Find Magners or Bulmers.

Failing that, just look around for local varieties, as they *may* have them in local stores. Although I doubt it anyway.

Actually, you won't know what Magners or Bulmers look like right? I'm going to search for them now....
Magners, Bulmers, Gaymers, a rather sweeter cider, Swedish Cider, Kopparberg.

I've had Magners, Bulmers and Gaymers. My preference is for Bulmers, as the taste of it suits me better. Gaymers is kinda too sweet for me and Magners has more of a....malty taste somehow to me. I will still drink Magners on a regular basis, but I am more likely to find the taste of it a bit stale after a few pints.

Kopparberg I've never had and need to find out about it actually. Just did a random google search fro Cider and found it there.

Personally for me with Strongbow, I have it with Blackcurrent squash in it as I find the taste of Strongbow itself not as nice as with Blackcurrent. I kinda drank slightly too much of it and found the taste of it rather bland so this is why I have Cider Black if there's only Strongbow available.

One other thing with regards to Magners and Bulmers. Under any circumstances (in my opinion) do not buy the canned variety. Buy the glass variety. Somehow the canned/tins changes the taste of it to something not quite so nice and rather odd....:(

Hope this helps. :)

Hmm I might have a hard time coming across these. At a local pub in which I have taken a liking to hanging out after work they have Woodchuck cider which is pretty good but I still think I like Strongbow better.

Last night while buying some at a local party store I was upset that didn't card me at all, that seems rather illegal since I really don't look all that different from someone who is a year or two younger. Maybe it's my lack of hair ?

Another mix (though quite dubious) that my friends do with cider is a "Turbo Shandy". Now please excuse them for using shandy to refer to a cider mix but it's quite simply Cider (Normally 'bow) and an alcopop such as WKD blue.

You can, if you want try out Pear Ciders if they have any available.

It's a different taste granted, but it may be something that you like...that is, if you can find any in America.

Btw, avoid Bulmers Pear Cider if you come across it. It's alright, its just bland. Not quite what I understand Pear Cider to taste like.

Woodchuck Cider I've not heard of....must find! :) Oh, what does it taste like in comparison to Strongbow so I know what to expect if I do happen to come across it? :)

I had a pear cider while in the UK, it was called Kopparberg I think. Stuff tasted amazing and I'm not typically big on fruity tasting drinks. I'm yet to find it in the states though.

Yes, bulmers pear ciders = not good.

Koppaberg pear cider is nice and sweet.
tried another pear cider that was quite nice but forgotten the name of it..

I'm a bit miffed at the moment peoples and I need your help as it's drink AND work related and it's kind of pissing me off the more I think about it because I felt very done over with this and annoyed because of it. :irked::grumpy:

I was on the train coming home from work drinking longneck (700ml) bottle of Crown Lager......and it's a yummy little drop of beer I can tell you boys as the rest of the Aussies can probably attest to. ;) Now apart from a neck tag with my company's name I'm in normal clothes and I had a fellow employee (never saw this person before, wouldn't know them from a bar of soap) come up and complain about me drinking the beer. Now, drinking beer on train is a no, no here where I live. Fair enough, man enough to cop a fine if I deserve it. The thing is this person comes up and says because I'm representing the company I should put the drink away, not because of anything else. :dunce: I was absolutely stunned at it all and was so shocked because I couldn't believe what I heard to get a response back at them. :dunce:

Point being, I felt defamed by a fellow employee for doing something that "supposedly" brings the company down in public.....yet we have our own bar at work where there were more than 100 people getting loaded on beer as I left work and if I got busted, I get the fine, not the company.:confused: As far as I was concerned my week ended and this person should've had a case of shut the hell up.....so should I make a complaint about this person (once I find their name in the company directory.........) or do I find this person (as that person catches the same company bus to the train station) and then give them my 10c on another occasion??

I'm edging towards point #1 but I need to justify the fact of being more civil about this matter rather than blowing up at them.

The words 'Pear cider' just makes me think 'Lambrini' or 'Babycham' - not something i want to be seen drinking thanks. I don't drive around town on a Saturday night in a pink stretched limo on some mates hen night or live in the '70s.

My friend gave me a bottle of Parrot Bay coconut rum...any ideas on what to do with it?
Drink it?

Seriously, coconut or vanilla rum is so tasty that I could practically drink it straight as a sipping drink on ice.

Although, try mixing it with Coke or Pepsi.

Or in the most traditional thing possible a Pina Colada is always excellent.

One thing I suggest, if you have the ingredients handy, that I had in Hawaii was called a Lava Flow.

Coconut Rum
Coconut Milk
Pineapple Juice
Ice
Blend
- As you pour the frozen mix into the glass swirl strawberry puree around the outside.

It is quite good, and depending on how strong you make it can be a very light hearted drink or can knock you out. I don't know the amounts as I just ordered them at the hotel bar.

How do you pour a frozen mix?

Get some Dr. Pepper.

Game over.

Being a big fan of Lost 5-0 energy drink for a while (half normal energy drink and half orange juice), I decided to splash in a bunch of Absolut to see what would happen. It's great, so if you're in the mood to blow 3$ on a can of mixer, pick some up 👍

Attn: I've found a beer that I enjoy! Blue Moon. As a few people have suggested, it is a wheat beer. I had about half a glass tonight at a sports bar.

I also had about 1.5 Long Island Ice teas. Those are quite tasty.

I also smoke cigars now, lol.

^Long Islands Rule! I'm starting to like Sapporo beer a lot, I got a good buzz while helping my cousin move. lool

I know both are illegal, but I just want to say... a Sleepy driver is SooooooooooooooOOOO much worse than a drunk driver (well buzzed driver).

Well, it is blended, so it is actually slushy. Think frozen Margaritta, or frozen Daquiri.

I know both are illegal, but I just want to say... a Sleepy driver is SooooooooooooooOOOO much worse than a drunk driver (well buzzed driver).
In Kentucky they are actually trying to make it so that a sleep-deprived driver can be charged with DUI. If this goes through I am screwed as I often am slow to become alert in the mornings. I'll have to get up earlier just so I can sit around drinking caffeine to wake up.

I guess I have to be honest... and as well I don't think people will believe me when I say this but, I'm a MUCH SAFER driver if I'm drunk (buzzed) than if I'm sleepy, that's a FACT. When driving drunk the only thing is that I have to concentrate THAT much harder, that's all. At least I'm Alert. Everytime I've driven sleepy I wonder literally how the hell I got home and how I got home in one piece. Either way though... I still think driving drunk, sleepy or on a C phone I'm still a better driver than some I encounter on the road here.

If they implemented a law like that here I'd be screwed much more than if I was drunk. That's a FACT too.

Blue Moon is great, my mom got me drinking it.

In some ways I do agree with the comment made above as I have had early mornings and late night driving done before and have actually wondered how the hell I got home in one piece, with no accidents or near misses. That's even with attempting to have loud music, windows down, guzzling Red Bull and so on and still almost falling asleep. However I've not driven drunk or anything like that so I can't comment on it. Although I do recall driving home (slowly at the speed of the traffic) after a rather hard night out in town that as I was driving slower, I was more aware that I had to be seriously alert at all times and was constantly checking myself to make sure I wasn't actually at fault or liable to do anything stupid.

Another factor must be taken into account as well is that being drunk also means you get to (eventually) feel tired. Therefore one could say that the law could be applied to tired people as they had impaired ability to drive the car. Mind, it must be a very annoyed cop to do that...

Just my thoughts on the topic.

He's 12. Expecting him to think is enough of a request - thinking about Margarittas is too much. :P

Yeah, the question was more a challenge picking on something he had no clue about than an interest in the thread.

As for me, I'm not old enough to have drunk loads n loads but Strongbow and Magners are pretty nice :)

I dont go out drinking on friday nights like a complete chav, i just have one occasionally in my house with my parents.

If going out to drink once a week makes you a chav, then perhaps I have not understood the definition of chav. Considering I go out with friends after work once a week, and the bar area is filled with young professionals who are all just relaxing after a day at work and watching sports. I think yuppie would be the more fitting adjective for the people where I hang out, but of course if you hang out until after 7:00 PM the polos and khakis begin to turn into t-shirts and jeans.

But then, I don't find drinking with my parents to be an exciting time either. Of course, that could have to do with the fact that depending on which parent I am with the choices are either cheap wine or cheap beer.

The options with the parents, depending on parent, include Campari and Vodka at one, with Gin & Tonic, or Leffe beer, with the other. :P

My dad cracked me up once.

In the same conversation, while tailgating, he told me how I spend too much money on beer when Budweiser is just perfect, and then later asked why I drink it as quickly as a I do when I should drink it slowly to enjoy the taste.

Putting the two together I take it that my dad likes to nurse Budweiser for the taste. :yuck:

No, Sorry I didnt explain properly. As in the 12-16 year olds who walk round the town drunk with their mates, looking for fights and causing a nuisance to other people. It may be very stereotypical but believe me, we see alot of these guys around Daventry. Irresponsible underage drinkers is more what I was on about. Sorry about that FoolKiller

In terms of everything but lookin for a fight, that qualifies me as a chav.

Part of growing up is trying your luck in town before your of legal age. If you can't convince a dumbass bouncer your just a year or 2 older than what you are then you'll be forever taunted for being baby faced.

And that first pint when you get into a club underage will be the best you've ever had.

Shame the challenge is now over :(

The word "chav" has been seriously misunderstood. It stands for "council house and violent". We're talking about the kind of people that you see wearing popped collar t-shirts, burberry hat, a 13 yr old girlfriend with a baby and a staff (staffordshire bull terrier). You normally see them around McDonalds, welfare centres with can a of Stella and faaaag in hand.

Drinking after work is more than acceptable especially if you work with a promiscuous secretary. With the sunny days we've been having I've been drinking more in the evening and starting to drink earlier on weekends. Nothing heavy, just a few bottles of kopparberg cider.

The thing is... if I'm tired/sleep from drinking then I can barely walk around at that point and obviously I can't drive. If I'm driving buzzed (I've only done it a couple of times) I don't swerve or anything. I drive normal it's just the reaction time isn't like if I was sober obviously.

With sleepy driving (even with metal blaring) I'll still swerve or do stuff as if I was drunk driving. I WILL NOT have any kind of useful reaction time because it will be too late. I will get pulled over for sleep driving hands down before I do for driving drunk(buzzed).

I can just picture myself doing something like in the episode of the Simpsons where he falls asleep on a straight road, dreams he's sleeping on a floating bed, comes to a curve, and barrels into the guard rail.

Danish cider? Or is that German?

We went down the pub after our last English lesson tonight, ****e selection on the pumps, had Abbots. A bit 'meh', but there was sod all else.

Even though it's early to be drinking for me, (it's 4.20pm at my area!) I've decided to celebrate the exam of exams for my university friends as I've basically got an off day today (causal work ftw!). However they're still in the exam at this time and they are fast drinkers. I am plainly not a fast drinker when it comes to ciders. So I'm starting early...lol.

I've just attempted my own cocktail (yeah I know..) of Lucozade Raspberry flavour with Midori. It doesn't actually *taste* THAT bad, but it's sure a strange taste....And its in a pint glass. But I would say that I like it. Not sure that the rest of you would though....

Midori is a 20% strength melon liquor and is really sickly sweet but I buy it when I desire something insanely sweet and ususally have it with lemonade cos of the cool green colour! Yeah, I'm a bit shallow like that sometimes! lol. :)

It does seem that any alcohol mixed in with Luzzo does just taste bland actually, come to think of it....:(

Wow....learn something new each day.
