After my first try I love the car except then it hits a bump and gets lighter! So my question to the aliens in the group is.... Should I have the weight of the car shifted to the correct side before I hit a bump or just lift off the throttle going over the bump, let the car settle and then shift the weight? The bump I am having the most issue with (not the only one) is the one coming out of the second tunnel. I am usually way out of shape as I come to the top of the hill for the down hill left hander afterwards.
I'm not sure if I understand you well, anyway you should have shifted the weight of the car before you hit a bump and going through that bump full throttle if possible, but, you should lift off the gas at some bumps / rumble strips in order to don't unbalance the car, you don't need to apply this last case in this combo.

Is it faster to go around this track with the car pointing forward? Or sideways like I've been doing? Despite my testing the durability of every inch of Armco, this is still a blast to drive! I need to go figure out how I'm losing 3 entire seconds in sector two before I post a time.
It's faster pointing the car forward, but a bit of skidding can be benefical in some curves, although you shouldn't skid much, if your tires are smoking you're losing grip and time.

Splits from the second session:

25.583
54.933

Too much smoke everywhere, good for the show but it shouldn't be a good example.

I had a feeling your next splits were going to be in the 54s Ramon. I had one myself, but I just had to bin it on the last turn. :(

Not much luck today. If I added up my best two sectors I would be at 55.800
Somehow just can't make it happen and most of my T2s are in mid 56s.

25.711
55.037

Sliding around the entire double-left hander seemed to help in this case! Almost lost my battle with the wall, though :scared:

Consistency is definitely hard on this one, and then even if I nail a cracking T2, the pressure is too much to really go hard for the final sector:

26.133
55.917

Almost identical T2 to my previous splits but nearly 0.1 at the line...I feel like I'm doing well this week but I'd like another couple of tenths to feel I've done absolutely all I can 👍

@PASM Thanks for the video. I don't know how you avoided the ingame red flag at the concrete section. I have been red flagged there so many times when I still have wheels further right than that . I would love to know the boundaries there. I think they are more strict at the start of the concrete section, and ease off as you approach the right hander.

Awesome times McSq!
I am interested to know how accurate the collision detection is when close to the wall like this.
Is it possible to actually get a pic of it, or is a wall touch indicated only by a speed reduction, audible bump or controller vibration? I've seen some old pics with wheels poking through barriers, etc. Not sure of that still happens.
The wing mirror would go first in this instance. It would be cool if it got pinged off to indicate a wall touch.

From what I can tell, the actual wall (at least, where it meets the wheels) is the limit and there doesn't appear to be any invisible wall to make the whole barrier vertical. Some more photos:

Doesn't seem like there's any visual cues, but unless it's the lightest of wall hits then it should be noticeable, particularly with the controller! Either way, this would be made a lot easier with a decent data logger :indiff:

Urgh...the constant tyre squealing is giving me headaches. I have no idea how to go quicker in this car....it is, so far, the worst 4wd car I have driven. As far as I can tell, it doesn't like kerbs, grass, corners in general and especially any 50mph+...it does drift well though. This is the most frustrated I have been with a car so far (at least the FXX had an excuse being rwd). Kudos to those of you that can manage something resembling driving with this 👍

This car must be very difficult to drive fast with the DS3. I do very little steering with the wheel and I use a lot of partial throttle to stop the sliding.

Oops, I knew that... getting confused at this late hour :embarrassed:

I actually gave this a quick go with the controller just to see how it felt, first sector is very difficult to control the car in! It's not too bad in the slower corners though 👍

I don't think it's so much using the DS3 but more that I am using the x/[] buttons as I can't use L2/R2....I am pretty good at feathering the throttle with the X button but this car just won't behave. I did try an experiment earlier and changed my settings to TCS 5 and ABS 10 and I went 2 tenths quicker! I didn't save that lap though as I'm not happy using that level of driver aids....I may try it with lower TCS as I don't mind anything at 3 or below (3 was what I had to use to control the FXX), the ABS side I'm fine with the 10 if it works.

I guess it's my own fault for getting frustrated as I, stupidly as it turns out, assumed that a 4WD car would be reasonable to drive (well, discounting Lamborghinis of course)...I have learned my lesson well.

I'm having the same problems.. I'm finding it impossible to get the same line each lap.. as the car is so unpredictable.. my lap time are varying wildly.. my fastest laps.. seem to have slower T 1&2 times.. so frustrating.. oh well keep trying.. I'm running ABS 2 with 0 TCS

Is anyone else going one gear higher (4&5th) toward the end of T1? Then again, I wouldn't do that with a seq. stick but the car has paddles. :D
If only I had a datalogger.

I run using a DS3 with the analog Right Stick to throttle and brake... R2 & L2 for the gears... I find it easy to control accel. and brake but that's me.... I'm used to this setting since it appear in PS2 (I guess...)

No way... I can't do that part after T1 in 4th gear....at least not for now... :)

For some reason I can't stop driving this car... After driving the Lms version once I didn't really give any of the R8s a try, but I'm loving this one.
Found a couple more tenths at the line.
