Oink, hurry up and get your Parity video up so I can see myself on YouTube! :)

When will the details of the next event be up?

Sark

Oh sorry man, I wasn't planning on doing a video on this event, lol. Sorry to disappoint you :scared:

I'm sure your time to shine will come at some point soon ;)

What about "No cones where harmed in the making of this video"?

"WARNING: Very few cones have gone unharmed in the making of this video."

... would be more appropriate. :)

Parity Formula (courtesy of DeadNutsEven Racing)

We'll publish a track, target time, max speed and tire compounds. The current specs:

  • Track: Grand Valley East
  • Target Time: 1'04.500
  • Max Speed: 250 kph / 155 mph (your speed should not exceed this at the end of the longest straight*, and you should not hit the rev-limiter)
  • Tire: Racing Hard (Use a softer compound if you cannot obtain the target time without going over the max speed)
  • Car Choice: Any RM or DLC TC Car*

Your job is to choose any car in the game (that meets the event car choice criteria) and set it up any way you like until you can just reach, but not exceed the target time using our online specs (listed below), but be sure to run online with tire wear / fuel consumption set to off. The tire compound specified is the primary option and is a reasonable target for D2-D3 drivers. If you are having a hard time achieving the target lap time without exceeding the max speed then you can use a tire one compound softer. If you are D1 and/or alien driver you can use a tire one compound harder to achieve your result.

You can:
  • Use a car stock (but please break it in and change oil so your power is constant)
  • Use a fully tuned car (any parts as long as you meet the requirements)
  • Use ballast or power limiter to fine tune your achievable times
  • Use a clutch and any shifter (as long as you use it when you set your times)
  • Use any view (cockpit, etc. as long as you use it to set your times and as long as you can drive safely and maintain situation awareness)
  • Use ABS (or not) -- as long as you use the same settings to achieve the target time
You will have to put some practice time in to get consistent with the car/track and fine tune your setup as you improve and approach the target time. We may even organize a few of these session prior to the event, but for now just post to this thread if you want to use the lounge for practice and invite others to join. If you don't prepare enough and are still on a steep part of your learning curve when you show up for the event you are likely to improve significantly during the race and create an imbalance. We will have some procedures to correct that during an event, but the more prepared you are the better the racing will be for everyone.

Feel free to use this thread to discuss the best approach to converging on the best specs for you. Choose a car that you can be consistent with. If you have trouble with consistency choose an easier handling car or opt for the softer compound. The idea is for everyone to have a shot at a win and be able to negotiate traffic safely.

Once you have a car and spec picked you can sign up for the event and use the registration form in the 3rd post. You'll be asked some details about the car and specs. You can update your specs at any time by filling out the registration form again. If you are interested and want to save your car choice for later just put in TBD in the fields. This will help us get an advanced measure of interest for any event.

Event Settings
  • Game Mode: Normal Race
  • Laps: Two 10 minute sprints (10 laps) + two 20 minute features (18 laps)
  • Start Type: Grid Start
  • Grid Order: Race 1 - Fastest First | All Other - Reverse Grid Based On Previous Race Results
  • Boost: No
  • Slipstream strength: Weak
  • Penalty: Off
  • Automatic Race Start Cycle: Disabled
  • Race Finish Delay: Set to the max 180 secs
  • Grip Reduction: Real
  • Mechanical Damage: Light
  • Visible Damage: Off
  • Tire Wear / Fuel Consumption: Off
  • Skid Recovery Force | Active Steering | ASM: Disabled
  • TCS | Driving Line | ABS: Optional
  • Pits: Closed

Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:
  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to kick out or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are kicked out of the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.

Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

Nice combo Sjaak. 👍 Should produce some amazing pictures. :dopey: We should do a photo contest after this one. 💡

I've tentatively chosen my car and specs selected (it's nice to be involved in the testing :sly:), but I'm sure I'll have to refine my specs after more practice.

Speaking of practice I definitely want to host practice on both Thursday and Friday (May 16/17) around the normal times. Thursday @ 19:00 GMT (noon pacific) and Friday after the Academy practice (if there is any) @ 20:00 or 21:00 GMT depending.

PS> It would be nice if we didn't have a lot of car duplication this week, especially with the TC cars which are non paint-able. It's not strictly prohibited, but if you see a car already selected do your best to pick something different.

Tim,thanks for all your help 👍

One clarification about the TC cars, they can be painted, try your skyline Tim.👍

Really? Never new that! Learn something new every day here.

I have tested some cars to come to this format.

Subaru Impreza TC -245km-418bhp-1140kg-575pp
TVR RM -247km-334bhp-885kg-554pp
Cammaro RM -248km-411bhp-1210kg-569pp
RX-7 TC 248km-350bhp-990kg-560pp
Corvette Z06 RM '06 - 248km-354bhp-1090kg-564pp
Lancer Evo TC - 248km-469bhp-1115kg-579pp
Elise 111R RM - 247km-273bhp-720kg-562pp
Corvette ZR1 RM '09 - 247km-361bhp-1100kg-570pp
Callenger SRT8 TC - 248km-421bhp-1285kg-554pp
Lexus ISF RM - 247km-380bhp-1185kg-560pp

It may give racers a idea what power and PP to use.
Setting the topspeed to 270Km also helps to get close to the 250 km.

Wow, this looks so awesome 👍
Great combo once again.
Will try to participate after I got my brake pedal and ISP issues sorted out :nervous:

The car list is limited to a distinct set this week and I provided a drop down menu for them in the sign up form, but forgot about TBD... I just added a "TBD" entry at the bottom of the list for those of you that want to sign up, but have yet to pick a car. Sign up and then re-register when you pick your car and specs.

I can't sign up 'cause there's no RX7 TC in the car roaster in the form.
Boooouuhhh :P

Fixed. If you knew how much work that little re-org was you'd laugh!

I took the opportunity to put TBD at the top since I had to cut and paste every car name over again one by one anyway.

Hey chaps. Quite fancy the look of this one. 👍 Curse Mohit for pinching my first choice car :sly: Just doing some testing with the Impreza TC.

My bad :sly:. Haven't even tested, just knew I wanted it. Love the evos (well except the X).

Mine's Matte Red, if you wanna pick it still.

Joining the lounge now for some testing with my Acura NSX RM. Feel free to join.

EDIT: wow, what a car the Acura NSX, amazing handling. Think I fell in love with this one. Had to detune it quite a bit tough.

@admins: What's the difference between "upgraded" and "tuned"?

From what I think, tuned = suspensions, LSD, gears etc and upgraded = added parts like turbos or weight reduction.
In this case, I think you maybe should add "detuned" in the form. Detuned = stock with less power / ballast / reduced downforce. I remember I had to detune my Toyota BRZ in the previous Parity Racing so this is why I ask ;)

Upgraded is parts added for more HP but with stock tune.
Tuned is parts added, not necessarily for more HP, with tuned suspension, gearbox, DF.

By detuned you mean Power limited?

Detuned has been added, but I'm not 100% sold... not that it really matters to the racing.

It's kind of easy from the PP/HP/KG that you've made those changes and stock shows you didn't change any settings. What does detuned mean in this example: add a custom tranny and tune gears and/or tune LSD which don't add power (hence it's upgraded), but you add ballast and lower power from stock -- to me that's still still tuned.

Maybe we should refer to it as Detuned Stock in which case the car is stock in every way except you add ballast and/or lower power. Almost everyone is going to pick detuned stock rather than stock because how often are you going to hit the exact target without making some minor adjustment? Not very. So Stock becomes never used and basically replaced by stock Detuned.

I just talked myself out of adding it and removed it again. I'm open to suggestions, but also open to picking holes in said logic.

At ease soldier!!

Nothing to fear from this couple, but the sound of the Corvette is awesome.👍
If racers want to practice on Sunday, make a post and I try to be there to test my team.:D

I try find a second car, probably the Cammaro or the Lexus , for back up and because it is fun to tune more cars.

lol going to test the Dodge too.:)

Oh hell yeah, another parity event!! Very excited for this one as I absolutely loved the last parity event we did. But I've run into a snag already. I want to go with the Nissan SILVIA spec-R AERO (S15) RM '02 and I've already bought, converted to RM, as well as added parts and tuned to get to the 1:04.5 lap limit BUT I'm hitting 160mph at the end of the straight before my braking point. How should I go about removing that extra 5mph but still retain the lap time? Lower the power, tighten the ratio, and go with stickier tires or what? Any suggestions are welcome.

I would try lowering the power first, by removing parts and not just using the engine limiter. Also practice helps bring down your times quite a bit. So you can go about lowering your power but as you get better at the combo it balances out.

Lower power will help your cornering too.... Shorter braking zones, while lowering top speed, but it takes a lot. That's first. Then extend top speed on the tranny possibly changing it from a 6 speed to a 5 speed with overdrive.. Ballast will lower all times (unless it improves balance) so avoid unless you need to slow up.

Ah, at this point, we aren't agree.
I explain my point of view which is very simple finally:
Stock = Stock (no parts added, no setting, only oil change)
Upgraded = Parts added but no setting (parts added = i.e.: weight reduction, turbo, engine upgrade, exhausts)
Tuned = Any kind of setting (like LSD, gearbox, suspensions, etc...). As long as you use upgraded + tuned, your car is considered as tuned.
Detuned = Stock, less power and/or more weight and/or less downforce. No part added. No setting
Maybe we should refer to it as Detuned Stock in which case the car is stock in every way except you add ballast and/or lower power. Almost everyone is going to pick detuned stock rather than stock because how often are you going to hit the exact target without making some minor adjustment? Not very. Since we have over 1000 cars in this game, I'm pretty sure that we can find THE car that we can use as stock to reach the target. But as you say, it's easier to detune a car that we already know to reach this target ;)

Mika, try this for your Elise,it should get you up speed and for me it is half a second under the 1'04.500
