Intercontinental GT500 Championship Season Two - Finished

Well after seeing some of the upload speeds here I do think lowering the room quality to Standard is the best solution, so my room is now at Standard race quality and Low voice quality. This means less demanded traffic to our connection and I do think we wont feel any different.

Room is also open if you guys want to join :)
(since there is now formula1 today you guys have no excuse so come on in) 👍

Moto GP for the first time since we lost Marco is a just excuse. Might come in a bit to see what standard is like.

We'll be doing GVS again next week...the results from tonight's race do not count.

We do this as the lag party wasn't a race, those who will race need to be in the room one hour before the race as we are going to do several tests before the race starts.

My connection speed is better than this, normally fine in open rooms though and in a rural area of the uk which results in the slow speeds

In open rooms you have the option to set the room to fixed ownership, so instead of you having to send your data to everyone you send the information to the room owner. Then the room owner will send the information to the others in the room for you. The room owner will handle a lot of traffic, but the rest in the room will handle a lot less.

We could do a open room, I see more than one championship here on GTP do it, but there are some problems with that too. First of all we would have random people joining before the room is full. Could cause us not to be able to join before they are kicked out. And if a player disconnect we will have a open slot and since the room is open we will get the same thing happen. Could be really annoying to see the window pop up during the race to tell everyone that some random guy joined to room.

I personally like the private lounge, as it is much more.. private :) But it do require more internet speed of the people racing in it.

The fixed open room also allow people with NAT3 to join, witch a private lounge do not. But a room with fixed ownership dies if the host disconnect.

Once we get everything sorted for saturday GVS race , I'm happy .

I really wanted to test out my strategy , I think I had the potential to be on the podium.

I can't believe some people started on the hard tires .

why is that unbelievable :dunce:??

why is that unbelievable :dunce:??

your putting yourself at a disadvantage from the start of the race.

Its like in formula 1 , you never see any of the top teams starting on the prime tire , they always start on the option . its more the mid level and back runners who start on the prime harder tire .

My plan for that race was to start on soft which i did i qualified 3rd , i would run my first 2 stints on the soft , then pit for hards run the 6 laps and then pit back for soft . I would be finishing on soft when hopefully and more than likely others would be finishing on the hard.

Well after doing 2 laps more than needed on hard tyres on Suzuka I placed second behind a dominating C-Falcon, but I parked guys like IMMORTALPILOT, GP-CiaN and the rest of the guys in the field. It's a difficult tactic, when you have to see everyone goes faster than you in the start, but if you stay calm and just push it to the limit your first couple of laps on hard will be faster in the beginning of the race.
First of all, the guys on soft do not go as fast as when they are alone on the track. They have to go a lot slower to avoid collisions and make room for others, so it's not that difficult to keep up with the field on hard tyres.
And when your car is the most heavy your hard tyres will warm up a lot quicker than when your fuel tank is almost empty.
Also when adding ballast to your car the soft tyres seem to wear a lot faster, so if you start on hard you can get rid of some fuel and put soft on. Then they last a lap or two longer or you can push them harder.
I been testing a lot and in the end it comes down to the total time spent on track before you pass the finish line. On some tracks making passes are pretty hard even if you are faster than the guy in front so on tracks like this it could be smart to have the hard in the last stint, but after being pushed to a standstill at Monaco because the guy behind me acted like a fool I decided I never end a race on hard again. Lucky for this guy this was before fast forward replay showed up in gt5 and I couldn't bother watching the entire replay 2-3 times to check if it was a penalty or not

You're more unlikely to win the race, but you more likely to finish with a solid position.

id have to try that on a track where the difference in the soft/hard times isnt that great , but it was about a 6 second difference at gvs. 6x6 is 36 , so after 6 laps i would be down 36 laps thats not good at all. but i guess it evens out cuz the guys on soft will have to run hard and then they will lose 36 seconds.

ill still always start on soft :0

interesting point there erik

You would be going back in time as the race was only 34laps.. I'm sorry I know you mean seconds, I just couldn't help my self :)

I like starting on softs for a simple reason, to avoid missing the bus. At Fuji I was following immortal and GP at the start which gave a massive boost to my times on a full tank. I might try starting on hards for one race, the idea of getting some wheelspin to warm those rears is very appealing.

Yes I meant seconds oops.

Awesome league you guys are running , love the tire rules and ballast rules.

I'm in for season 3 , it would be interesting if you brought the medium tire in the mix.

Exactly, and as i'm never gonna win, i start with hard tires for a solid position...

my thoughts also. 👍

you hope some "soft" drivers screw up at the start or don't drive away fast becaus they are fighting.... and it is not a big disaster when there is a pile up. It worked just perfectly for me at the first 2 starts at GVS.
the third time it didn't went well becaus someone pushed me into te gravel, and i had a moment offcourse in the hairpin. but then i started to comeback....

If i feel the car isn't fast enough i like to start on hards. becaus usual on soft i screw it up in the first corners.

i don't know why, but my 3 starts were all better than erik and nether's... you guys had hard time with the lag, right???

This is a change I REALLY want to implement into season three.

I'll probably start on hard tyres this weekend at GVS Attempt 2 simply because I don't think I've done so since Suzuka.

Well I had a hard time with people around me obviously not capable of enough upload so I only saw people morphing around. And due to the lag I didn't want to take any chance of blasting someone off the track so I started out a bit careful. Unlike someone almost pushing me off track to get through the pack 👎

This is a change I REALLY want to implement into season three.

You have my vote :)

I was already aware of that and I do share your concern. Should stick to a private lounge to be honest

You were insane, in one corner, i did take it okay on the inside line and you just came around me on the outside line like i was standing still or something.:yuck:

I was searching for you in the exit actually :P I thought you broke in order not to hit me :embarrassed:
DS3 > T500RS :sly::dunce:

i forgot to ask anastasis, what to hell were you doing one the warm-up lap(rolling start) :odd: :D

i put the brake balance to F 10 and R 0 to warm my front tires:idea:
i was accerating and stopping as much as i can.. i was doing o-100 and 100-0 you can say:dopey:

How can you change brake balance while driving ?

This is news to me , I didn't know this was possible
