Hey it's been a long long time since my last post. I've been very busy lately and yesterday i found one of my very first die cast when i was a kid, no brand, made in China. i don't even know what car model is this, can anyone tell me? I've been workin on it for 2 days, made a new base from a galvanized steel to replace the old and broken plastic base. Got the wheels from some kentoys or jadatoys, i forget the brand. the interior is also stolen from that car lol, with some sanding and cutting, it fits in my project car. I still need to sand the inside of the fender because it touch the wheels, i also planned to paint the car and the rims white. And btw it is not 1:64, it is slightly bigger.

This is the car

The cars after the paint stripped, with all the new parts from the ken or jada toys.

The interior is already painted, so i dont need extra energy to paint these little things lol

The wheels is very detailed, with disc brakes and rubber tire. unfortunately these things don't fit in 1:64

On the left is the base i made from galvanized steel and on the right is the original pullback plastic base.

What car is this?

Haha, that's cool! The car is a Mazda RX7, btw.

Thx mate, i was confused whether it was an FC or an old supra. Turns out it is indeed an FC RX7 :)

And Cano, what paint do you use to paint die cast? i use canned spray paint and the paint is always easily peeled. how to make the paint hard like the original paint?

You will never have paint as hard as the original, which goes trough an industrial oven and other processes to make it hard as it is. However, your paint should not just peel off like that. Are you using primer? If you do, you should be quite fine as long as you don't, you know, play around with it or something. The paint is delicate but shouls hold on fine.

Yes i always use grey or green primer, maybe i should try another brand of paint. my dad made steel doors that's where i got my scrap of galvanized steel. He has good paint which stick to the steel well, but the color is awful.

It's odd, then. Yeah you could try with another brand of paint or primer, but I find it extremely odd that your paint simply comes off like that. You could also try to clear it out after paint, but I'm affraid that if the paint doesn't stick well to the base primer, it will stil come off regardless of clear or not.

Yep, I'll try with a different brand of primer. I still need to sand the fender first. I'll post the pics after i paint it later

Sorry, didnt' notice I forgot to show the finished product. Well, here it is.

You can't even see this in person. The tail lights look amazing.

[EDIT]
This is the car with its truck and trailer.

I used tooth picks for the front, and side "braces". Since I took this pic, the tooth picks have been painted black. The truck now has Matchbox's version of TSL Boggers, a custom (and embarassingly crappy) lift, and removed the front bumper.

Doesn't look like an FC to me. More like first generation SA. Just like this one.

Ohh right.. sorry lol. I dont really know mazda's model as i dont really like them haha. thx for the info btw mate :)

Yeah no worries, I love rx7's my dream car is a Bathurst edition fd rx7, there so rare now as they don't make rx7's anymore, they make the rx8 instead.

Is this one of those classic Matchbox Lensey cars from the 1960s? Just curious, as they are very valuable nowadays.

Well, it's not from the 60s, it's trom the mid-late 70s, but yes it's a original Matchbox Lesney car. They're not that valuable either, pretty average value for a Mini HaHa, and absolutely worthless in this shape.

This, on the other side, is quite a bit more rare and valuable, maybe even in this condition.

I love the nissans better especially silvia s15 and skyline r33. But for mazda i prefer rx7 than rx8, the one in the tokyo drift movies is dope. That veilside bodykit is really cool

I have an old school r31 that I've spent some dollars on, the one in Tokyo drift is an fd rx7 with an re amemiya kit not veil side. The red fd rx7 in the first fast and furious movie that vin diesel drove, that had a veil side kit.

They stopped the RX8 a while ago.

really?? But i remember i saw a veilside sticker on that orange rx7 in tokyo drift and i remember the body kit name is veilside fortune. I think both han and dom rx7 are veilside but different model

No, your actually 100% correct I was thinking it was the re amemiya kit that looks strikingly similar. My bad

yeahh.. no worries mate, we all make mistakes lol. car and bodykit model variation is too many, we can't remember all of them haha

Ian in the middle of making a Holden Ve sportswagon. By chopping the front of a matchbox Holden ve ss ute and joining it to a matchbox cadellac cts wagon. Should turn out great by got to modify the rear taillights also. I hope it's not one of those "easy" jobs that has a hell of alot more work than first anticipated.

Here's what iam doing

And this is what I want to achieve as I have this exact car, same colour to, would be neat to put it on my dashboard if it turns out well enough

I thought the wheels were pretty close to. And the stock ride height is bang on aswell. Even the plastic fit nice and snug and you'll clearly see it says cadellac on the bottom.

I like this project. Howeverm it's obvious it's going to need a lot of work in te rear to make it work. Eager to see how it turns out 👍

Thanks, yeah your right, I have to totally redesign the tail lights and modify the tail gate to resemble the actual car. But it's the closet thing body shape wise that would fit the Holden front end nicely and still look right. Plus the cadellac body is very similar. It won't be 100% accurate but as close as it can possibly be as the is no casting for this particular car.

You're*

Have you got any ideas how to get the Holden's rear lights? They're more squarish than the vertical rectangle the CTS has, if I'm not mistaken.

I planed on using putty and just sanding them down almost flush and sanding away the vertical lights of the cadellac. I've made complete lights out of putty before. I have an old early 90s fd rx7 casting which had no taillights on the rear at all due to poor cast detail. But the lights I made for that were bang on. That's my only hope other than just painting them on. But you won't get that same curved effect as its not actually cast into the body. Putty will be my first go, got to get it out to blend the joins in anyway.
