Gay. Totally gay. Love the men. Married to one, at least in practice - which is all my state currently allows.
The point that follows from this - car culture in America is a VERY predominantly heterosexual, and at times, homophobic affair. As such, anyone who knows me from other threads knows that in that past I've tread carefully, linguistically, in revealing my sexual preference. Why the bloody <bleep> should I have?
Why? Do you remeber the episode of Top Gear where they attempted to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway? When Jeremy pointed at "NASCAR country", he pointed at me, basically, an hour in the direction of his finger. I've actually BEEN at that overlook. The dealership where, off camera, he finally was able to replace his blown tire is probably ten minutes from my house.
In my state, currently, my OWN civil rights are offered up for referendum this May. My right to legally commit to my partner is subject to the vote of people who think that the Civil War was just the first step ... and I ought to be specific about this. Right now I can't "marry" my partner - it's not specifically allowed in my state. The ammendment up for vote is NOT a vote to legalize such a commitment, it's a vote to SPECIFICALLY, PERMANENTLY, and FOREVER, dissalow such a union.
Understand my trepidation?
Given that, this is a pretty great thread, insofar as how it's framed. Sexuality is treated very casually and considered just another characteristic of "people you might like to get to know"; as it should be.
