Tim (Dr_Watson), is it me or are our cars painted in different colors?
I think my car could be the one not painted correctly, but judging by the pictures in the post above, the NA car looks too light, no?
 
The qualifying deadline for the event has been pushed back by popular request. It's now Friday @ 23:59 GMT instead of Friday at 02:00 GMT so almost a full day extra. Still gives us enough time after qualification to sort out room assignments and grid positions.

There won't be time for late qualifiers however, so any driver that doesn't qualify by the deadline will get a grid spot after all qualifiers in their room based on handicap. The team average will be damaged as well which is used in round 1 team seeding and lounge assignments. Just don't miss the qualification deadline and you don't have to worry!

Has anyone's status for this event changed due to qualifying for GT Academy finals? I know there are quite a few on the list that have qualified 👍

Anyway, there is still time for some team shuffling, so once you find out what's going on with the finals please update your status here. Sooner rather than later given the team aspect of this event.

I think I heard UK starts August 12th which might be OK for this event, but not sure. Depends how those drivers want to spend their final days preparing. Obviously, we know your priority and understand you must do what's best for your finals appearance/performance.

By the way, who on the registration did make it to GTA Finals this year?

USA final won't be until the end of the month. Will most likely step on the Belgian GP but at least the US should be good for the 10th.
UK is pretty soon though from what Adam said.

No you can just run solo. Maybe the room was glitched. Normally, open room, adjust settings and regs, enter pits, drive some laps, exit to lobby, watch race and go to timings and you'll see your fastest lap with splits. If you re enter pits it clears time from previous stint.

I suggest just try it again... Do just one lap (after untimed out lap) and check that the time is listed.

Just remember, today the main lounge is reserved for the weekly race. Use B if you want to practice today. Tomorrow through next Monday the main lounge will be available for all our needs.

So...

Team UK Tees: You've also got Hasslemoff on reserve... any update? There is at least one UK driver on the free agent list (Vinal) and I'm not sure if Biffy is still interested.

Teams from BENE (Belgium/Nederlands)... after speedy has cancelled there are 3 teams of 3 between you... that's quite risky... would there be any option of reorg/consolidating into an NE team and a BENE team both with 4 drivers? Of course that only accounts for 8 of the 9. If all 9 drivers are solid the 9th could form up with others for a team EU also. Just sayin'.

Team Nordic: DeanJ is now on reserve and you only had 3 to begin with. Not gonna work... you need to find another drdiver... reach out to the free agents even if they aren't in your region if you can't find another Nordic driver.

Same goes for other teams with 3 drivers (unless the 3 are rock solid to make the event)... think about adding a 4th from the free agent list. If you end up with only 2 drivers you are going to get squashed, not to mention throw a bit of a wrench into the system.

Basically, I encourage teams of 3 to become teams of 4 which will make you a bit more resistant to DC's, cancels, etc.

Just a reminder, these individual "full" races will only last about 40-45 minutes.. plus a little time for quali, so figure on an hour. The main event on Aug 10 will have both races in the same day, but no quali, thus that day it'll be about 90 minutes of racing.

As I wrote to Joel, I've changed my status to reserve as I'm under 50% sure I'll be there. However I'll know for sure if I can't be there, on August 3rd (this Saturday)...

I think it's more simple to stick to the teams as they are now.You never can tell if someone drops out for whatever reason.In that case some reserve guy can jump in?

as per my question for n0ize above... if there is an open slot on your team is it really fair to ask a driver to be prepared and just pick them up last minute for whatever reason? What happens if nobody drops, do they just sit out of the race?

I'm encouraging free agents to either join other teams at this point or just form your own if there isn't an opportunity to join an existing team. I'm am 100% fine with a Team EU or even Team World in the case where there is no logical regional team where you fit. If you want to race, I don't see why you have to be "stand by" when there are going to be open grid spots in the rooms.

As an alternative, I'm considering just letting a few independent drivers join the races to fill out a few rooms... they won't contribute to points, but maybe can help even out the numbers and they do get to race that way. Have to consider that. At this point we are 14 teams which means two lounges of 11-12 (worst case scenario 9 if there are 3 teams of 3 in the lounge) and a couple lounges of 14-16 (with potential for 16 if 4 teams of 4 in the lounge). Obviously would be better to have more leveled lounges.

First off apologies for not posting in this thread, I completely forgot about it with GT Academy and all! Second of all I'm going to have to pull out I'm afraid, with GT Academy happening the very next week (12th/13th) my priorities have to be with that competition and so all my practice will be for this.

No one has to sit out of the race as far as I'm concerned.Anyone (even outside EU) can join our team.
