If you could take over Kaz's job, what would you do with GT7?

I would focus on the racing against AI. Have longer races with pitstops, and competitive AI. I dont care if it was only 30 cars. When I play F1 2012 which is an old game I get a lot more racing feeling than I have ever got from GT series. No more starting last in a 2 lap race expecting to win against same cars. Also stop&go penalties and flag rules. Maybe even a pace car. When all that is settled I'd go for crash physics and modelling.

You'd have no money if you hire more people. Remember GT6 had poor sales.
(Except if you are crazy rich)
Well like I said, I'd need a bigger budget than Kaz.

This is all hypothetical. We're not trying to make the most profitable GT game, we're trying to make the best GT game possible in our opinions

In theory it's a good idea, in practice not so much. With GT's online instability for a lot of people I daresay you are going to be able to have a race with dozens of competitors swapping in and out without some lag and/or disconnects. If they could implement some kind of back up driver system, where if another member of your team was watching the race and if you dc'd the car would auto-drive and a message would be sent to the standby member to hop into the car and drive that might work. But it seems like an awful lot of work for something I'm guessing won't be wildly popular.

I would change the name to:Gran Turismo The Professional Driving Simulator
And I would do the physics at least as good as the best PC simulators like rFactor2,Game Stock Car 2013 and Assetto Corsa.
If there is people which can't drive there is:
Active Steering
Active Stability Management (ASM)
Traction Control
ABS
I advise you to use them.
No hidden AIDS!
I'll get rid of the SRF(Skid Recovery Force)

So gamepad users are out of luck... Good luck with the sale numbers.

Assetto Corsa provides three profiles of difficulty (gamer, racer , pro) plus a fourth fully customizable setting. An advanced driver assistance system allows you to drive the car even with the keyboard or joypad . However, turning off all the driving aids in Assetto Corsa offers one of the most realistic driving experiences on the PC.

There could be a different steering and handling algorithm for pad users. Edit: le tree.

If I was Kaz, I'll be too busy racing in 24hr Nur and all that stuff, I wouldn't have time for GT7:yuck:....jk people...lol:gtpflag:

For better and worse it would not be a GT without Kaz. There are elements in the series that we would never have experienced without Kaz at the helm which I enjoyed - Lunar Missions and VisionGT being perfect examples.

On the flip-side, a change of leadership would surely help in progressing several areas of the game which seem constrained by Kaz's stubbornness to admit it's shortcomings - AI and absence of a huge number of contemporary cars.

My first area to tackle would be to bring a genuine feel of racing through a complete rebuild of the AI and the adoption of a penalty and flag system. The game will have sufficient content with the GT7 additions to make it a revolutionary experience for the series. Sound would be a secondary concern for me.

ALL vintage (;)) assets would be dropped. Following 57 low quality cars would be re-made from the ground up - if there's a demand from a large group concerning specific model not listed below it would be consider.

4 original tracks - El Captain, Seattle Circuit, George V Paris and Costa d'Amalfi.

5 real tracks - Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Road America, Road Atlanta, Mugello, Interlagos.

There would also be night city tracks, mountain roads and branching point to point tracks.

As many modern and old RUF's as I could.

AI would drive faster, more precisely but also much more attentive. Some of them would be quite aggressive and vindictive - if you push them of the road, you'll have to watch out because they might return the favor braking aggressively into the corner trying to overtake you.

Some others - as in real life, might brake too late and finish of the track. In certain cases you may see a driver retiring from the race if he pits the cars in sand, exiting the car and gesticulating from disappointment while being accompanied by stewards.

In A-spec there will be a huge difference in how players can interact with it thus increasing the fun and re-playability ten fold.

Everything's customizable - AI difficulty, standing/rolling start, qualification. In higher tier of races you can increase the length of the race to 24 hours! You don't need to finish the race in one seating obviously.

Making the race more difficult will result in higher payouts - 500pp car in sunny day ? You win 5,000 credits. 450pp car and rain ? You get a bonus for that. We're making sure that even the entry races are fun and challenging - the cars might be slow but the opponents are not.

Beating yourself in arcade Time Trial will also be rewarded with credits.

You also don't need to start from Sunday Cup - you can go directly to hard races.

Licenses and Missions are not mandatory to access tougher races or online but expensive cars are rewarded by completing them.

Apart from races there's a "Test Driver" career, in which you must prove yourself worthy performing various maneuvers like 180° , series of handbrake turns in a limited amount of time etc.

There's also an event creator for those who want to create their own races.

Shuffle racing is back but improved for closer races - each track will have a pool of cars that will be assigned to players. No more muscle cars hitting the rev limiter for 3/4 of Nordshleife back straight. There will be also seasonal online races with hand picked allowed cars to create balances field.

Each track will have the ability to record a lap time for each and every car in the game - the leaderboard is as big as you make it. If you test the same model with different PP or tuning it will be listed in that model sub-menu - click on it and you'll get all the information about the car including the exact setup used for setting that particular lap time.

You also no longer need to exit to main menu to change the car.

release it for PC and just do all the things i really wanted to be in a racinggame but never could do because of hardwarelimitations and steeringwheel limitations.

#1 - Provide numerous options to allow the user to make the game as realistic or as arcade as they want. For example, a damage setting option of 0% (no damage) to 100% (60mph crash likely ends your race). There should be a couple dozen of these options to allow the user to customize his experience. Of course there will be quick settings such as easy (all settings set to 10%) or simulation (all settings set to 100%) if you dont want to alter everything.

#2 - Include absolutely no less then 200 events. GT Life should take months, not weeks, to complete. With hundreds of cars and dozens of tracks and thousands of possible combinations its the least amount of events the game should include.

#3 - Bring back GT4 style progression but fine tune it. Open up more events every time the player 5% deeper into the game. At 30 or 40% the entire game should be open. You should never be at 85% complete and still have a few events locked. And the player should never have fewer then 9-10 different races to choose from before more are unlocked.

#4 - Trash all standard content. Burn it with fire.

#5 - All cars and tracks have the same level of quality or they dont get in. If a track doesnt have day/night or weather it doesnt get in. If a car doesnt have a proper damage model it doesnt get in.

#6 - The latest, hottest cars all get priority before adding classics. Why isnt the Dodge Dart in the game? Or the Ford Fusion? Or any Honda Accord made within the past 10 years? These should all be added before some nice car from the 80s. Build the core of the car list around modern, relevant cars, then expand into automotive history.

#7 - Go absolutely nuts with car customization. A livery editor is just the basics...allow every panel on the car to be carbon fiber, add DLC of hundreds of high quality logos, DLC of numerous aero kits, racing seats, steering wheels and more.

Assign someone within the company to interface directly with the community. This person would engage in round table discussions, respond directly to specific questions from GT players at large, and act as a liaison between the game developers and the player base. It might be full time job but the series really needs this at this point or it may be left in the dust by titles such as Project Cars that embrace this approach.

Personally, I'd need a much bigger budget, but I'd do a lot.

First thing I'd do is hire more employees, and possibly employ some smaller studios so the modelling of cars can be done much faster. Like what Turn 10 did for Forza 4.

GT7 would include motorcycles, and some open world racing. It would be made for the Ps4 and fully optimized which would mean native 1080p with 4x MSAA (and NO POST PROCESS AA!!!), 60 FPS LOCKED!!!!, and 1080p 30 FPS locked in 3D mode.

The AI would be much faster, and there would be 10 levels of AI difficulty/speed. Engine sounds would be much better. At least on par with Forza.

Most of all, I'd like to make the physics rival even Assetto Corsa, netkar, and LFS. The rally physics would rival Richard Burns Rally.

I'd like the camera views to be similar to Driveclubs (same as GT6's except an addition cockpit view which is very close to the windshield)

The sense of speed would be improved with more camera/driver movement but tastefully done (in other words, not like NFS Shift)

It will also support all force feedback wheels, especially logitech wheels because they're the most popular.

The mechanical damage would be much like what you find in iracing and the mechanical damage would be on at all times through the career mode. You could turn the damage off for practice mode, or arcade races.

The online would be different. Instead of server lists, there would be matchmaking with 2 disciplines- simulation, and casual.

Simulation would have all settings to as real as possible, but most importantly, tires would be restricted as well to be as realistic as possible (no more putting racing soft tires on 400pp cars like a noob would) Driver aids would be off, mechanical damage would be on, and the camera views would be limited to cockpit, and inside windshield cameras (by inside windshield, I mean something like what Driveclub has)

Casual is pretty self explanatory, but there would also be custom servers too (basically what GT6 is now)

The car list would have a lot more variety, but only about 400 - 500 cars. There would be plenty of open wheeled cars, super cars, hyper carstrack day cars, race cars of all disciplines, sports cars, and of course some family road cars.

No standard cars (although personally, I'm not gonna whine about it if they're in the real GT7)

The track list would be like GT6's, except a few more real life tracks, most notably Macau City circuit, and Virginia International (with all layouts!!!)

The course maker would be awesome as well. It would be much like the track maker in mod nation racers minus all the cartoony crap.

I'd also like to include some type of stunt events. Maybe like trials fusion except not a side scoller. That seems like it would be really cool.

That's my idea of the perfect GT. More realistic, but also more fun at the same time.
i would make sound better and more mods for cars like Sforza carbon fiber trunk hood fenders doors and be able to put diffuser as you can see I'm a drag racing Honda head and put legit motor swaps and real sounds of the engines non stop the hacks

If I was Kaz, then I would do the following things:

1. I would go over the cars again, would take pictures of interiors, record the sounds and make them premium! Premium cars are the first priority. But I would do the same for all cars. For example: If I would go to Italy, then I would go over to all Italian cars. Then I would recruit more car modellers to give their help to model and add all cars in GT7.

2. Plate editor: Because a lot of people are annoyed of duplicates of MX-5's, GTO's, 240SX... Therefore, I would put an option of plates, including plates from manufacturer's models and states too!

3. Livery Editor: One of important features to be in GT7.

4. Ability to duplicate a car without having to go to another account to send and without having to buy.

5. I would also add a Free Roam like Forza Horizon.

6. I would go over the tracks and scan it to add to GT6. I would also bring the circuits back from previous games.

7. I would add all features in GT7.

8. Almost forgot: I would also add motorcycles and any kind of transport to GT7...

I would start by removing all standard and select and few of them (really popular classic ones) and make them premium, then I'll remove all the duplicates or make them into variation of one model and add more cars that are not Japanese.

Take advantage of established business relationships.

Recruit better sound designers (he is already addressing this).

Hire more car modelers. Grab car models from Driveclub as well, there is no reason two Sony dev studios need to remodel the exact same cars when all of the cars are licensed to Sony itself. Standardize what data needs to be recorded from each car across Polyphony Digital and Evolution Studios so both can exchange cars for the respective games. If necessary, let Evolution Studios handle the data capturing of current models lineups (since they specialize in that area), make them gather the extra data that Polyphony Digital would require (since Driveclub is an arcade racer and not a sim) and have Polyphony focus on data capturing the classic cars/race cars/specialty cars it is famous for.

Take complete and total advantage of his FIA relationship.
kazunori-yamauchi-and-jean-todt-01-e1403785424849-600x334.jpg

Take complete and total advantage of the fact that he is on speaking terms with the design teams of every large automaker (the Vision GT project).

Take complete and total and total advantage of his relationship with Lord March. This is one of the best events on earth yielding access to sports cars and race cars never seen in a video game.
goodwood-march_1849842i.jpg

Take complete and total advantage of the fact that Yamauchi is an official judge at the Pebble Beach Concours d"Elegance. Just because a car didn't win the Gran Turismo Award doesn't mean it should be allowed to slip through your fingers. Here he is pictured with Glickenhaus. That should be capitalized on. If Yamauchi wants his "virtual car museum" to come true he has to take advantage of these relationships (like his access to Jay Leno's garage).
i139iIlJrsOEX8E.jpg

Take full advantage of his relationship with the VLN and the ADAC GT. The fact that so little cars from this series appear in the game is strange seeing that it is the only series Yamauchi actively participates in.

Take full advantage of the Super GT series.

I would:

Make standards a free, day 1 DLC for anyone who wants them to shut up everyone who doesn't want them around. Upgrade a lot of standards to premium, add more premium cars. Add new race cars from major series.

Separate the game into two parts: Arcade and Career. In arcade, you get access to every car in the game and can modify and tune them to your liking. You can save modified cars for later use. Career would be a lot like Gran Turismo 4's career mode. Has a used car lot and all that jazz. Takes something like 50 hours to beat if you do the minimum amount of races, 200 if you do all races excluding endurance races. Cars from both modes would be accessible in online races.

Add a course creator with a lot of different locations and surface types. Make it possible to adjust a lot of things like how grippy the road is in some parts, how big the rumble strips and runoffs are, etc. Also make it possible to add things to the road like bumps, jumps, leaves, rocks, sand, water, rivers crossing the road, drainage ditches on the sides, etc.

Fix online and test for glitches. This is the main reason that I am starting to dislike GT6 at the moment. There are far too many bugs and I disconnect from races all the time. It's infuriating.

Over everything else, finish the game before releasing it.

I would completely put all versions of the Miatas, RX7 and other and put only one model.

Standard cars would disapear, i would add more body kits, spoilers and vinyls like Forza and put Drivatars of the other players.

All cars would be Premium, like I said before the cars that many models I would put only one.

A larger variety of cars, Open Wheel, Track, Hypercars, Supercars, Hot Hatch, Classics, Super GT, GT300, GT500, Indy Car, Le Mans and many many more

These are just some ideas

I would give GT an identity, in my opinion it lacks focus, it's never one thing nor the other this generation. Go deeper into the simulation side of things, or make the game more fun with open world play.

I think we all want a gran turismo that can be uniquely ours. That's what my focus would be on.

First point of call. Standard cars if they're copies of premium cars they must go. We won't notice the difference between a 95 gtr and a 97 gtr.

Then I'd focus on tuning and modifications. At the moment we all follow the same tuning path and apart from our suspension, aero, weight and tyre setups we end up with the same car. so i would introduce many different tuning that specialise in many different types of vehicle. I.e Ams for the GtR or spoon for the s2000. Where you can buy complete cars from them or parts that you can mesh with parts from other tuners. No forgetting in house tuners aswell. You could have an nsx with a toda 3.5l a taitec exhaust and tuned by Tracy sports chassis tuned by mugen with advan ado8r. For example. Now that car would be uniquely yours. Along with multiple aero kits and livery editor they helped driveclub so even if they borrowed theirs itd be a start then that woukd bring me to my next point. We shoud be able to trade cars online obviously the setup would be locked allowing only for suspension parameter changes. It would be nice if we could do our own fuel ignition mapping.

Those that like drag racing would have a field day trying to extract the most bhp from their engines likewise grip drivers finding the best chassis to eek the most out of tyre. No doubt some of you will become so good at finding the best parts youll make a ton of cr selling cars.

Career mode needs a refresh entry. Keep the license tests we may hate them but they're fun. We need an entry level for karts and cars like the mx5 and civic. A street level for races like schwarligue b what ever its called. A tuner class where you must earn enough of a tuners respect to race their car in what would be like a hot version international battle. Then pro saloon, pro rally, pro gt, pro stock, pro karts. These pro cars will have to be purchased from in house tuners and modified with your own liveries.

Tracks as many as possible, some street race point to point blasts. That las Vegas drag strip we've been waiting for since GT4. Some touge runs. Someone mentioned test tracks earlier they're imperative for benchmarking.

Our track editor with gps again weve been waiting for that we've all wanted to race our route to work right?

Carry Vision GT on!

PD have missed the boat with a fair few cars the last 9 years a multitude of fast mercs audi s and beemers. Ruf have been left completely untouched. Lotus and Aston Martin need an update. Why no premium Supra? Ford? Where are the cosworths? Opel and vauxhall vxr range? Id visit those issues and fill in those gaps

I'd like a game that is identifiable as Gran Turismo i want the feeling gt1 2 3 and 4 gave me i feel this last generation they've just polished gt4 i want the extras that a more powerful system should deliver an openess to explore.

It's hard to answer something like this. I would rather be some "advisor" of sorts to Kazunori, some person that would say "hey, you know what would be cool?". Then, introduce Practice, Qualifying, things that made Toca 3 a much better racing experience than any GT game so far. Introduce variety in racing, there are many cars from different classes, but there aren't a lot of actual championships dedicated to those different classes. Make rally REAL rally, narrow courses, point to point, focus on the physics. Try to focus on giving the player what he/she needs. Make the game a pleasable experience, it's awful playing a game and noticing small things that could be better, or worse, small things that make the game infuriating, like one button that could get you to the main menu from anywhere, and yet it is missing. Focus a lot on Photomode as well.

A dedicated career mode is needed, "you can't enter this championship until you have won X or finished at least X in X". Make it feel progressive, but more over, add a lot of championships, as the game has always felt a little lacking in that regard. Pay attention to the offline mode, a good offline mode needs to give a good experience for those who don't enjoy onlinle.

In the end I feel I would, in first place, change the things that sucked in previous GT games. That should always be the first step to take.
