We can debate about that, in my perspective maybe talent is part of the formula to succeed but I give it only a 10% (only to say a percent), some time ago I said to Maz that even a monkey can get a top spot if you train him enough

, probably I was exaggerating but I think a 50% or so of that formula is on practicing (it's the biggest percent), a 10% goes for theory and probably the most important and last 30% goes to know where one is losing time.
Probably my formula is wrong but it's what first comes to my mind.
If you quickly know where you are losing time due to your practice/experience you'll achieve fast times quickly, it isn't all about talent.
For some people talent is to correct the erratic car driving line, acceleration and braking points as quick as possible, but you can achieve that with practice and experience.
Some people can correct those errors with few practice, in my opinion that's what talent is all about but once again you can correct those errors with few practice if you have a lot of experience.
In the end who is faster is who accelerates first and who brakes less and later, you can check this out in the replay data, there's few talent involved but you'll find practice and experience there.
40 years old, uh? you're younger than me.
