I most likely won't be able to participate in this weeks race. I have to work tomorrow and don't think I'll be home in time. Hopefully I can make Le Sarthe next week. Good luck everyone racing!

I'm not sure how long the race will run exactly, will have to leave at about 5:30, hopefully that will carry me to the finish.

It will be key for me that we start on time I think, very close.

Yeah if we go one minute past the prescribed start time I'm out.

I've got Uni tomorrow for the first time in 4 months  so hopefully we don't start too late. 👍

My internet is being a humongous douchebag right now.

I'll get the room up, but after that, I can't guarantee anything. Hopefully somebody gets in the room right away just in case.

lol more net failures like last week  (cant say mine is much better though :scared:)

Refresh....... refresh................. refresh ....................cmon!

OFFICIAL RACE ROOM

1472-6118-4259-7714-2751

Hurry up. We're starting asap. Don't be late, or you risk missing the race.

NO TURBOS OR ENGINE STAGES ALLOWED

This is a Spec series. If you have a turbo on your car, it shows you have not read the OP.

It said I was incompatible with the room host! Restarted joining again!

Hope it ended well for you guys, gf came up and told me the time, decided to not hold Nepalli up any longer.
I'd had cruel intentions of holding him behind me until close to my final stop to have a small chance, it was potentially close for me and Welsh even more so.

Pretty good racing from what I saw, had un unfortunate mishap early on, s(not sure name) went wide entering the final turn, It appeared he was letting me by, but in the narrow part our cars met.:( (in a bad way)
Another S driver (really sorry, just dont know names yet) was doing his best to hold me up a bit later, was doing a good job of it too 👍 eventually I found my way round and started the chase.
A small tap on the rear entering chicane from GV27 pushed me just far enough off line I clipped the wall coming out, not sure if he swerved into the wall or what after that, but went into the right wall coming out of the chicane almost immediately after I got away from the wall, just a racing thing, big deal from my view.

Most importantly, it was fun, even if I had to quit early, look forward to next week.

My tyres were a bit damaged, so I miscalculated a couple of meters and rubbed you. Absolutely not on purpose. It's a racing thing for me; not important at all. I hope all's right for you in this! 👍

I messed up with the strategy, big time. I tried to go two-stops, but I wasn't able to make my tyres last that long, and once I found out, it was too late. If I had gone three-stops from the beginning, I would have had a better result, I believe. Still, it's disappointing when you're not so slow, and you end up on second-to-last. Ah well, better luck for La Sarthe, I hope. But I'm reaching a point where I'm starting to need a decent result already!

i did a 2 stop (lap 16,34) and it worked fine for me :sly: making up more than 20seconds i lost with my blackcreen on quite a few people who 3 stopped. but gutted on my blackscreen it took me out of any real racing :( (i rekon i should gt 10 seconds atleast off my finishing time to compensate i know id still be 7th but meh its a matter of fairness for me)

 Sorry, I meant not a big deal, just missed the important word.
It wasn't hard enough to be intentional, no worries from me.👍

For some reason I was thinking I needed 18 laps to go 2-stop, so I gave up and pitted on 15, and 26 I think, would have pitted on 37 for final run.

From what I saw of Welsh and Nepalli, I assume 3 stop was the way to go here, with such short stops.
What did Aderrrm do?

Ironically the top 7 were essentially in exact "start" order when I had to go. (Welsh and Nepalli had no stops left) That humored me a bit.

I did 2 stops, but I should have done 3. Wiifreak outsmarted me by doing 3 stops. I took a risk in doing 2 stops, but didnt work out so well.

Congrats to Aderrrm. He's given me the big realization that I don't know Monaco as well as I thought I did. Time to run around there a few more times I guess :D

Wiifreak has gotta be the best pit strategist on the boards. There's been so many times where I would pull a lead on him only to come short at the end due to bad strategy. Today it almost happened again but I was lucky enough to keep him at bay.

Somehow, he'll make you think you've got the race in your pocket only to come flying past you when you do your last stop.

I'll have to learn from Wiifreak then, as I think strategies is where I'm lacking more, right now.

@CSL, I'm glad then!! :D

When I make my strategy, I basically think "what is everyone else going to probably do?", and then I do the complete opposite :dopey: Of course there are some races where there isn't much room to play around with pit strategy, so I have to "go with the flow" in those cases. However pit strategy comes into play a lot with the Integra's since they tear through tires very quickly, which opens the door for fun strategies :)

I just saw Sarthe is next. :D
I haven't had my fill yet.

Don't run out of gas guys.... jk

Yeah this one will actually be a proper endurance. I just wish we could have time change at least... Weather would be even better... PLEASE!

Race 5: Mini-Enduro @ Circuit de la Sarthe (with day-night cycle and dynamic weather)
Date: October 9th
Distance: 29 laps / 250 Miles
Winner:

I think "10" means 10X reality speed, this looks like 10 might just take it full circle in the race. (Not sure about lap times yet.)

Hopefully it works out like the Vette race, good call Wardez.

Amazingly found myself in 3rd place after the shenanigans at the first corner but any ideas of a podium went out the window as I settled down into my mobile chicane first stint. I'm really not great at driving as fast as I can and trying to save tyres. So I soon had aderrrrm, GV and CSL up my trumpet. Apologies to aderrrm as I think I squeezed him a bit going down into the Loewes hairpin. Wasn't intensional, just didn't see him. Decided on a 3 stopper early doors as like I said, crap at saving tyres and hunkered down for the duration. Got lucky at one point as GV lost it on rubbish tyres at the first corner. The last stint was my best stint as I always finally crack the going fast and saving tyres part. But it's always to late by then. My screen was telling me I was in 5th and Wiifreak was down in 11th, but in truth I was in 6th and he was in 3rd I think. After I watched a bit of the replay, from the first corner he was running round minus his rear bumper in true BTCC style. Kudos for that! And kudos for Aderrrm for another great win and to mule/wardez for hosting. Thoroughly enjoyable hour and twenty

Just wrote a 5 minute reply then accidentily clicked back so...

Meant to start on pole. Started in 3rd. Dropped to 8th after first corner after Wardez hit me. Took 6th up the hill after Nige and CSL let me pass (or just took a very wide line :P). Tried to take GV into the tight hairpin - exact copy of Hamilton v Massa (Wardez acting as Webber!). Bit messy from then on. After sleeping on it I've decided not to report anything - meh it's Monaco.

After taking the lead just before my first pit stop, WiiWizard popped up after my pit stop and was going quite quickly! I thought he was on a 1 stopper, but he must have had fresh rubber on = 3 stopper.

I did a 2 stopper, but always had 1 or 2 bars more of grip in my tyres than anyone else (at least in the first stint) which probably helped me pull off the 2 stopper better than other people. Never saw myself doing a 3 stopper tbh.

Cheers. :)

Same Aderrrm i couldnt see why people were doing 3 stops as on the lap when i seen everyone pit my tyres were fine so i said to myself great this is what i need after the blackscreen...... sure enough it helped me gain almost enough to catch Syjones but his last stint was too fast (but minus 20seconds or so from my time im equal or ahead :sly:)

Looks like it was an interesting race, good to see Paul actually finish one(still with a bit of bad luck though). Also as I read through the race reports, I concure that Wii always seems to have a great pit strategy, he nipped me at gp-d on the second to last lap for 4th. Thought I had him beat, only for him to come by me and I had no fight in me by the time he was on my bumper.

On another note, I hope to be in for la sarthe next week, but as a wise man once said, "hope is doubt, hope is doubt my friend". Stupid cable companies.

To be honest, I feel the same way. There was some rubbing here and there, and I'm sure I was not as clean as I could have been either. But I don't want to report anything. Monaco is nerve-wracking, and I know it's hard for everyone, psychologically, so I understand sometimes clashes may happen as a result of a small mistake and, especially, the general lack of space and overtaking chances.

I started off as Welsh suggested, aiming to leave everyone by (started 2nd, thx pd  ) Right after I let you by it clicked in my head, I saw the list we were in and said "screw it", everyone was everywhere.

At the very least I think it spiced the race up a bit, I still find it ironic that at least the top 7 were aligned eventually, and even up to lap 33 with pit stops left. (1 for me, 0 for Nep and Welsh)

BTW - At least from what I've seen, the hardest thing to do in GT5 is follow someone slower than you. I see it on every track, but Monaco is the worst, because it often leads to "just enough faster" that it looks like you have spots to pass where you just don't have quite enough room.

Guys, physics are changing, according to what Kaz said, after installing Spec 2.0. So the last race with "old" physics will be La Sarthe this weekend.

And when I thought I was getting adapted to the car, everything will change and will have to start the process again!
