I don't know if anyone else has posted this but I think this would be awesome to do.

It looks kinda hard since I'm not artistic at all but I'm sure other people could easily do this.

I think someone posted a picture a few days ago showing a page or two from the book that comes with the special edition and there was one of those in it, though I'm not sure if it was the exact same one.

Edit this is the pic:

What I am curious about is since Kaz said there is no livery editor whats the deal with the stealth cars having blank number plates? If there is no editor are they always going to be blank? I doubt it because all the cars on the track would be the same.

Nope, though close. The one in GT4 (and now in GT5) was the B6 model A4. That one is the B8.

Yeah, it seems odd. Surely there's an option to add a number on there...

Perhaps they will have a number applied at race time? Or maybe you will be able to pick a number that that's as much customization as can be done in that respect?

This is a very real possiblity since you could do this in Tourist Trophy.

I don't like the feature though because you are going to end up with a bunch of immature kids with 69 & 80085 on their car.

/sarcasm

didn't kaz say: "there are more options of customisation than you can ever imagine", or like: "we go deeper into customisation than anybody ever did before" i 95% believe i read something like that.. so just I just keep hoping for it.. kaz has to beat forza up in every aspect and he tries.. so dont be so negative.. PS: sorry for my englisch and sorry for my avatar.. i like^^

He couldn't have said that since he said he hasn't looked at the competition, forza. Kaz has said a lot of things and while thy all sounds great, it's not wise to get too excited about them til we see proof.

Kaz always says lots of things, many of which dont turn out to be true so wait till the shipped game appears. He said he we would see completely accurate realistic damage never seen on a console before and what we got was damage poorer than Grid and only working on 20% of the cars! Along with everything else which only works on specific things.

But it's the things that he says might be in that make the cut, not the other way around. We'll see what he says at TGS.

I think it`s a good thing that there won`t be a livery-editor in GT5. I`ve played Forza, and all you end up doing is spend TOO many hours making crappy livery-designs, instead of driving which is the whole point of the game. maybe beacuse Forza is rubbish to drive, but still.

I personally don't want anything way too over the top either but i disagree, my argument about having a livery editor is that you spend thousands of credits modifying a car making it go as fast as the laws of physics determine then when you look at it in a replay it still looks like a normal car, when it clearly isn’t. It adds a whole new level of personalisation to your car that you can show off, also online even if there were sama car races they would still all look different

I would settle for having the racing modification option back again if there isn’t a livery editor. But i do not want body modifications on the level of Need For Speed, most of them made the car look worse

Just think about all the online leagues, having a full field of custom-liveried (is that a word ?) cars would be bloody awesome.

Its just a part of real racing, almost every race series has them. And some sponsors have become Icons in Motorsport over the years, some of them being there for decades. Just think of all those awesome Gulf, Martini, Rothmans, JPS etc liveries. Racing just isn't the same without the great liveries.

PD is aware how many people want this feature, Kaz even said "It 'might be in' in one of the articles in the "news" section. Maybe they'll add it as DLC later, if they can't make the deadline.

Not sure how much the policing of images & copyright issues played into PD decision at this time not to include it.

Turn 10 approach, I guess was trying to avoid potential copyright issues, created a closed system, so that every image & decals (with exception of a few) had to be created entirely from scratch,
very cumber-son for some livery's that should be simple. It's possible at this point & time that PD didn't want to have the added responsibility's of monitoring the livery's.

I think the Livery Editor was on there to do list, but would of added a lot of head aches at this time if not implemented correctly.

By the time of GT6 release, I think it will be included. :)

While the damage seen in GRID appears more spectacular than what we've seen of GT5's deformation system thus far, pre-baked damage is completely incomparable vis-à-vis real-time deformation, not to mention the fact that the latter is clearly a work-in-progress. As for the accusation of it only working on 20% of the cars, the notion that the bonus cars ported from Gran Turismo 4 are an integral part of the game is a completely subjective viewpoint.

Kaz hasn't played Forza?

When asked if he'd played Turn 10's racer, Kazunori said it was similar in many ways to the GT series. "I was watching the guys at our company trying it out in the office. I tried it a little bit. It's very similar in a lot of aspects to Gran Turismo," noted Yamauchi. "Some base components of the game are very different from Gran Turismo. It's a little bit different from what a simulator is. You can feel it when you drive it," he went on to tell Autoweek.

And if I could find it, I would show you the interview where he said he doesn't have time to look at the competition.

Perhaps he's implying that he doesn't see Forza as competition. After all, he did dismiss the game as "different from what a simulator is," and I'd have to say that I agree with him, no offence to any Forza fans here.

2 - i wouldn't know about that, not having an xbox. i'm toying with the idea of getting myself one for xmas though, and Forza III
will be at the top of the list 'to get' because i really want to drive Road Atlanta on a current gen console

No, I don't think he sounded that arrogant. Wait, nevermind.

Kaz hasn't played Forza?

You bet he's played Forza ( or other driving games ), not for leisure ofcourse but to compare and analyze it.
Admitting it is a different thing however, most big car manufacturers buy cars from their competitors to test them and put them apart analyzing each aspect and detail which they will ofcourse never admit publicly.:)

He has played Forza. I suspect only briefly though.

Personally I own a 360 and Forza 3, I admit that, and I admit that I`ve spent quite a few hours with it, but 10% of these hours have been spent driving, and the rest I`ve been making liveries on the cars. But my point is that everytime I`m done with a car, I realise how terrible the liveries I`ve made are, and I just feel like I`ve wasted many hours for nothing. I think Polyphony is genious when they don`t put a livery editor in the GT-series, it`s a driving simulator, not a livery-designing program.

I'm sorry that you aren't talented, neither am I. There are plenty of liveries I've seen that were amazing.
So you're telling me that it's not realistic to put liveries on a car that you/your team race in?

I`m just saying that the cars that are supposed to have liveries, allready have them in GT5, like allt the Nascars, all the GT-series cars, the WRC cars, all the proper race cars has realsitic liveries in GT5. I just think it gets kind of stupid when people put Red Bull liveries, Monster-liveries and so on on all kind of rubbish cars and think they`ve made a race car, it`s still gonna be a yaris or an old american car like many do in Forza 3, its just not realistic.

So the people who want to have racing teams online and have a shared team graphic or paint job should just suck it up? You've never seen a car club with shared decals?
I see your view and respect why it's not for you.

People do exactly that in real life too so it's realistic, the point of a livery editor is to create a racing car based on a normal car or just create a livery for whatever reason, not necessarily racing-related.
It's not a question of realistic or even taste and preferences but the choice and ability given by a livery editor.
The fact you seem to admit "wasting" time on it suggest it might indeed be fun to do, especially for someone like me who likes to be creative.

Sure, I`ve seen car clubs, but they don`t drive like a Toyota Yaris or something like that. But anyway, most of them who play GT5 drive it with cockpit or bumper-view, so you rarely see the outside of the cars anyway
