I am going to play with Logitech Driving Force GT (which arrived today) and my 1080P 32" Samsung LCD TV. I have just got a 120GB PS3 Slim for free so I have 10GB for install lol, I have two PS3's now, my old 40GB does nothing now and is 3 years old now.

Is this your first wheel? If so, how are you enjoying it?

got a 1080p 40" samsung lcd, with a logitech driving force gt.

ordered a new playseat (the black alcantara one) and should have it in by tuesday. once i'm all set up, i'll add a pic.

only other thing i need to upgrade to is a sound system. as with most lcd's, the sound on the samsung's ok for watching tv, but not for getting blown away in a game. might just hook up an old pioneer system we've got lying around.

I have a 32" inch HDTV in my bedroom =D But I will sadly only be using a Dualshock 3 controller :( I cant afford a wheel and I don't have the space... hoping to get a Drving Force GT...

i use a table too.. It's higher though, with bricks under the feet it is about 29 inches high in the front (where g25 is attached) and about 27.5 inches in the back. It's a 24 inch table naturaly, with 2 regular red building bricks under each foot. I have it shimmed up in the front (toward me) - that way the wheel is angled up a little because the table is tilted slightly up towards me. The tilt isn't totally necessary, but it helps to dial in the hight and tilt of the wheel.

That way i can use a regular kitchen chair or office chair or whatever. I use a comfortable kitchen chair that's about 17.5 inches high at the seat. I have a foam cushion that raises that by about 1.5 inches when compressed. It's very comfortable for long racing sessions- the chair even has armrests. After an hour or so armrests are pretty important -to me anyway, but i have a messed up left shoulder.

Anyway getting to the point... If you want to give your table a super sturdy and stable feel, nail the feet to the floor.. No just kidding, ;-) but if you want it to almost feel like it's nailed down, find a heavy weight to put on the table right in front of the wheel. If it's a metal plate weight for weight lifting it works well with a rubber mousepad or something like that under it to protect the table and keep the weight from sliding around.. I have a cylinder of steel that i found that's about 5 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches high that weighs about 27 pounds. It might be iron actually, it's really heavy for it's size.

This weight gives a very solid feel while sawing at the ff wheel with ff cranked up. It really doesn't move much at all, and if the table ever moves it's when i put direct upward pressure against forcefeedback. Even then it might come up only a fraction of an inch on one side and come straight back down. In two years i've never had an issue with anything shifting around too much or anything tipping over, etc... And i race just as hard as i would with a cockpit with everything bolted down.

Something to try for all you table racers out there if you haven't already thought of it.

loves it .

G25, Lg 32 inch Full HD, PS3 slim 120gb, Simple build cockpit, Old car seat.

I want to buy a Buttkicker gamer but it's not available anymore where I live:yuck:

I had one on PS2 but it was rubbish and broke lol, this is my first proper wheel, love it but got cramp in my arms now from Dirt2 lol. I bought GT5p today, I had it ages ago but I didn't like it with the controller but now I love it, feels so realistic. Just GT5 full game to finish the package lol. Add stetaylor639 on PSN if you want to play with me on it, spec 3 was already on disk so know messing about with those updates.

I'm getting a PS3 almost exclusively for GT5 (though will doubtless get some other games too like GTA4) and in my ignorance didn't even know you can hook the PS3 up to a PC monitor...nice, as my main TV is still CRT and I can't afford an HD TV til well into the new year. So big old CRT TV some of the time, smaller TFT monitor the rest of the time when i want a little more detail =)

In other news, I just registered, do I have to build up some kind of kudos before I am allowed to post a new thread?

you gotta make 100 posts b4 you can create a thread.

you'll probably enjoy the game on your monitor more, just because of the detail. plus you'll likely be closer than you would to your crt so it'll enhance it even more.

2008 46" Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV (1080p) with a Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. I picked up the wheel last weekend at a local computer chain. New at Best Buy Canada it would be $192 after tax, this refurbished one (which works perfectly) was $61 after tax. Attached it to an old nightstand (minus the drawer) that I had picked up years earlier for $10...it's the perfect height for steering when seated on my couch or computer chair.

First of all, this is my first post, so hello to everyone!

I am currently in college and living in a townhouse, so I dont quite have the materials or funds to pull off some of the awesome setups found in this thread, but right now Ive got my PS3 connected to a 32" 1080p Viore. I purchased the DFGT about 6 months ago, which I have mounted on the desk my TV is sitting on. The wheel is about 2 or 3 inches higher than desired, but as long as I take a short break every few hours it doesnt bother me in the least.

G25 wheel, Samsung 47" LED 3D HD, 7.1 surround where the subs are 2 12"DVC infinity kappa, and a dimly lit room.

Update for my setup :: it now includes a DFGT, which will be my first EVER wheel so I just hope I can get on with it after years of playing driving games with a dual shock.

Correct I play on a monitor and its amazing . Guys, I am getting a wheel but I'm not sure of which one. Pretty sure I am going to end up purchasing the g27. Is it worth it? I mean what advantages does it have over the dfgt? (I'm sure this question has been answered elsewhere in this thread but its long and i don't want to go back to look). I have read many reviews of both but most reviews seem to be fanboyish or written by people who don't know how to use the wheels. This is my first wheel so you can understand my concern.

DS3 on 52" Sony LCD 1080p HDTV

Would opt for a wheel, but the wife would give me all sorts of hell for it as the PS3 is in our main living room. :)

Dunno about the advantages over the DFGT... But, i recently purchased a G27 and Wheelstand Pro... the difference is night and day. Best gaming purchase i've made in years. The wheel really takes racing games to the next level.

I'm a n00b, but my impression is that the 27 has a clutch pedal, as well as 6 programmable buttons on the steering wheel itself. It also has pretty lights showing you RPMs, so you can judge when to shift gears. It's $300+ (CDN), and given the PS3 only cost me $400 (320 Gig Move bundle), I couldn't justify it. When I found a refurbished DFGT in a local store for $54, I knew what I had to do.

price is not important. I want to know how well made they are because I'm planning to get lots of use out of it. The reason I'm leaning more towards the g27 is the clutch. I have a few questions though. Is the shifter transferable from a 6 speed h to sequential up and down? Also if it does go sequential, In that mode does it use the clutch? I am asking because i want to use the type of transmission the car uses in real life. For example, if a car uses paddles I am going to use the paddles if it uses the 6 speed with the clutch I would like to do the same. Thank you for the help guys much appreciated.👍

Good on you sir. :)

Everyone starts at their first set up and builds themselves up over time. Mine used to be an old ikea desk chair with crayon scribbles all over it from the kids and hacked on plywood to make the pedals stay within the frame. All of this for $10.00.

A little while later realizing I'm quite serious about racing sims, I pooled up enough money for a G25 and Playseat Evo. See my post.
