Wastegate
Is it the Saunders-Roe S.R.A.1?

Yay! Via google I can confirm it is. You turn to post a pic then Wastegate 👍

I apologise if this one is too easy, but I'm new here and my knowledge of aircraft is patchy to say the least.

Hey dont worry about not being too knowledgeable. My knowledge is primarily WWII. 911_Carrera and Neon_Duke are pretty much teh kings of this. ;)

Welcome 👍

That big-a$s nose is interesting, as are the markings.....

I think the insignia mean it is Romanian.

And that means it is probably an IAR 80. (I think there was an 81 and an 82).

Surprisingly competent plane independently designed but for German engines..

Correct.

It's the plane carrying the surrender from the Japanese to the Americans.

It was specially painted white with green crosses at the request of the Americans.

Thanks for the praise, whilst people post pictures of WW2 planes I have a chance. Here's one for you guys...

Glad to see this thread alive and kicking in my absence!

Would that be a Dewoitine D-520?

Well, it's not WWII, so I apologize, but it's cool nonetheless. This was a version of a different aircraft, desigend for better fuel economy.

With google, I found out that is a Republic XF84H. Apparently it was one of the loudest planes ever.

Indeed it was; dubbed the "Thundershriek". Turboprop version of the F-84 Thunderstreak. For quite a while it held the record as the world's fastest propellor-driven aircraft, though I think the Bear bomber and maybe some of the Unlimited-class air racers from Reno have since beaten it.

Without doing any research, I'd say that your big seaplane is either a Bennelli or a Camproni.

Nope and nope. Think France ;)

Think France? C'est une Loire Nieuport LN-10, n'est pas?

It was an experimental reconnaissance/torpedo bomber, here's a picture of it flying - with the aid of a crane.

Yeah, I didn't think that was quite right.

Is it a Republic P-43, which was developed from the P-35? Or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely?

I can't come up with this one - I'm having the hardest time. Well, actually, I have no time, which is why it's hard to come up with.
