A: I have AR Max EVO. I don't know if it's PAL, NTSC or if it matters. It won't take the code for all parts purchased, because I assume my ARMAX EVO has an NTSC master code?

B: Have we found an easy way to convert PAL codes to NTSC or do they have to done from scratch?
A:
I don't think it matters which region your cheat device is made for.
I believe the code you've tried is made for PAL game and that's why it doesn't work

B:
Yes it's possible, the layout is exactly the same between different regions of the game and you don't need any dirty tricks to get codes working.
It's as easy as using calculator, if the codes I posted earlier work like I think they should. Try them out if you want to help us :)

Speed Drifter, thank you for the efforts! I asked you to simply plug in some values and drivetrain and call it a day, but you actually went through it and tried--very elaborately, it seems--to actually make it, well, work. Thank you very, very much. I've never entered a hybrid via AR Max, though, so I'm a bit confused as to how I enter the codes. Do I just enter them and it is automatically applied to my Prius (and only my Prius), or do I need to do something fancy like apply a button-activation thing to them?
Yep, you enter the codes and switch them on. After that they're automatically applied to whichever car you're currently in, so you need to get into the Prius beforehand and save your game :)
It's not very convenient but it's the only way to make hybrids with cheat devices. I'll post the proper savegame later so you'll get all three setups with little effort, it must be time-consuming to enter hundreds of codes for each different hybrid you want to make
Either way, though, I won't be able to test the car very soon because the parental units just discovered that I'm pretty far behind on my (10th grade, if you must know) homework, and decided to rob me of my Playstation until it's all recovered, so I'll only have it back in a week or two.
I'm sorry to hear that, let's hope you get your PS2 back soon :)
In the meanwhile you can give me more ideas of hybrids I could realize, my goal is to build a big hybrid garage which has only working cars in it :)

Yeh. I noticed that. Not sure how I would subtract "0x11C80" from a code formatted for AR Max or GS. Let's hope sucahyo can help us out ;)

EDIT: Good news is I just got GT4 runnign on PCSX2. So maybe I'll be able to figure this out.

Yep, you're on the right track :)
If you want to convert encoded codes (AR Max, Gameshark, etc) you need to decode them first with maxconvert (http://www.codemasters-project.net/portal-english/apportal/download.php?view.6)

I'm just uncertain about 0x11C80, The AR max codes (money related, NTSC ver) I got from the official site are using the same addresses as pcsx2, so the conversion factor should be to subtract 0xAE00 from PAL raw codes.
I'll convert the codes with your factor if it seems that the ones I made earlier don't work after all

But today i have something for you guys to test. You know, from the beginning of the GT4 hybriding times,i was always bugged because we could only hybrid one car per save.
I always tried to find methods to overcome that glitch, and today i found this little tool.
http://www.csclub.uwaterloo.ca:11068/mymc/
pretty cool, huh? :) I just discovered this same little program last night when I couldn't get any sleep, just forgot to test it out. It will save me a lot of time because I need frequently transfer saves from the PS2 to the emulator

Actually, I thought chaotica was talking about the PHASTE codes (for hybridding on the pc). It looked like he was refering to RAW codes in the post, maybe if he can chime in we can work together to hybrid NTSC. I remember that old savegame I tested, with the GSX/R hybrid and it worked (I reuploaded a "tuned" version of it a while back. I'm trying to get another ARMAX Disc because mine's is shot (reads when it wants to), however I have a Codebreaker disc that works (I can test saves, I have a tool for converting the .max to codebreaker format). I'd like to try out some PHASTE codes since I can play gt4 on my pc as well, if anyone has any NTSC codes. I'm going to try the ones I put up earlier (dunno if they work since I can't figure out if I did the 0x11C80 math properly between NTSC/PAL for raw codes). Hopefully, I'll have some positive results! As far as that offset goes, from what I gathered on chaotica's post, the math was PAL Address - 0x11C80 = NTSC address? Any thoughts on that?

I believe he's talking about the codes that work on real PS2, since "Phaste" codes (actually the memory locations) are the ones you use with emulator and they're what I'm familiar with

Here are some example Phaste codes for the U.S. ver of the game that work with pcsx2
(the same Prius codes I converted to AR Max format)

10A1F92E 00001000 Multiply power by 4x
00A1F932 00000054 Weight down by ~200kg
20A1FC64 FFFFFF03 Have all tires
10A1F810 00000A6E R34 V-spec II Nur '02 drivetrain with VCD
10A1F828 00001C08 R34 V-spec II Nur '02 LSD Full customize
20A1F90C 02000200 Ride height 512 f/r
10A1F912 00000101 Spring rate 0,1 f/r

They apply for the current car you're in because that's the only car you can edit at a time

Edit:
Playguy, looks like that Mymc tool works, at least PS2 save builder is able to read them ... I mean read the .max files it creates out of pcsx2 memory cards

I can test the PHAST codes on the NTSC version if you feel like giving the code conversion another shot :). But from what Speed Drifter mentioned I'm not sure how we would do that. Can we modify the PHAST codes with the -0x11C80? Or is it a different layout?

Ok, I just got in so I'll try those out. I got my pcsx2 up w/ a garage w/ some cash n cars (figured a .pnatch to make every purchase ADD money not subtract it)

add this to your .pnatch file
//BUYING INCREASES credits
patch=1,EE,2043AFD0,word,0051282F

I'm interested in trying the NTSC PCSX2/Phaste Hybrid method, since my ARMAX disc pooped itself, I can get the save on the emulator, and export it to codebreaker format and put it on my ps2 that way.

EDIT:

I'm trying phaste, now I enter the codes in the Xploder code check? Or Write Address, and if I Write It, do I hit the addcode (S,M,L) checkbox? Adding it to the Xploder code check and updating it doesn't seem to work?

Awesome. I have next to NO knowledge when it comes to locating or changing variables in PHAST. Let me know if you need anything.

I'm so confused now, they should work right away when you click on update code. Maybe the PHaste isn't that straightforward to use after all :)

try removing the leading zeroes from the code values, I don't remember anymore how the Phaste handles the values .. or maybe it's easier if I do it for you:

10A1F92E 1000
00A1F932 54
20A1FC64 FFFFFF03
10A1F810 06FC
10A1F810 0A6E
10A1F828 10CC
10A1F828 1C08
20A1F90C 02000200
10A1F912 0101

if you're just starting to learn:
select only one code at first, click on "moveaddress" and input the code address there to find the right location faster.
(for example 10A1F810 06FC has address A1F810)

then input the code you selected into the xploder box and click on "update cheat code"
the memory address of your code should now read the value you just input, in reversed byte form = 06FC should read FC06

I'll post tomorrow an empty NTSC save and the save I've been working on, if anyone has use for them

Trust me, I know what I'm doing :)
I found a workaround how to get multiple hybrids that work on the ps2, which sadly means they're not working on the emulator :D

Every time you want to switch cars you have to do it on your ps2, then save the game and transfer the save to the pcsx2. It's slow and sometimes even irritating but it's the only way until pcsx2 team fixes the bug on their emulator

Ok. I've just acquired the PAL version. I plan on making a contribution. Probably not tooooooo innovative(hex = ugggg, lol). But a quality helping :)

EDIT: WELL. IT turn out my "PAL" version isn't PAL... Everything time I apply a PHAST code it doesn't work. The on;y thing my version is good for is loading game saves. This is ridiculous.

I'm snapping in PHAST, Updating Cheat-code. It changes the address value. But nothing happends. Terrible!

Yeh. None will work for me either. Thoes look like Xploder codes.

I've got a question. I'm trying to find out where the turbo code is located for the Civic R, EK9. the 97' model. How do I "snap" or find the difference in code after I purchase a turbo?

NTSC version, Prius '03 touring:

Ok. I'll try some of that. Apparently I do have the correct PAL and NTSC version.

Is that a direct dump from PHAST? If so. How did you do it? I've tried copying and pasting but it never seems to get the whole thing :(

I figured I'd try dumping a stock car. Then adding a turbo. Then dumping again and comparing.

EDIT:

NTSC
Befor Turbo:
Code:
00A1F880 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15

After Turbo:
Code:
00A1F880 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15

No difference :(

I snapped PHAST, copied the "00A1F880" adress to notepad, then bought and installed a turbo. Then snapped PHAST again. And there was no difference in code. Am I doing this rite?

I snapped PHAST, copied the "00A1F880" adress to notepad, then bought and installed a turbo. Then snapped PHAST again. And there was no difference in code. Am I doing this rite?
I just copypasted those lines straight from the PHaste, not perfect but enough for me :)

I don't recognize those data patterns, are you sure you're using the TLB (non VM) version of the pcsx2?
Phaste doesn't work with the virtual memory version of the program, that's the one which doesn't say "TLB non VM" and has the filename pcsx2.exe

Here's mine, NTSC, Prius Touring as the top car
Code:
00A2A680 1D 09 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00A1F880 BF 05 75 15 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15 FF 29 75 15
car still shows 80hp... I applied the codes, both ways, updated and then snapped pcsx2 again to see make sure it applied. It shows like it did, but nogo. My game ud, NTSC SCUS-97328, dunno if thats any usefull. I'ma try playing with phaste, to see if it can catch what changed when I equip/unequip parts, maybe we have a different version of the game? (got mines when it first came out, wayyyy back).

Totaly different :(

I'm using pcsx2t.exe. That the wrong EXE? V 0.9.1.

EDIT: Says non-vm at the top.

edit, just looked at yours, matches mine's perfectly. I'm running pcsxt.exe, not the vm one, I tried running it in XP 32, no luck, I was running it under Vista Ultimate, no go (even w/ compatability on), must be something trivial?

Would a "patched" version of GT4_NTSC make a difference? I have the original that's been patched for a DVD5 that I'm running. I'm re-ripping hte game to my HDD as the full dual-layer.

I dunno, mines is definitely unpatched original gt4 and I got the same output as you. I'm thinking its something we're misisng, because, id's match n everything just our output = fubar. I just tried 2 different os' Vista, Vista w/ XP Compatability, XP Pro, nothing (ran slower in true XP, kinda funny). maybe I should try 0.9.1 not 0.9.2 of pcsx2, gonna find and d/l it now (maybe thats the issue lol).

Yours matches Speed's, or mine?

EDIT: Just updated to 0.9.2, and am using a full dvd9 rip. Still the same code :(

I wouldn't have a problem if I could dump/export the whole PHAST code snap. Then I would just compare the 2 and find the code myself. Unless this code looks totally messed?

I'm using 0.9.2 non VM version, but I don't think the emulator version matters that much.
It looks like my copy of the NTSC version is a DVD5 patched one :(
Oh well, so much for my AR max codes then :)

mine's matches yours, I was running 0.9.2, both in vista and xp, now I'm trying 0.9.1 lol seems like we're having the same issue. Now I'm back in vista and testing 0.9.1, maybe I got a bad version of phaste? I'm going to re/dl it again. I'll try the original (non-english ver) since the button layout should be the same [snap][move][write], etc... the hex output should be the same aswell

EDIT: I wonder how suchayo did the gsx/r hybrid I played with before???

I'm using 0.9.2 non VM version, but I don't think the emulator version matters that much.
It looks like my copy of the NTSC version is a DVD5 patched one :(
Oh well, so much for my AR max codes then :)

You are awesome! May I ask how you found this out? And how would I get to the correct code?

BTW, no difference between DVD5 and DVD9 for me.

I copied the line that looked the most unique from your memory dump, input it to the Phaste's param search field and let it do the work, I was a bit lucky though :D

No difference between DVD5 and DVD9? this is getting even more complicated :ill:

I can't think anything clever and innovative right now but try these codes first, I converted them with the number chaotica gave us

10A18AAE 00001000 Multiply power by 4x
00A18AB2 00000054 Weight down by ~200kg
20A18DE4 FFFFFF03 Have all tires

Hrmmm... I've got it....

My Prius starting adress: 00A18850
Yours Prius starting adress: 00A1F7D0

:)

Quick question. Can I use a calculator to figure what
"59 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF" = ?

So I can easily change the data using Write Adress?

Ok. Now we have a problem... All those addresses and data line up... But they don't modify if I change a part or buy one....

Those codes don't work either.

You already found your starting address? nice job :)

I don't get what are you trying to do but you don't need to convert the values, they should be the same between different versions.
You've got the starting location now so it should be pretty easy.
sucahyo's site has the values for all different parts, just write them into the right locations.

Are you able to open microsoft excel files? I've been making a spreadsheet table of the locations I know, makes it easier to understand how this whole thing works

Speed Drifter, do you think, just for haha's maybe we can use the offset between your version and our version? The codes work on yours, so if we do the math on the offsets, then it should work no? I'll try the math between the offsets and maybe come up with something (I sux @ hex lol)

I can get one. I have office around here somewhere. That would be cool.

When ever I snap PHAST after applying/buying a part, the variables don't change :(

Am I in the wrong setup?

EDIT: Haha. NVM. Got it :)

Wasn't doing enough "loading"? I went into the setting and changed the parts. Then it showed up as modified in PHAST.

If you need any help Death Scythe. I might be able to get ya started if you haven't gottin it already.

As far as versions go. I pre-oredered mine. So it's the first gen I assume. ISO is a total of 4.94 GB (5,314,478,080 bytes)
