My Race Report

Okay, so we were rolling down the Mulsanne straight double file, getting ready to start. Everybody had got into the room thankfully, although GT5 decided to go through it's infamous glitching process and claimed it's first victim. GTP_w-g-e was in the race, however I wasn't able to see him at-all, but thankfully he was at the front of the pack, and I was at the back, so no incidents occurred. He dc'd later on unfortunately, Paulmac and Mule too, unlucky to them as I believe they were in good positions.

Well anyway, just about to start before the second Mulsanne chicane, I saw the first 3 drivers (and w-g-e presumably) power away, and either Denilson was a bit slow at starting, or I just went too soon, so I had to slow back down and let him back past me, also letting Supraphantom past at the same time. From then down the straight I tried to be careful, not getting into any incidents. After Mulsanne corner, I caught onto Denilson's draft and started overtaking him around the outside coming up to the right-hander before Indianapolis, but just as I was about to pull it off, I must of touched on the smallest blade of grass possible, which typically resulted into a massive spin and me ploughing into the deepest reaches of the gravel trap - it was a long way back to the track :guilty:

After that incident, I was incredibly gutted and frustrated with myself, and I was about 20 seconds of the pack if not more, so I was pretty much in 'race-over' mode. I quickly reassured myself though, as my strategy could still work, with just 1 stop. From the first lap to about lap 6-7, I put in some good, consistent laps to try and rope in the GT500's, and noticed I was still very much in it when I passed Remy, Denilson and C-Falcon, all in the pits because of damage. C-Falcon came out of the pits not far behind me, and with better tires, I knew he would start roping me in. At this point, I was also passing some GT300's. I flashed each driver a few times to make sure they knew I was coming, sorry if this caused any major distractions. When Wardez took the lead, my splits showed that I was closing on him, about 20 seconds behind, which gave me a real boost as I realised with the main frontrunners behind me still to pit again, I had a good chance of getting the win, but I had to go as fast I could on worn-out tires, making no mistakes. Eventually though, C-Falcon caught up to me, I think on lap 9, which thankfully was when I planned to pit. I think he passed me somewhere around Indianapolis on this lap, as I was in no mood for a fight on these tires, but I stayed in his draft, although going through the Porsche Curves, I almost went into him as he lagged for a few seconds and was moving across the track, I had to brake not to hit him. Right after this I entered the pits, to my joy as I had caught up to Supra by 10 seconds.

Cue my second f'up. Put too much fuel in the car. I noticed this when I saw Supra driving away from the pits and I was stuck there for longer. Such an idiot thing to do! I started claiming back some time on Supra, until I was about 2 seconds off (can't remember which lap, about lap 11/12), where he was seemingly duelling with a GT300 :odd: I got right on his tail coming up to the Porsche curves, and passed a very slow Denilson at this stage, my guess was that he was damaged? There was a lot of exchanging of positions between me and Supra, a great battle especially on the straights. Then on lap 13, C-Falcon came right out of the pits just as we were coming around the first corner. Very exciting indeed. C-Falcon was just in front, with me and Supra right behind. Again, more great battling and overtaking, and at the end of lap 13, me and C-Falcon were starting to pull away from Supra. Now my 3rd f'up, which ultimately cost me the race. On lap 14 we went into the first bend nearly side by side, with me taking the very inside and C-Fal taking the outside. There was little grip on the inside and I braked a little too late, which cause made it difficult to turn in, and resulted me running into C-Fal's line and colliding with him. This caused damage for both of us. I don't how he dealt with it, but with a DS3, a damaged car is difficult to control and I ended up driving erratically, desperately trying to keep it straight. Through the Mulsanne chicanes this caused me to push C-Fal off his line, not physically as I remember, but I could understand him thinking I was trying to bump him off the way I was driving. After that I just backed off and stayed in his draft. I'm sorry to C-Falcon for these incidents, I had no intention of causing them, but nevertheless they were reckless and I am expecting a penalty.

Anyway, on that same lap, it started raining, so with a damaged bumper and fairly worn tires, I decided I had no choice but to take a risk and pit for Inters. The rain was not heavy enough for Wets in my eyes, and with only 5 laps left, I figured I could make it round in good enough shape even if it stayed dry (which it did :grumpy:) on Inters, although I hoped the leaders would pit and that it would keep raining. None did except for Wardez, who went for Wets, only to go back in because there was simply not enough rain, which allowed me to take 4th, and for the rest of the race I just took it easy, making sure I got to the finish line. Right after finishing, I dc'd on the Leaderboard screen, if it was a minute earlier I would of punched the screen.

Either way, another tough race, but very good to drive in. And I'm content enough with taking 4th place, best result I could get without obtaining any ballast, which puts me in a good position for next race. I quite fancy my chances with the Top 4 in GT500 driver standings all with considerable ballast :sly: Great driving to all in D1, it was relatively clean racing, can't wait for Nurburgring GP! Just hope my penalties aren't too harsh.

Hey guys, glad to see the competition is running better than ever, I do hope to be involved in this again some time. 👍

I think I did a faster lap or was that lap unclean?

Lap 2 is the lap I'm thinking about by the way.
Erm, not sure. All I did was let my replay run until the last lap and then checked everyone's lap. The next fastest gt500 lap was C-Falcon with a 3:52.1xx
Yeah, I would like to get some points still. So if anyone would be so kind to check the first 2 laps of the race if I got the fastest lap and if it was clean.

Seems like the majority of you guys haven't had luck on your side at Sarthe this season.

Definitly going to quali for Nurb next week as I haven't actually finished an actual race yet, looking forward to it.

What's your replay show where I collected you from behind? I got myself apying brakes and then whop. No brake lights on your car at all. Which is what makes no sense. If you was slowing down as fast as it shows. You would of been on brakes. :(

Got lag punted tonight myself in the Cappy race. The servers issues? Second race was fine. However was not around same group of racers during second round there.

Lynchy sorry for coming over on you. As I mentioned I was looking back and got jolted by the bumpy straight. What happens when you break attention from going straight to see why your being flashed. If I had both hands on wheel wouldn't of happened.

my replay clearly shows brake lights i understand that this game is not as in real life but it looks from my point of view that you made no attempt at slowing, but if that would have not had happened we had already put a distance between us and third that there was no way of being caught from behind so my disappointment in the points that i received are vast. after making pit stop for damage i was able to drive back through the field again this time it was lynchy's turn to take me out, after that pit stop i then again drove my way back to the front were i was able to catch 2nd and only a couple seconds away from 1st before the next problem with a car(unknown car fell asleep before replay over)so after starting near the rear and having been taking out multiple times i would say that i salvaged as many points as possible.
congrats to reevs for his victory

I've got it on video lucky. Two views. Try and get it posted on YouTube so you can see I didn't really do anything abnormal from my replay. Fully convinced we was victims of lag.

Does your replay show you coming in front of me or does it have you staying right as you passed me right before braking point. My replay shows you come over in front after the pass. Wondering if that caused the lag issue.

GT5's servers are starting to be as crappy as COD's. iRacing sounds better each time the lag makes issues in important races.

i will watch replay again in a few minutes and reply in the from on pm but i really think that we had that race all to our selfs whatever happened caused us both first and second place points , sorry boys but that race is over if i didn't get punted we had ran away and were still opening the gap. man that nsx was fast all day even after heavy damage early

I hear you. The unreliability of GT5 Online is really detracting from the whole experience, and really putting me off taking so much time to prepare for these races. iRacing definitely sounds a lot better. However I lack a network adapter for my PC and the necessary money, so that won't be happening for a while

Lucky. I agree we had it pretty much wrapped up. My intentions was to follow you using the draft to maintain pace with the NSX.

Was completely gutted when that happened. Those unexpected moments startle a guy. Having two subs and butt kicker on my cockpit. It was pretty violent.

The Cappy race lag punt was worst I'd had. I assume it was what you felt then. Like getting hit by a X1 at full speed from behind.

Anyway, IMO the behind car is responsible even if lag is involved. So with that I def accept blame. Looking at this from a real world perspective. Car behind needs to maintain control. Even if lag is involved. It is what it is. A rearending.
