Since you've got so much extra time, Wes, how 'bout some tips? :P

Like, for the right hander just after the monkey branch, just before the 2nd tunnel...brake tap, or not? Stay in 3rd with just a lift and quick back on full throttle?

For the next hard left after that, between the 2nd and 3rd tunnels...stay in 3rd again with just a tiny brake tap, and try to hug the wall on the left, going into the painted line area?

----
Sounds like a nice plan, Chuk. 👍 :)
Nice progress from lots of folks.
For what it's worth:

T1: See Chris' Video.:P

T2: Stay on the right on entry to the first corner, tap the brakes + throttle and use the curb to make the car oversteer. This is not easy and some luck is required as well.. But you'll need it to get the most out of that corner.. Apex speed: 58-59 Mph.
Control the oversteer with the throttle and stay on the left at the exit. You can't go off with 4 wheels there so you can cut as much as you can at the entry of the next corner. A light tap of brakes + throttle is enough. Apex speed: 73-74 Mph.
Use as much of the track as possible but not too much as you need to go back to the right in time for the next left-hander. This corner is pretty tricky. Turn in hard just as you're about to go into the tunnel, don't brake but stay lightly on the throttle (about 1/4, 1/5) and power out when you feel you won't hit the wall on exit. On my fastest lap I stayed close to the wall on the left but a later apex may be better, a tap on the brakes may be required if you do that however. Apex speed: 78 Mph.

T3: I don't have a braking point for this, I just brake and hope I hit my braking point correctly. I use my speed for reference though which is about 137-138 Mph. Brake while turning lightly into the turn and just try to be as smooth as possible with your inputs.. braking too early can cost you some time here. Apex speed: ~67 Mph (I didn't hit the apex correctly on my fastest lap.)
Full throttle through the chicane and begin braking at the top (or slightly before) of the hill. If you're fearless on the brakes you can gain maybe 0.050 but it's risky here.. Use some throttle to stabilise the car. Apex speed: 62 Mph.

T4: Use as much of the track as you can on exit and turn back to the right for the next left-hander. The main priority here is not to brake too early. Use about 1/2 braking and some throttle to stabilise the car while braking. You don't need to hit the apex perfectly here as long as you don't touch the curbs at the apex. Apex speed: 64-65 Mph.
Nervous from the incredible splits you just ran you think: don't screw up, don't screw up.. Don't let the nerves get you and flirt with the wall on the right to maximise entry speed.. Turn in when you know you should turn in (this can be hard, especially with the nerves but I don't have any references for this).. Don't brake or very light tap on entry to the chicane, stay on the throttle.. First apex speed: 111-113 Mph... Full throttle till the finish line.. second apex: 116 Mph.

Hope this helps.:)

Love it, and I haven't even read it yet!:D

Now I'll go commit it to memory. 👍

Thanks Wes!

Some new splits!

T1: 18.696
T2: 28.939
T3: 24.275

Much better. Have seen T1 times of 18.1xx and 18.2xx but can't string them together with the rest! Very happy. Have beaten both my targets I set with this lap, but I know there is still more time out there....

Gotta say a big thanks to Chris for his video and to Wes for his words! Much help and very useful ;)

Very nice explanation Wes.

It appears I'm approaching the lap correctly, just have to execute it perfectly sometime in the next couple days. Sounds easy enough.

Thanks a lot Wes.
According to the explanation, I was doing it wrong at some points...
Now to try it like you wrote it. :) :scared:

19.325
29.310
24.643

New fastest lap

18.640
29.370
25.071

And the lap is half a second faster overall AAArrrrgh:crazy:

Means there is another half second to find......

18.424
28.772
24.305

PB in t3 by a touch and absolutely crushed final sector for another PB. First half of lap has 2 awful corner entries. Getting tough but I did blow a 46.8/1'11.1 and haven't been close to that otherwise in a long session of 60 laps tonight.... :banghead:

18.416

Really should do this more often. :dunce:

Edit: Submitted as I have an extremely busy weekend ahead, should put me back where I belong come results time... Bottom of D3, good luck all. 👍

Had a decent run linking t2, 3 and 4 together but was 3 tenths slower through t1 - for a tenth at the line.

Was about to call it a night and then managed these:

T1 18.372
T2 28.843
T3 24.335

Was not tidy through t1, but somehow the time was ok, hit the braking point before the uphill section, and managed to hold the ghost off til the line for 2 tenths. :)

Damn, i need to start getting on these WRS events earlier in the week, now i'm at a bit of a disadvantage! Just had a quick go though, and managed to knock my first respectable time down a few seconds in total.

T1: 19.459
T2: 30.240
T3: 24.766

Gonna keep doing some more laps, but needed to get something on here lol

Well, here are the results of another eight hours.

T1: 18.456
T2: 28.658
T3: 24.332

I know it's only .005 at t3, but it's my best final sector. The missus brought home a very fine double I.P.A., so my productivity is done for the day. 👍

I'm now using TWO foams pads per pedal! [Good Lord, is he ever going to stop talking about foam pads!] I combined the solid foam with the hollow foam to create a progressive braking pedal. I was thinking you could do the same thing with a double-sided kitchen sponge for under $5.

I found that putting the softer foam in the back made me feel the pedal quicker, but gave me room to push more when I wanted to brake harder. The ratio is 2/1, with two being the hard front sponge and the rear softer sponge being half as thick.

This new combo had me at a t1 of .208 and a split time of .913 before I biffed the wall at the bottom of the hill! :ouch: Did I mention the Missus brought home a fine DOUBLE I.P.A.? 👍 :)

I've said it before, I'll say it again. As soon as I sober up...

I promise this time to post pictures on the WRS set-ups thread!

Racing On! :gtpflag:

Have to say though my driving is improving massively, after a couple of weeks of WRS i can now set a car up much better, rotate in corners and begin to brake neare the 'proper point'. I'm smashing track records i thought were fast by seconds. so its coming good, just everybody else is faster :(
That's the beauty of WRS mate - the challenge makes you push yourself harder and there's always someone faster to share tips and tricks, as well as getting to view others' replays and a variety of techniques. 👍 Great aint it? :)

Thanks vagabond....
No worries mate... and call me Chris

............
Great write up Wes. Unfortunately for me, I'm already doing that, just slower than you are. :P

I'm beginning to think the best way to do sector 1 is sideways though. Did a 17.954 earlier, mostly sideways with all tyres lit up and smoking. Not great to set you up for the first right in sector 2 but hey, it looked cool.

Put some effort in will you Chuk, you've barely done 40 hours this week!!
 Early days yet....

Some nice improvements there guys 👍

Baby steps for me:

18.090
28.613
24.195

Messy run to the line but a nett gain of half a tenth. Hardly progress but I'll take it. Now looking for another 0.5 according to Excel so it don't feel like progress at all... :P

Those are some great splits, Chris!! 👍 And thanks again for your help this week! You gave me the approach to t3 that is just perfect. [For me!]

Nice job, Matt! :) You can stop now! :sly:

That is a spectacular write-up, Wes! Your willingness to contribute is very cool beans. 👍👍

Jon, not quite forty hours yet, and I won't promise to stop by fifty!!

Racing On! :gtpflag:

Not smooth, if I could just tie 3 good sectors together...

T1: 18.894
T2: 29.990
T3: 24.843

But I keep gaining.

On the trail of Nine_Hundred. Al said the brown numbers are important, so I am collecting as many as I can!

18.862
29.121
24.653

Messed up a .887 and a .888 T1, a .390, .387, .385, a .367 and a .343 T2, a .590, .587, 2 .550 and a .549 T3's... :yuck:
Edited another messed up lap.:grumpy:

Lost 2 laps because of wall scratching on entry to the last chicane.:(

I thought I had a good lap but I lost 3 tenths compared to my best splits.. Ah well.. there's time left still.

That is just incredible, Wes. I have nothing but respect and admiration for your talent. That knack of continuously finding more and more speed on any given combo never ceases to amaze me. I've also seen how willing you are to help us who are struggling to find speed. Very sporting of you, to say the least. It qualifies as a top-notch act, in my book! You and Chris deserve a great deal of credit of for helping me get faster this week, and I'm sure I'm not the only one! 👍👍

That being said, I'm having the same trouble as many others when it comes to finding more speed here. I actually thought I'd be making progress a lot quicker this time because of all the time I've spent on this track. I've raced it for five years, at least, and thought I knew it well enough to make a stronger run towards the D2 leaders. Maybe today!!! :dopey:

My biggest surprise has been t1. I have yet to see a 17.xxx, and the only times I get close to 18.0xx, I'm on the wrong line. :ouch: I need to keep one of my low .2xx together for a full lap if I'm going to make a run towards the division leaders, as well as hope for the best in that all-important t3. :scared:

So, the coffee is brewed and the snow is falling. Good day for racing! :) Hopefully I'll be posting some new, and faster, splits before the end of the day. Good luck to all!

I'm likely going to submit my splits on the board.

I've had better T1's many times, but can't seem to hold them to the end.

This is one tricky combo, and my patience is all but used up.

Not likely to catch Lou8Ball anyway (great splits there Lou).

I've been trying to better my time for two days now and can't manage it.::ill:

Looking forward to what next week brings. (no offense to Lucas, you sure picked a challanging combo, at least for me.):)

What a words.:)

And hey, the same can be said to you. Your dedication and support towards the WRS is just incredible. You'd never give up and find a good lap, even if it takes 50+ hours.:dopey:
Even if I had that time to dedicate, I wouldn't have the mental strength to pull it off. 2 weeks ago you showed us what's possible if you keep everything together. I hope you succeed in that this week again, though keep a save margin for me please.:sly:

About T1, my lines have to be absolutely perfect for a 17.9.. It's not something I can pull off consistently.. It's basicly Chris' video but with more risk going into turn 1 and 2.

Haven't driven for a while but thought I should get back in the swing of things. Trying to drive without the racing line. Great track and the car isn't bad either, new driven this one. Seen quicker sectors but its like as always putting them all together.

T1: 18.478
T2: 29.081
T3: 24.401

Time to get half a second off my overall time, then I'll be happy. Need to sort out my T4.

What BB are people using?

Just amazing times Wes

Another session and this is really getting ridiculous, now i can go much faster but can´t translate that to a final time, and by the look at D2 i´m not the only one with this problem

Really small improvement at the line :ill:

T1: 18.367 :ouch:
T2: 28.764
T3: 24.190
