How do you intend to play GT5? (HDTV-SDTV/PC monitor/wheel/controller)

I need to update what I will be playing GT5 with. Sony Bravia 40" LCD, full 1080P, 60gb PS3, Logitech G25, and I have now ordered a Obutto Ozone gaming rig. I will reverse mount my pedals when I get the rig. I have already done the resistance mod and no clicking mod to my shifter (I love the no clicking mod the best).

Sony XBR9 46" LCD 240hz
G27 + Obutto

will purchase a home theater setup for $500 or less sometime as well. It's difficult to do all this in an upstairs apartment ;/

24/7 White knuckle grippin, heart poundin', neck and neck racin.

That's how I plan on playing GT5.

hi guys.i am ready for the best game ever.
Sony Bravia 46'' FullHD 1080p - Takuma Sato playseat - G27

1. 42" Toshiba 1080
2. Driving Force Pro
3. Wheel Stand Pro
4. Coffee machine 3 meters away ;)

32" Samsung TV and a DFGT (bought it two days ago, love it).

Was going for the G27 and playseat combo, but then my wife got pregnant (which is a blessing, don't get me wrong), and we're going to buy a house and *magic poof* all the money is gone :D

Nice DFGT/IKEA combo you have going there. I tried the same thing, but my couch is too high/table too low.

I just wanted to say that i finally got my G27 & Wheelstand pro setup last night. I plugged the wheel into the PS3, loaded up GT5P, and wow... what a difference. This is the first time i have used a force feedback wheel, and the difference is night and day.

The throttle control made possible by the pedals instantly lowered my lap times. Moreover, the precision provided by the wheel along with the feeling of being connected to the road is priceless.

Anyone considering a FFB Wheel purchase... Trust me, the money is worth it.

By the way, the Wheelstand pro is awesome. Perfectly stable, easily adjustable, also 100% worth the purchase.

I got my Wheelstand Pro this morning, and tomorrow my DFGT should arrive. Can't wait. :)

You are going to love it.

cool
I can be a bit of a hard gamer at times. Do you notice much left/right flexing of the unit post during use?
thanks!
:)

G27 on a 23" Dell U2311H 1080P IPS PC Monitor. I would play on my TV, but I don't have a good way to set up my wheel in front of my television. So I replaced my PC monitor just so I would have a HD compliant one for GT5.

I do need to figure out something with the pedals though, as the angle my ankles need to be at to work the pedals quickly tire out those muscles and cause a lot of soreness. Anyone play at their computer desk have the same problem?

G27 w/ 40" Sony HDTV, currently redesigning the cockpit. I got it back from powder coating yesterday.

An HDTV definitely - I have a Samsung 46" 1080p.
As for a wheel, well I don't want to get one unless it is high quality. I like the look of the G27, but it's a tad expensive.
I do have the Logitech GT3 wheel that I used with GT3 and GT4 on my PS2. A great wheel (as pictured elsewhere in this post). Will it work with GT5?

I suppose it depends on the definition of "much".

While there is slight movement in the stand, it is honestly not something i notice while playing. The Wheelstand Pro is plenty stable. I would recommend the purchase to anyone looking for a reasonably priced setup that can be conveniently stored out of sight.

A pretty basic setup thus far: 22 inch Full HD monitor + controller. Furthermore a 2.1 surround set. Might be upgrading to a bigger TV in the future. :)

Question for anyone that sees this, related to the wheel/controller setups. On a G25 or G27, how exactly does changing the FF settings (and any other possible settings) work when using it on the PS3?

I use a table too.. It's higher though, with bricks under the feet it is about 29 inches high in the front (where G25 is attached) and about 27.5 inches in the back. It's a 24 inch table naturaly, with 2 regular red building bricks under each foot. I have it shimmed up in the front (toward me) - that way the wheel is angled up a little because the table is tilted slightly up towards me. The tilt isn't totally necessary, but it helps to dial in the hight and tilt of the wheel.

That way I can use a regular kitchen chair or office chair or whatever. I use a comfortable kitchen chair that's about 17.5 inches high at the seat. I have a foam cushion that raises that by about 1.5 inches when compressed. It's very comfortable for long racing sessions- the chair even has armrests. After an hour or so armrests are pretty important -to me anyway, but I have a messed up left shoulder.

Anyway getting to the point... if you want to give your table a super sturdy and stable feel, nail the feet to the floor.. No just kidding, ;-) but if you want it to almost feel like it's nailed down, find a heavy weight to put on the table right in front of the wheel. If it's a metal plate weight for weight lifting it works well with a rubber mousepad or something like that under it to protect the table and keep the weight from sliding around.. I have a cylinder of steel that I found that's about 5 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches high that weighs about 27 pounds. It might be iron actually, it's really heavy for it's size.

This weight gives a VERY solid feel while sawing at the FF wheel with FF cranked up. It really doesn't move much at all, and if the table ever moves it's when I put direct upward pressure against forcefeedback. Even then it might come up only a fraction of an inch on one side and come straight back down. In two years I've never had an issue with anything shifting around too much or anything tipping over, etc... and I race just as hard as I would with a cockpit with everything bolted down.

Something to try for all you table racers out there if you haven't already thought of it.

Just placed my order today for the G27 and Wheel Stand Pro. Playing a on 50 inch Sony Bravia 1080p. Really hoping i made the right choice with picking up a wheel. I have never tried one before on a console or PC

50" LG plasma ($20, won in raffle:sly:) Had my g27 for a week now, got it mounted on a work bench for the time being. Just getting used to the 900 degree steering but loving this wheel
