I'll probably play with controller till I can afford a PS3. After that, I'll have to save up all over again to buy a steering wheel. I'm too poor of a student. I own prologue and have already pre-ordered gt5, even though I don't own a ps3. I borrow my friend's ps3 to play.

HDTV: 103" 16:9 screen (128" if used in cinemascope) with a JVC RS10 projector

Sound: Pioneer VSX-74 receiver with 7 mirage speakers

Wheel: Asking for a Fanatec GT3 RS v2 wheel for Christmas with the CS pedals and a Rennsport stand.

Seating: Home theater seats (no room for a specialized cockpit in the home theater)

That sounds like an ad to me...

I would love to see some pictures of that setup! 👍

I'm not sure if I have any. I'll have to get some. Pictures of it aren't that exciting though. Just a big white screen with black surrounding. All the equipment is in the storage room beside the theater.

The wheel I have now is a crummy plain Driving Force from about 3 years ago that I hold between my legs. I can't wait to try a good FF wheel. The FF on my current wheel is not good, to say the least.

I haven't really been paying attetion to this thread, but now that I gave it a read, I found it interesting. Therefore, I'd like to contribute.

I'll be playing GT5 with a standard PS3 Sixaxis controller on a 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2494HS PC monitor. I have a Logitech G25 steering-wheel but I don't use it because, well, you can imagine how annoying it is to have your pedals sliding around all over the place as you're driving.

In that case, to the storage room! :dopey:

i have a number of options..

i could setup my ps3 to my 3D pc monitor... and use either controller or my G25

Or my small 40" HD TV..

OR my 109" canvas with HD projector and 5.1 highend surround..

oh the choice is so hard! :embarrassed:

Question:

I'm planing on getting the PS Eye cam for head tracking but I know it has a decent quality microphone built in. I'll be sitting really close to it anyway when playing GT5.... my question is.. does the camera mic work like the headset and transmit your voice in online gaming... so if I have the camera set up I should be able to set it up so other people's voices just get mixed in with the game audio (which most of the times I'll be wearing headphones for) and the mic will pick up my voice clearly enough I can chat to people while playing the game etc.?

This is a hardware/setup related thread so thought it's valid posting in here! I've never used voice chat on my PS3 (don't have a headset or the camera yet) so was just curious.

Looks like another person needs to post up some pics of their setups!

I have a PSEye but I don't recall ever using it for chat. I've always used a Bluetooth headset. That said, I would think that you should be able to have the PSEye set as the default input and headphones as the default output. If I get a chance once my wife is done using the TV I'll give it a go and see what happens.

I have a few questions for folks with Playseats:

1.) Does it disassemble where the black knobs are located?
2.) I assume it is pretty easy to disassemble?
3.) Anyone happen to have pics of what it looks like broken down?

I ask because I will be buying a Playseat for GT5 and then moving a couple months later. Just wondering how small it breaks down for the move.

I got my G27 hooked up to one of these bad boyz:

The bench top is adjustable so I can adjust the distance of the wheel closer or farther. This workmate does everything :dopey:

Pretty simple at my place - dual shock on a 40inch Sony LCD (the one i bought when the PS3 giveaway was on at about this time last year).

Dont have the space for a wheel/pedal setup and I was happy enough to be ~120th in Aus on the GT academy time trial just using a pad

I just ordered one of those (they are done in Spain and they ship to Europe, as far as I know):

The seat is a real car seat (Sparco seat optional), and they have many options.

Funny thing is the guy who does it is a blacksmith that is also a lover of car simulations and was asked to build small parts for home made cockpits, until he decided to build them himself...

42'' philips hdtv and a DFGT 👍
But its hooked onto my coffee table:tdown:
at skip101: I was seriously considering that, does it work well?

^^
It works alright, the height is a bit high since my tv is positioned lower. I had to remove one of the supports that connect the legs because it got in the way of the pedals. It is supposed to be temporary until I figure something else out.

yea I think I'd have the same problem as my telly is low too. But my knees keep getting in the way because of how low the coffee table is and it makes it difficult to lock the wheel even at <360 deg. It's funny, every piece of furniture i see I automatically eye up its potential as a wheel mount!

G27 sitting about 4' away from my 32" 720p tv.

Is anyone else paranoid about the paddle shifters not working? I know this wheel wasn't available when Prologue was released. I guess the anticipation is making me worry about silly things such as this and my PS3 overheating and exploding while playing GT5.

32" 1080i LCD TV with G27 wheel mounted on Obutto oZone cockpit.

Probably gonna invert the pedals, but the oZone hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't decided.
