Does anyone know how to get paint off paint?

In the factory sometimes they smudge the surface with a different colour from a car which was being produced at the same time.

Is there anything safe to get it off, I tried rubbing alcohol and it didn't work. Any thoughts?

It would be really hard trying to remove paint from paint, without taking both layers off. Maybe try some acetone, it's meant to be great at removing printed areas/Tampos, but be careful as it can be quite aggressive. 👍

It's a corvet grand sport its A nice pece but I don't have the ability to restore it to that beautiful blue with all the racing tampos so il go silver I think

The paint is not coming out that easy I'm going to have to brake out the sand blaster

Maybe try a wire brush, though sand blasting does sound like good fun, and quick too. 👍

Thanks for the tip Nessy, I will carefully give it a go but I think yeah paint on paint is pretty much impossible to get off without it maybe looking worse. That's quality control these days for you!

Couple more Ive quickly detailed and lowered as much as possible, had fun with the barracuda.

I'm sure the tampos on the Barracuda will erase right off with some acetone, while leaving the green paint in perfect condition. If I recal correctly, the car has the same paint as this:

Try and polish it off. Or sand it off and polish the damaged clearcoat later.
Should be fine since the paint smudge is over the clear coat of the 'real' paint.

Do these cars even have a clear coat? I would have thought it's just straight shiny paint (unless it's spectraflame).

They don't. Acetone should work.

That particular green paint doesn't. I think very few factory paint colours do however. Some are painting on very thin and acetone tears through to the base easily. Other times I rubbed acetone on a body, the paint will lose its gloss and lose some saturation to the colour. I see this as paint layers being reduced without reaching the metal.

Sand blasting was fun

Now the detailing is almost finish also working on a gnx so it just got his paint job

His interior is almost finish as well

The silver on that Vette looks pretty good. Also that's a Monte Carlo, not a GNX. It also looks good.

I stripped the paint and here's a WIP picture.

Yes, those are plastic sticks held in place with super glue. Very high-tech painting equipment here. After painting I'll just break the bond. They're glued where it won't be visible.

I'm not done painting yet, this is just the first coat. There are specks on the hood because my airbrush started coughing up paint mid-way through painting. Those will be sanded and painted over, so it's no big deal.

The paint is actually a tiny bit darker than it looks like on the picture.

Yes! That's the one. Liked the color, and the paint held up surprisingly fine all the tampo deleting.

Mainline $1 cars do not, some or most premium level cars do.

In the USA they sell for $.88 cents at Walmart usually. Target is usually $.92 cents, and most smaller stores like Dollar General are over $1.

While it's no surprise things in Australia cost more than other first world nations, the US also gets things for a much lower prices than others. It's hardly a fair comparison, so try not to feel so bad about it.

Gonna take a few pictures tomorrow. Got a JL 1965 Mustang Fastback I painted purple, and added a roll cage. I also still need to take a side pic of the SRT Hellcat. If it is sunny out tomorrow, Ill take and post pics

Well the GNX that is available has the stupid lift hood an I will not custumize a car I don't like what made the GNX different from the Monte Carlo was the fact that maclaren developed the engen wich unfortunately this car does not have so in my mind it is a GNX well wen I'm finish with it

And thx I like the silver on it to all it needs now is some clear and that's it for the vette

Both finished working on a superdird will lower suspension give it a new color also a super bee just taking off tampos and giving it a rumble bee stripe

Also giving the super bee a aggressive stance see how it turns out

This civic had pretty sweet paint and decals so I just lowered it,detailed lights and interior and also painted the rims.

Okay, so I have the pictures I promised. Here is the SRT Hellcat.

I finished up the exhaust tips, and I am not even going to try the reverse lamps. Lol

Here is the Johnny Lightning 1965 Mustang Fastback. I was not going to share this one originally, so there are no progress photos. But here is the end product.

This is the motor I put in it. The original was all grey, and I opted for this blue engine from a Greenlight 1967 Mustang Coupe.

This is the car the blue motor came from, along with the original grey motor.

The wheels originally had white rims, they were taken from a Falken Tire AAR Cuda.

This is the reason I was not going to post this for. The roll cage is off centered. But its not a huge deal.
