or B are the same thing. Paint and change rims at will.
*Go to tuning shop. And add:

Weight Reduction Stage 3
Window Weight Reduction
Carbon Bonnet
Rigidity Improvement
Fully Customisable Transmission
Twin Plate Clutch
Semi Racing Flywheel
Fully Customisable LSD
Carbon Propeller Shaft
Fully Customisable Suspension Kit
Comfort soft tyres.

*Then use the tune from an expert if you aren't one yourself. So far, the only one I've seen in this thread is this one. (I'll do everything like in the tune, except the power upgrades :dunce:).

Maz, could you confirm if this is the right way to go? And thanks to all WRS Admins and Kev for putting this thing together 👍.

PS: Could someone remind me of the leaderboards URL? I haven't seen it anywhere, though it's quite possible I overlooked it, and I don't have it bookmarked. Thanks in advance .

Fixed ;)

And remember go straight to the time trial, not offline practice or any A-spec/B-spec running etc

A little tip to save you a few moments: hit the save button once you've added the parts and quit the Tuning Shop. I had a go at this earlier then switched off the PS3. Just switched it back on for another go and the upgrades were gone so I've just had to buy them all again (apart from the front spolier from GT Auto).

I suspect that this might be why there's a minor confusion over the mileage too as my car shows 0 miles. If you just do the TT and then switch off, the game doesn't save automatically.

Synwraith & dranddad thanks for your replies!

I absolutely am not looking for ways to cheat, I am just trying to make sense of what is in the regulations. I for one am the greatest advocate of fair racing, so please don't mind me asking about something which is not clear to me.

Re. the "ride height bug", I usually drop my car down as low as possible on a flat track like Tsukuba, but when there was somekind of bug mentioned regarding the ride height, I was starting to wonder if I was doing something illegal. Additionally that link that I posted to another item in the forum was to show I did some searches on the forum and I thought that might relate to this thing. I see people getting loads of nasty comments all the time because others on the forum feel they did not do proper research or read the forum 24/7 when they have asked a question which was aksed once before, but the poster did not know or mention that...

So anyways, instead of looking for ways to cheat, I am trying to do the exact opposite, I just want to stay away from it as much as possible. I just hope for a fair competition and also an atmosphere of encouragement so everybody can become a better driver, but perhaps that was not apparent from what I had written in my post. Anyhow, thanks!👍

Struggling pretty bad on this one :scared:

15.568
35.204

Tried some setups who were posted here but that made it only worse. Then tried changing some things myself wich made it slightly better :embarrassed:

Same for me here Manuelos.

Just tried to minimize the oversteer and now feel a little better.
