Nice lap, cheers for that. Let us know how the car improves as you tune it up 👍

Had to double take myself when I saw the tent LOL :odd:

:dunce: after few laps you do not notice those things anymore ;)

I don't have to much time for testing, so you will have to rely on others for a quick write up ;)

I've played it for like an hour and it's pure fun, the only negative thing I have to say is that it doesn't supports 1080 HD so it looks bad on my TV.

Do you have a 150 inch projector or something, because it looks fine on my 50 inch 1080p plasma.

I'm really surprised so far by shift, I've only played ot for a half hour or so, but so far it seems much, much better then I expected. Hopefully we can get some shift series races going on in here.

The one thing I can't figure out is the clutch. I turned off the auto clutch, but I still don't have to push in my g25 clutch to shift. It doesn't seem like there's any penalty or anything when I just slam gears without it, but maybe I just haven't played it enough yet.

Yea that's the only thing I am disappointed about. I want it to work just like it does in Prologue because it's a lot of fun. Has anyone else been able to get the clutch fully working?

I got the game for both the PS3 and PC today. After about 4 hours I have to say I'm very impressed. The game is, well, fun. Driving the Lotus at Nurburging it felt real. As others have said it's early to make a final judgement but every up til now says this is a keeper.

I'm not a fan of the DB9 or the GT40 but.....

And that Audi R8 at Silverston is pure sex.

I have mine driving skill at "Experienced",:sly: I tried Pro and couldn't keep the car on track, with my logitech DFP. Good game so far, racing feels very tense, online is fun, tos, got hit in the back alot though. :scared:

i've read through a few pages and so far haven't seen anyone mention if the G25 is 900* compatible or is it 180-200*. I'm not interested if it's not 900*, takes away the "simulation" if you ask me. I want to pick this up tomorrow, but not till someone confirms the G25 on ps3 is 900* :)👍

Well I haven't messed with any settings with the G25, and it appears to be 360 degrees. I'm not sure if you can change it though.

You can set it up to 900 degrees in 10 degree increments. I tried 900 but moved mine down to 720. You really have to turn the wheel on this game at 900 and 720 seemed to feel alot more like a real car. It's got all the settings you will probably want.

It also supports the clutch and H pattern shifter.
So far I'm loving it. It is a little arcady, and not the greatest sim ever, but it really isn't that far away from GT5P. The cockpit view is the best I have ever seen for making you feel like part of the car. Every little bump registers by slightly moving you around, and you really feel the power of your car when you take off and brake hard. When you get up to 160mph it's all you can do to stay on the road, the way the camera view shakes it really makes you sense the speed you are going. This game is by no means a driving sim, it's more of a racing sim, if you can call it a sim.

I really can't believe EA has had anything at all to do with this game.

I played it a little more, and it does seem to give you a small penalty for not pushing in the clutch. I hope they patch it to maybe double the impact of just not pushing it in. Maybe a 2 second delay between the shift or something.

thanks for confirming that. I will try to pick it up tomorrow on my way home from work. I hope the drifting is at least fun requiring actual continuous counter steer and throttle inputs needed. But even for the racing itself looks like a great game to have fun. I have Live for speed when i'm in the mood for pure Sim. :)👍

Just got my copy on PS3 and tried it out with my G25 with pro physics and no aids except for ABS.

At first, the cars felt pretty slippery and throttle response was snappy, like an on-off switch during clutch takeup. Even switching fears felt laggy, like some of those paddle shift auto boxes.

THEN I went to adjust sensitivity. I set all sensitivities, clutch settings and FF to the max, with all dead zones set to zero. Oh, and the automatic clutch option is in the menu where you set physics, AI difficulty, etc. The menus are kinda confusing, in a way. But what a difference!

The clutch and throttle response still aren't as immediate as GT5P, but that could be because I've only got a stock Nissan S14. Perhaps drivetrain upgrades would help with the feeling of the clutch being a little soft on takeup. There's still a bit of a delay, though...maybe kinda like a proper throttle cable (like in GT5P) vs drive-by-wire. Kinda hard to put my finger on it, but during heel & toe downshifts, I didn't feel as connected as I did in GT5P. But once I relaxed my shift speed, it all seemed to feel more natural. Again, this could be due to the stock clutch. GT5P just feels more linear and progressive in this department.

Handling still feels a bit slippery, could be due to stock tires and suspension.

I've only put an hour into it cos it was late, but I'm sure there's a lot more to discover.

Physics are definitely more arcadey than GT5P. But I'm impressed so far. Anyone who's comfortable with sims can jump right in.

One thing I am pretty disappointed with is the graphics. They're nice....just not GT-nice. The PC screenshots I saw online are better than the PS3. Somehow, I feel that multi-platform games don't do the PS3 justice. GT5 visuals beat Shift hands down. There's also way to much going on in Shift's HUD. All those points and stars are pretty distracting. Loading times are also on the long side...

All in all, after an hour, I'd say it's still a pretty good buy for anyone who appreciates sims. The fact that GT5P won't have Porsches pretty much guarantees I'll be playing Shift for awhile.

That point is that you can accelerate full throttle out any corner without the back coming out. Some areas in the physics seem incorrect if you ask me. there are good parts though.

After having driven some of the RWD cars the most powerful being the 306hp 350z, I'm seeing an issue with the power-oversteer also. The back end WILL step out but at some point the car will stop rotating and you'll recover with a little counter steer whether your wide open or not. It almost seems like an invisible stability aid is stepping in to prevent you from increasing a throttle induced slip angle. This is with all aids off/pro

Ah well, I guess for NFS it's still pretty impressive.:)

I don't want to say something now--in the middle of my enthusiasm--that I will regret later, so I I'll just say this: I really like this game. A lot.
It's been growing on me since I put it in the PS3. I like the physics.
They simulate weight-transfer, braking and "road feel" better than GT5P.
It's a little harder to lose control under acceleration than GT5P, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (with GT5P being a 10) this game is probably an 8.5 in my book, but even the graphics are growing on me :)

And sound, well NFS Shift has GT5P beat so badly in the sound department, it's not even funny. Seriously. I'll guarantee you that, perhaps even as I write this, Kaz and the boys at PD are having a look-see at this game, and I can bet there are some awkward silences in the room when the Maserati MC-12 race car makes it's presence known  Kaz, I hope you are taking notes on what they have done with the sounds in this game, or better yet, I hope you don't have to because you have already improved GT5 sounds so they will at least equal NFS Shift's sounds.

I could go into more detail, but it's late. I'm sure others will come along and describe the other great features in this game. I can just tell you, GT5P went back in its box tonight, and it's not coming out again for a good long while--at least for me :D

So far I've just jumped into a few high-po RWD cars from my pretty slow (about 400hp or so) S3, which is AWD. Going from this to a 600hp Viper is not possible. You really do need to control the power, and throttle maintenance is a must.

I like the sound of the game....but as for the physics Im still stuck on GT5p......anyone got any good steering wheel settings....with nixim brake mod.

I'm up for online, infact I was on with andrewyhy and PositionZero on the Ring for a few laps with the STI a few minutes ago and will be on soon again.

I see you live down under though... :) So by the time I get home I think you'll be sleeping... weekend maybe? :D

This game is the best news ever, I'd heard and seen snippets from game shows but never really had it on the radar. Last night I watched the gametrailers video review and was instantly sold, now I come on here, read glowing reviews and that the street date is broken! Can't wait for tomorrow so I can pick it up.

It has actually put my plans for a psp and gt psp on the shelf as I'm thinking this game plus Forza 3 will be more than enough to get me through to GT5.

Good tracks and the cream of the cream vehicle roster (although I must say of the big manufacturers the only one I haven't spotted is Ferrari, are they in it?) Audi R8, Veyron, Lambo's, Porsche's, I'm pumped that within a day or two I will be driving them!

Being EA you can almost guarantee DLC so given the superior car selction, looks like DLC to look forward to, and more super cars and more tracks! Being EA you'd almost expect it to be part of this weeks PSN update lol

Has anyone got a full car list?

When does this officially come out in Australia? Sounds like it's a good game. I wasn't convinced until I seen Carl's post, I trust Carl.:)
