Not much of a Sim, more a difficult arcade game imo.
- I think no one expected sim here, so everyone is just ok with that the NFS is very good arcade game with some small "sim" details.

Drift mode is totally no fun for me. Sliding at 25km/h pffff... Strange points system...you get more points for crushing near "clipping point" than for long nice drift etc etc :D

Anyone tried Porsche Invitation race at SPA - there is something strange with this race, cars jump like a ping-pong ball on first turn, other cars dont behavior there like that, so it is not track problem, rather too low profile of car or some default settings which cause problem with physics system.

Sorry for bad english.

Anyone with a G25 know a good setup for the wheel? I'm still playing around with mine and thought I might ask others who have the wheel for a second opinion. :)

Just saw this video and i have to say i'm sold. I wasn't sure wether to buy the game, but when a driving game gives you the sensations this game appears to, then who gives a toss about 100% realistic physics. I buy driving games for fun and because i like cars. I want to get that same fix you get from driving a real car very fast, and SHIFT albeit hyper realistic, tends to hit the sensations of speed and forces extremely well. The sounds are amazing, the graphics look lush, better than GT5 imo, in terms of colour, artistic flare and object details and the models thems selves look more than good enough to pay homage to the real counterparts.

This game makes GT5P look boring and dead. Off course i will get GT5 for the realistic car models and close to realistic physics, huge car library and loads of tracks, but in terms of outright enjoyment it looks like SHIFT can't be beat. They made a very smart move not trying to compete with GT5 in the realism genre, i think it has done the game many favours, managing to keep the fun and immersion of an arcade racer, with physics that pose a challenge and would please the casual sim racer.

Of course i have yet to buy it, but the sounds and visuals and just general atmosphere of this game blows me away. The physics although not realistic , does seem to convey at least in the videos, a hyper realistic sense of grip and weight transfer, i may be wrong, if it feels like GRID i will be a bit dissapointed, but them graphics and sounds, ooohhhh those sounds:drool:

Only thing to decide now is, PC or PS3 hmmmmm:confused:

I advise people in the UK who are unsure to go to your local Blockbusters today at 10am or whatever opening time your closest has and rent it. They have 3 in for each platform in my local one and its neither big nor small branchwise so i can't see copies lasting to long

Having the same problem here.

Which may explain partly why it's so twitchy.

Mine's not twitchy anymore.. ;) spent an hour or so tuning it for the ring and my god it drives so good now... going 300+ KPH down the back straight of the Ring is just crazy... at speed you feel the car get a bit light and sort drift a bit side to side, hit the nitrous and :dopey::dopey: ... at 300 kph that is scary as hell.. Now Im just saving up for a works package... then move on to the E36 :P

hit the nitrous
I know this is NFS, but I refuse to put nitro in my cars.

And still, some of the cars are not balanced properly (especially when fully upgraded). Sure you can tune them till they are more balanced, but it's still wrong.

How far are you in the career now? I've unlocked tier 4, but I'm still grinding the tier 2 events. I've started off with a garage full of nice 4WD cars (S3, RS4, R8) and got a few RWD cars (350Z, Shelby GT500) for specific events.

But despite the few odditties, I just can't seem to put this game down. I love it! 👍

 Nitro is fun.... but I have to say I have not tried many other cars... except in a couple of the head-to-head races... Once I try more cars I think I'll be able to say more about it.

At the moment Im at level 13 and I've opened up tier 3... but I'm still grinding tier 2 and I spent quite a bit of time quick racing the Ring last night and tuning... couldnt resist :P They need to make it possible to tune in race though.. or the ability to free run from the tuning menu... because that whole cycle of exiting, tuning, entering again is very monotonous... At the moment I have an S2000 Stage III no Works conversion... and a fresh M3 E36 waiting to be tuned. :D

I also have the same with this game. I cant put it down. Despite some of the flaws here and there, I really enjoy it... Now I just have to see how online is... still havent tried it yet... If we can get some good events going this might get even more interesting... :)

For starters, I think a tier 1 or 2 event using one of the 4WD cars on an easy track would be nice (nice and accessible to get things going a bit and get people used to it). I was thinking something along the lines of Audi RS4/Alpental. :)

I'm down. After hearing the addicting fun, I'm looking forward to getting this tomorrow. haha. Can't wait.

Sounds interesting :) Let me purchase an AWD drive car and grind a bit :P If youre down for a couple of laps tonight or whenever, let me know 👍

Just my goddamn luck....

Went down at 9:50 opens at 10, only for them to put a sign up saying technical erorrs mean it wont open till later, so theirs a good chance i'll probably miss out now, utterley frustrating :/

guys , why dont this game has a sub forum almost all of us like it !!?

so that we can arrange online games and and give advices to each other ..

what do do you think !?

I has it!!!1!11

And from first impressions, I'm impressed. Physics take some getting used to (I was on 'experienced' instead of 'pro' for a while and somehow experienced is much harder when it shouldn't be), I'm impressed with the Nurburgring, with the AI and how the cars react to collisions.

My first car I got was the GTR (yes, I went past the S2ks and the like) and the noise it makes is M.A.N.I.C.

I'm also very impressed with the amount the cockpit (or should I say you) wobble around. I hate to be a sucker for this kind of thing, but it feels much more that you are there.

Heres a shot of my dark navy blue GTR. Like? Idea for a thread maybe?

Now been playing this game since yesterday and got about 8 hours into it.
First car was a Nissan s14 just like the thing I have to drive on the weekends. Tuned it up with suspension and engine tuning as to what my car us and it's no where near to the real thing. To much tail happy in the game and I do drive my own car to the limit aswell and it's not as tail happy.
Still it's abit hard not to come back and play it as the visual effects with the sound are probably the best in a game I've played for a long time.
You really need to get a car to the 1 you have in real life to get any idea of the physics IMO.

Did you slap some 20"s on that thing?? Nice car none the less, there was a race in Tier 1 with that car at Ebisu if im not mistaken and it was a nice car to drive.

19"s....they suited it with the navy blue.

I drove an MX5 for a time trial - its faster, but this is so much more involving :D.

Got to say really enjoyed it with the controller first run, however i haven't got a dual shock controller which is annoying..

tried it with the wheel, wasn't having any of it absolutley horrible, deadzone was way off and just felt detached

Pretty sure there are plenty of settings in getting feedback/deadzones sorted. I use the same wheel as you, DFGT, so if someone can confirm that, it'd be great.

A steering sensitivity of 100% and FFB at eight appears to help a lot.
