i'll have to snap a pic of some albums i've got. parents basically "gave" me all of theirs since i have a turntable now and they have no other use for these.

last night i had rolling stones - through the past darkly, an original exile on main street from '72, and hot rocks 1964-1971 - also an original from '72, playing until about 10pm then my parents asked me to turn it off because it was getting too late.

tonight i think i'll put alice cooper - billion dollar babies on. i bet you it will sound a little better than my audio fidelity sacd.

REALLY wish i could find a copy of sticky fingers on vinyl, but looks like it is OOP now. i have all the cd versions of it though which are probably good enough.

Yeh baby. Beast of a set. Especially the engraved vinyl.

better pics of the set...

Also if anyone wants the digital download from the box set then here you go. This is a first come first served deal so post up whoever gets to use it.

got to >> www.rockactiondownloads.co.uk/ravetapesbox

then use the code...

********* < claimed.

enjoy.

I was able to claim the code and download the album. It's great so far.

That set is insanely good looking as well - how much did all that run you for?

Glad you got the album. The box set was £60.00. Same price as the ELP one. Glad you like Rave Tapes. Is that your first listen to Mogwai or are you a fan already?

First time listen to Mogwai - still enjoying it.
Looks like a hell of a deal for the price.

Ok guys just to give you a heads up on fantastic box set coming from Pink Floyd. It's the 20th anniversary set. Looks like it's up for pre-order now for £150!

Well it's Thursday again and I paid a visit to my local dealer. Picked up three new records.

Oh, video of the new Devision Bell Boxset. I need this set to go along with my Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here boxsets.

I have a box full of old records from the 70's & early 80's, but they are all in storage & probably not in the greatest of shape as I really didn't appreciate or take care of them at the time (I'm now borderline OCD meticulous with my gear & media). I very recently purchased a new Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Turntable and a few records to spin. In all honesty, I haven't even set up the counter & skating weights or connected it to my system yet. Anyway, here's the vinyl I ordered along with the turntable...

I recently received my pre-order of Conor Oberst's "Upside Down Mountain" double LP. From Nonsuch Records, it's such a well put together record, physically - the cardboard feels much more solid than many of my other records and the paper that the lyric book comes in is of real good quality. The pre-order also came with the album art on nice canvas. The record itself is pretty great (though I haven't listened to it on vinyl), First Aid Kit does the backing vocals for most of the tracks so naturally it's got a beautiful '70s folk sound but this is probably the first time I've been just as impressed by the packaging as the music itself!

Well my vinyl collection is moving. After recent purchases like Middleman and Jack White it's taking shape. I just need the Division Bell in my life and then I can concentrate on a deck.

How's the Jack White record? Saw him at Glastonbury this year and I'm thinking of picking up the vinyl version since it has all those cool quirks.

I've not played my vinyl yet as I don't want to play on the horrid deck I have use of. I'm going to wait for my own Rega before playing it. I may buy a second copy at some point just to keep pristine.

On another note I've got some lovely vinyl to pick up tommorow so I'll post up those at some point.

Ok because I don't pick up my weakly dose of music I thought I'd post up my recent big purchase.

You guessed it I got the Pink Floyd Box set.

I received my copy of Anomaly in the mail the other day, and ended up with a very pleasant surprise. I ordered from Amazon, who only offered the standard edition of the album, but when I opened the shipping sleeve, I noticed a hand numbered 700/750 on the back cover. When I flipped it over, there was/is a metallic sticker on the front reading Limited Edition 2 LP Green-Black Swirl Colored Vinyl. I paid $28 before tax & shipping, but the edition that I received goes for either $49 or $59 (I don't remember which). Either way, I was very happy. My question... Should I open it or leave it sealed and order another?

I'd order another, but that's just me, listen for a while to the CD version and grab a cheap played vinyl copy later.

Good looking deck.

That's what I figured I'd do. For me, having a limited edition sealed copy is just as cool as being able to listen to it. Maybe cooler in the long run?

Thanks... It's a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. All of my other gear is on a Bell O'ggetti rack in what would be around the corner to the right in the picture. I didn't place the phono there because the shelves are glass and because my center channel is sitting on the top one (which is where the phono would have had to be). So there was no space and there may have been vibrations (even though the speaker is resting on isolation pads).

@Anomaly I'm going to make myself a TNT sandblaster to limit the resonance to the TT. Until I have moved home then it's a dedicated rack for me.

Ok so I bought " Reachy Prints" by Plaid on vinyl. I got a download code for the MP3 version but I don't need it as I have the CD too. So if whoever wants it they need to go to https://bleep.com/redeem/plaid-reachyprints and enter code xy3ck9sR and you should have a 320kbps version of the album totally free. This code will only work once so whoever snags it post here so others don't waste their time.

Also let me know how you liked the album.

i didnt even open the green day record yet, cause i read on the web that a bad turntable can damage disc, plus its a limited edition... got any tip or story to share ?

@Pifachu vinyl can get damaged by a poorly set up deck. I'd recommend making sure you've set everything correctly.

I wouldn't worry too much as it won't badly ruin your records. Setting everything the best you can will also help with playback.

1. Place your deck on a level surface as far away from your speakers or on a surface that absorbs vibrations.

2. If your unsure about the cartridge alignment then download a cartridge protractor and make sure your overhang is correct.

3. Make sure you vertical tracking alignment is correct and your anti-skate too.

Other things like the phono stage etc will make a difference to sound but you'll want to start at the basics.

Ok people. As I've posted MP3 downloads previously I'll post another here.

I found this code unused in my record without knowing it was there. It's for Boards Of Canada Geogaddi. Go to https://bleep.com/redeem/boc-geogaddi and use code 0kJ0hLqI enjoy.

Nice. Division Bell is my favourite PF album. I'd almost be jealous, but, vinyl... m'eh. ;)

@MatskiMonk it's also got the Bluray Audio version of the album plus a new remaster CD too. Best of both worlds

I also agree its one of their best albums.

So on the way home from a morning cruise and coffee, I stopped by Goodwill - every now and then I can pick up records for cheap. I came across this little nugget today and I just had to have it. It was $1.99. I smiled ear-to-ear when I found this - I'm sure Frampton would be happy.
