Samsung is the way to go I think. I've had my Samsung LCD 40'' since 2007 and its been pretty good. However I don't think the TV likes displaying at 1080p (it can, however I have a feeling its a bad processing unit) as after a while you'll see lots of squiggly artifacts. It runs perfect at 1080i.

Also, 40 inches looks TINY when you're in the store when its next to a 50 inch, but when you bring it home, you're like oh damn that's pretty big.

Yeah ! Don't ever buy a t.v from costco 👍 they all look like bedroom monitors next to the 65 and 71inch monsters they have there.

price is not important. I want to know how well made they are because I'm planning to get lots of use out of it. The reason I'm leaning more towards the g27 is the clutch. I have a few questions though. Is the shifter transferable from a 6 speed h to sequential up and down? Also if it does go sequential, In that mode does it use the clutch? I am asking because i want to use the type of transmission the car uses in real life. For example, if a car uses paddles I am going to use the paddles if it uses the 6 speed with the clutch I would like to do the same. Thank you for the help guys much appreciated.👍

No, i do not believe the G27 has sequential up and down. I think it only has the H pattern and the paddles. My G27 is scheduled to be here on Wednesday so i may be able to help you with some questions. This too will be my very first wheel. I can't wait till it shows up!

Going to be dropping a large chunk of cash for GT5, buying the whole setup.

-50' Panasonic plasma
-G27 + Playseat
-PS3 + GT5

My wallet is going to hate me for a long time to come but it will be worth it!

Man, talk about starting out with the corner office!

i have voted for With a DualShock 3/Sixaxis on an HDTV. a few weeks ago! but have to change now..

:D Logitech DFGT + Speedmaster Playseat :D on Samsung 40" 100HzFullHD

Just the Dualshock3 on my 42" 1080p LCD rebadged LG panel, would love a wheel but my disability makes it impossible to use the pedals.

hey man.. maybe you can use the wheel.. with gas/brake on the buttonts? you have to try it!

Logitech Driving Force GT and 42" LCD HDTV from LG. I haven't played a GT game since GT4, which I last played in '07 or so. This will be the first time I'm using a steering wheel in a GT game, and a force feedback wheel for ANY game (my wheel is still untouched...), so I will likely drive like crap for some time. I do realize the problem with racing on professional physics with the DS3, though, so I thought getting a wheel seemed in place.

If its cash and you can pay for it 100% on your next CC statement, good on you, that was my build up (although not all at once).

if you're paying with CC and intend to carry that balance on future statements ad infinem, your wallet will for sure hate you for it. Just some food for thought, although you probably already knew this. 👍

so I will likely drive like crap for some time.

Yes it's the same with everyone switching from controller to wheel. I was terrible at Forza 2 starting out with the controller and wheeing towards the wheel. I spun out and had barely any control for the first few days. Give it time and your lap times will match if not exceed your controller times.

That would work, but unfortunately, pretty much all wheel buttons are not analog. It's 'on', or 'off' or nothing. gt3freak_2001 would have to find a way to modify the pedals into levers or something, and mount them on or close to the wheel. Wheels that have paddle shifters with a long throw might be doable, after some fiddling. A brief search online didn't yield any tutorials on modifications, but I'm sure someone out there has come up with something that doesn't require too much technical know-how.

If a Wii Wheel were compatible with GT5, that would be nice (tilt throttle and brake, steer as per usual)--though its lack of a solid base and force feedback would leave a bit to be desired.

There's this, but the review was less than favorable, and there is only vibration--no force feedback. I'm unsure about its compatibility with GT5, and there is no mention of its range of rotation.

It's unfortunate that peripheral manufacturers haven't stepped up to produce a solid 900° gaming wheel that includes every feature of the best wheels--all contained within easy reach.

Here is my setup. The wheel stand pro was worth every cent. :)

Quick update:

Got everything in and I am loving the setup, so much more control in games and such. Can't wait till GT5 comes out after trying this for the first time lol. Some pictures:

Cable management seems to still be an issue and sometimes my foot gets tangled in the wires for a moment which is getting annoying. Anyone have any tips on how to tunnel the wires best so they don't get in the way? I think I am going to get some tubing or something and try and run the cables through it and then under the pedals. Ideas? Here is a picture of the mess of wires I am talking about.

Once the wire issue gets resolved I should be able to move this all about, its quite light but very stable (not when you pull directly back at you though lol, I have a chair with wheels on the bottom and forgot how to lock the wheels in place heh, happened a few times).

I'm going to be trying Ferrari Thrustmaster Wireless F430 Gamepad because I don't have the room now to use my Gameracer Pro Race Seat. I do have the G25 though so if i don't get on with the pad i will buy the Wheelstand pro, i just can't be bothered sometimes to keep setting the wheel up. If anyone wants the Gameracer Pro fairly cheap i'm in the UK near notts England, it's as good as new with the seat raisers and gear stick attachment.

14" prehistoric Sony, or my 17" PC screen, whenever I play GT on a big TV I notice a lag between control inputs and actual response within the game, I don't like playing GT on big screens.

Yeah, good thread :). I'll be playing on my 42lcd in 1080i(that'll do until the projector arrives) but only with a original PS3 controller :( Wish I could buy a steering wheel but I can't afford it now.

On the other hand, I've got good sound with my NAD reviever and 5 Dali Speakers :sly:

Sony Bravia 40" 1080p LDC TV.

Sony 5.1 Dolby Digital Amp and speakers.

Logitech Driving force GT Pro Wheel.

Wheel Stand Pro mount.

Racing Bucket seat.

Not the best set up in the world but a great experience.

G27 + 50inch plasma (only 720p, my dad is such a noob at buying TV's). pretty much it. reverse mounted pedals though. + a ps3.

On a 32 inch 1080p LCD. Don't have a wheel for the PS3 yet so its a Dualshock 3 for me. And I'll be sitting on my nice soft leather lounge.... 24 hour enduros were never so comfortable.
