I'm not really a car tuner.. but this set up works for me.. I find plenty of grip.. and I can get the nose to go where I want.. with careful driving.. the under-steer.. is minimal.. it seems to suuit my style of driving.. and has given my fastest laps.. to date.. if you want to try something different.. have a go with these settings.. may take a few laps.. to understand the way it handles..

Yeah this tune helped - I still can't find consistency in line in the first corner S1. I figured out that the driving line is only good for braking points (old news) so either I memorize the braking points or I reprogram my brain to make a sharper and earlier turn in and hug the rumble in that first corner... I also need to brake earlier and less in the first corner of S2 (overbraking is my vice on any track in any car).
There is one braking point too many in S2. With Ollie's tune there is no need for 4th gear in S2-S3...
Thank you Ollie @Andy 0 - I have done my driving for today - seems I can only find one best lap a day - but I will give your tune Real run tomorrow. 👍 :D

Had a great first sector, only for my wife to tell me she was going to bed..... Lost a 21.1xx

Anyway, 20 laps in,
21.428
35.561

Plenty to come, as I think I have nailed turn one. Well, the idea is there, if only my brain would take the same line 2 laps in a row!

Heh. The danger of wives... :D - exactly... If only... My brain thinks it's new corner every time... And thus I have sand in my underwear and more restarts than full laps... :dopey:

Really struggling with this one. That first corner in T2 is a nightmare, no idea how to take that properly without being dirty (anyone got any tips :sly:)! Anyway I sort of managed to fluke it through there for this lap after a frustrating 2 hours which resulted in this:

21.100
36.184

Really cant see me beating that unless I figure out that corner, and become more consistent in the hairpin.

That corner (Graham Hill Bend) is tough! I struggle through there 3 laps out of 4.

I get more consistent as I lap, and these are my references:

  • Up to 4th out of Druids
  • Look for the tire "rubber" on entry. There is a patch to the right of centre just before the curbing on the right side. My early tendency is to brake just after, but as I lap I lift BEFORE it and downshift to 3rd (not 2nd as I find it overflows the car and it just slides sideways...)
  • Turn in just past the start of the right side curbing. It's best if I can just touch it, but getting too far on kicks the rear end out. Often I just miss it.
  • I stay off the throttle until I KNOW I can just touch the inside curb, then balanced throttle until I KNOW I can make the exit clean. It's slightly downhill so it amplifies the understeer, staying off throttle a little longer on entry helps turn a bit better in my opinion.
  • @doodlemonoply tune is really touchy on entry here (if you are using it). It allows the car to turn much more aggressively, but the tires will not take it and slide abruptly sideways mid corner. To me this was too unpredictable and one of the main reasons I went away from it. My skill set is not up to that level of control!
Don't get discouraged here. T2 is deceptively technical :boggled:

EDIT: OK, I found it! Graham Hill Bend was modified in 1999 to it's current configuration. It used to be much faster and the Cooper straight had a lot more of a bend to it. The old one is the one I remember from my time in the UK ('91-'95).

That awkward moment:
When you see your time dropped by -0.2xx lap after lap on S1 and see your ghost leaving you behind on S2 and FL.
I aways ask myself: How could I do that? I'm not that fast!

That is so true. I have a theory that when you begin to reach your best time for your skill level, you actually begin to follow your ghost instead of passing it. It's like I go into a trance and subconciously stop running the track so much as starring at my ghost line and wondering if i am on it or slightly ahead. In each combo in GT6 I have turned my ghost off at that point and have ran faster laps, even if they are just a hundredth.....maybe it"s just me.

Thanks for the tips pilmat! Its a really tricky corner. Almost every lap I either went too wide on exit and ended up on the brown stuff or kept it clean but went way too slow! Will give ur tips a go tomorrow will surely be better than the "hit and hope" technique! I am currently using doodlemonoplys tune, did try a couple others briefly but run the most laps with his so far. Will try out a couple more tunes aswell cause right now Im thinking the key to improving my time is being consistent through graham hill bend!

I know the Driving options don't say it but can we changes wheels? Wheel size?
I seem to remember seeing a post that there was an error on the last time trial regs regarding wheels.

From the OP:

  • Custom Wheels and Paint are allowed

I'm sorry to inform you all my Focus was stolen, poor soul. I will not be able to get better times on week 6.
I believe I can get a new one from insurance before next OE event.
Since I love drive understeering cars and hurting thumbs I'm really depressed with my loss.

Not sure if serious . . .

Knowing GT6 as I do you could well be. 👍

I submitted just to check if everything was fine and also in case I don't go any faster (but I might well do); it was accepted but it was the fastest acceptance ever from Fetchy too.
