The whole colour scheme of that car works really well, I quite like the contrast of the red rollcage to the blue bodywork.
Yea that royal blue pearl turned out to be a little too dark for my liking when I tested it on this car and that bright interior really brings some life into it. Of course I am not changing the color of the car because I was planning on sticking with it no matter what it turned out to be. I don't plan on adding decals ether.

Good job with the interior. I've yet to put any decent amount of time into doing those.

Edit 23 hours later:

I wanted to get rid of the casting for a long time, but there's no demand so I decided to buff it up a while ago.
Only problem was I had no other sub for the windows until recently.
The blue windows are out. The black interior is out. The blue tires are also out.
It now looks more like a tasteless lowrider than a goofy toy.
Most of you might not even like it, but who cares about you anyway. :P j/k

@Emmcee I see a Fiat hiding in the background of the picture... a widebody would look AWESOME on one of those.

You mean this one? Still needs a heck of alot if work to be finished, tidying up etc.

Thank you! :) It was all done with a toothpick. ;) I always like to put excessive amounts of detailing on the interiors. (Unless I am going for something realistic and it don't ask for much)

Sensible choice for that Continental. Good job! 👍

Well here is another custom I recently finished! :) I really need to stop being lazy and start taking more photos of my work in progress! :ouch:

I had once said before that I wanted to do things no one had done before and to shine some light on some of the most underrated castings Hot Wheels had ever done, so I decided to do a Pontiac Salsa! :) The Pontiac Salsa is in my opinion a fabulous little concept car and I don't ever recall anyone ever doing a custom of this little beast so when I seen this thing again in my local antique mall, I realized it was a duplicate of one I already had, so I felt it was time I finally customized one. :mischievous:

When I got it, it started out like this. A nice casting from the start but I wanted to do something different for it.

So I then proceeded to take it apart....

For the interior detailing, I didn't do as much this time. I had done some research on the Pontiac Salsa's interior and I noticed parts of it was was made to match the color of the car while other parts where black. Considering the interior was already black, I didn't have to do much to it, but I still did it where it counts. :)

Although I failed to get photos of this when it was being done, the casting was later stripped of its original paint. I wanted to give this Pontiac a color that had never been done before. Did some looking around and I decided to paint it with Testors Star Spangled Blue.

Once that was done, I finally gave it some much needed details.

Made the headlights white as well as the fog lights and for the first time ever, I actually detailed the windshield black. Since it was metal and obviously a part of the body, that was why I did it.

Detailed the part around the pillar black and I even detailed the mirrors! (See next photo)

And finally I detailed the taillights and part of the trunk. Debated on detailing the mufflers, but since I liked them chrome, I decided to leave them alone.

And here it is the final result! :)

And here it is in the blister.

I really didn't want much for this casting to start with. Just a change in color and some detailing, nothing like wheels swaps or decals. Just something simple. Through it all I learned more on how to detail castings and avoid making costly mistakes. In the end, I really enjoyed working with this casting and I was glad to finally do a nice casting that had never been done before. I hope more opportunities like this will come in the near future. :)

Yeah a $1 casting, thought it was pretty nice so I got it. Changed to a few set if wheels but I Beleive this sits well with those wheels.

I've thought of getting a couple, but whenever I do want to, I can't find them.

Then when I don't want them, every kmart has them haha.

You really need to patch up the yellow areas in the hood. They look laughable.

As for me, the upcoming Hot Wheels Mexico Club custom contest is restoration-themed. I have several projects going on at the same time now, all of which I had already cracked open/stripped a long while ago. I'm trying to get old projects out of the freezer, as several of them have been in bare zamac for more than two years. I'll also enter the Majorette Alpine A310 V12 that I showed you guys a whiiiile ago. I tore it appart to swap the wheels, lower it, polish the windshield up and redo the rear diffuser. That one could have a chance.

I should have in the end, shouldn't I? I didn't think about it until I looked back at my photos, but I feared I'd overload the balance of black to yellow so I've left it since, despite it making complete sense to colour it in.

Thanks. Body can't go much lower with such massive wheels. While the gap is present, I never found it appealing in sport cars to have the arc and the circle not form a parallel curve.

If the proportions of the casting weren't stretched to accommodate the big wheels, I may have just went with small wheels after adding some putty. Unfortunately I did not this time as I liked the decals. A retailer buff it will stay. I've a 2012 Heat Fleet I'm more than willing to redo. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with red windows and I've got no substitute part. I'll have to come up with something of toyish fiction.

Yeah I see what you mean, catch 22 hey? I like the factory decals and design also, so if we're talking like that, then I think you made the right decision.

So, our final post on the 2014 Mexico Convention contains our favorites and why we liked them, as well as coverage of the event in general, including the real car show. clickety:

I can see I am not the only one who has customized a Motorhome. I really dig that Motorhome for sure! 👍 I really need to finish mine already....

Also is that a mint version of the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow I see in the display?
