If I remember rightly, the Henschel required the pilot to lie on his belly with his head in the glazed nose. I'm not sure why that seems scarey.

Here's a strange device.

I think it might be too strange (I can't find it on Google!) so here's something easier.

It looks like a captured Gotha transport. I can't think of the number... but I've seen those skate wheels before. It might also be an Arado product.

[edit] Yeah, I found the number. Arado 232.

Could well be, but the 232 has two engines. It's hard to tell but it looks like the one in the pic has four. I'm not sure though, is that part of a prop poking up above the canopy?

It kind of looks like it, you're right; but I thought it was possibly a radio aerial.

It looks way to big to be an aerial. And it looks kinda behind as well. But it looks too close to the fuselage to be another prop. I have no Idea.

This went through a few changes, mostly around different engine types. But it never went anywhere, though it looks good in this version.

Good work! Nice looking plane all told, but it was judged as "too derivative" and never really pursued. 911's go.

Hmmm. It looks like an Avro Lancaster but with only two engines. Are those French flags on the tail?

I also thought a Manchesterish bloodline, but its wings are too flat and of course, the fixed undercarriage mixes things up.

Ah, didn't notice the fixed undercarriage. That gives us the clue that it was quite an early model. Probably pre WWII.

There are about 47 different airplanes it could be. England was crazy about developing medium bombers like this. It's like every air wing had to be armed with an exclusive aircraft. I have some guesses but I'll try to find time to look into it later....

Just a tiny little point. Not really pedantry. While one could make a case for claiming that it is the English who are responsible for the wars fought under the Union Flag, in fact it is the British. Britain has several parts that are not in England. The United Kingdom has even more.

Come to think of it; perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps what you meant was that the people in Scotland and Wales were not enthusiastic about bombers but the English were!

I am now getting off my high horse. Diolch yn fawr (thank you very much).
