I'm currently running in the Tuned Clio, just on R3 tyres and a little wing adjustment. It's good fun, I can get a decent start and gain a couple of seconds over the competition, but lose it all on the long "straight" before Spoon. I can fight for a podium sometimes, which is pretty fun.

You racing today?? I'm in within 3hours from now.. 👍 Would be fun to get some Elise action.. :)

Holy **** almost reported your post instead of quoting it!:scared:

Anyway, yeah I'll be there in my white elise and btw made a great tune for the 111r now, 1.57.1xx - 1.57.3xx average lap time, but wierdly I always feel more comfortable in the '96 elise despite being about half a second a lap slower.

I'd love to have a 12 driver elise only race, that'd be so cool. :)

I was watching my mirrors we had to keep braking on the apexs to avoid hitting the Clio which caused a domino effect and multiple contact, I believe 2 of the 4 ended up in the gravel eventually.

If you had to brake on the apexs, I woudn't count that as the leading car's fault. You must have known that it would be slower through the esses.. why enter the corners with so much speed? Or did the clio brake on the apex? ..would hardly be the cars fault??

That would be awesome!! The high grip would provide beautiful racing!! 👍

It has to be said going through the 130R without lifting at 160mph (257kph) is one of the best feelings in the game for me. Even more so when the guy behind or in front of you does the same *nudge nudge* MAD!👍

OI DRAGONISTIC

I would like to just thank you. Why? I here you say.

Because I have just won my first online race. I used your RVT setup for the GTLM, for this event and it works like a dream. I led from start to finish and didn;t see a single sand trap.

Great work on the tuning, for once I have found one that actually works. The car runs on rails. Fantastic.

Cheers Grim (aka Jamie).:)

@ Timp

It was constantly braking on the corners in the esses, I've got the reactions to cope with that, 4 guys together don't.

@ Grim
Your welcome.

Ok.. I see.. I knew it wasn't the cars fault. 👍

:)

Well its an MR so he mightve had to do it to shift the weight over the front because its happened with a few drivers using them.

Coming on now for the :45 race. Hope to see some guys there.

Oh and what time do you use? I use GTP's time which is at the bottom of any GTP forum page.

The hardest car to pass appears to be the Clio/Tuned, they often ruin races by bunching everybody up after getting a high grid spot, slowing everybody down on every turn, then booting it down the straights so you can't get a run on them.

Surely then it's a case that other drivers have to impove there racing skills.

Well, I don't know...

It might be that. 👍 ..and that's quite predictable too.

I tried the car myself and it suffers from chronic understeer, which is probably what brings about the inconsistent braking, also its up to a full 2 seconds slower then many other cars in sector one (in my hands at least), but of course in a race its in the way slowing everyone down those 2 seconds then staying ahead with brute power. I didnt realise it was that much slower so i can see why we were bunched so quickly. The cars weakness in terms of overtake spots (which i will now exploit) appears to be 130R, problem is itll overtake right back on the final straight or if you're not in the fastest of cars you won't even be close enough to attack.

Such a lovely race I had a couple hours ago, lead the whole thing start to finish after taking the lead in the esses on lap 1 and got disconnected on lap 4, had a huge lead.:grumpy:

Zabeu, you racing nowadays somewhere?? :)

Thanks for asking :), no, I've tried 750pp and found it too fast. :D

Seriously, I liked the comparably sedate pace of the 600 class much better. The extreme grip and speed of the 750 event make close racing a lot harder. Since the consequences of driving mistakes are far more serious, so is the risk you run in the proximity of inexperienced drivers. Who incidentally seem to be attracted by high-pp events like this one. And then there's the lag of an international event to top it off ... no, I'm still waiting for Suzuka Pro 600 on S-compound to return.

Heeey Zab, did you notlike the 430 vs GTR event on Suzuka with the R1s?

Keep that NSX in shape ;)

All the best

If I'm following a slower car through the esses, I'm fine with it. The guy is going as fast as his abilities/car will allow. I will have patience because surely I will get my chance, it's a 5 lap race.
Conversely, if I am in front of a faster driver (there are many :nervous:), I will expect the same patience.
...............or should I dutifully take my place at the rear of the field?

Personally, I'll have them fight to get past me, it is a race after all. But if I know their car is much faster in a straight line, then I'll move off the racing line down a straight. However, I will make exception if I've noticed someone has been plowing through the field.

EDIT: Sounds like I meant I wont move out the way for someone who has been plowing through the field, but I was referring to the first sentence. :P Bad sentence structure wins again.

Join us in the one make / two make meeting... here...

But I can see your point there.. I miss the Suzuka 600 too, as many of us. But I'm going now xx:00, would be fun to see you there!! I will be in the Elise.. (I know you prefer lower grip, but you should really give this a go, with good company it's great fun!!)

+ I will be hosting most of mine races again... hopefully it means less lag (not sure though) ;)

Maffski, you coming or not? :)

The 430 and the GT-R are fantastic cars, but it seems to me that in the search for perfection their designers forgot to include character. On R1 they both drive like on rails! I didn't do much racing in that event.

And sure, I'm taking the old Honda for a spin every now and then, just to make sure the engine still turns ;).

That's a great idea, and I've seriously considered it but I really only want to drive the NSX. :dunce:

I keep getting 'failed to connect' messages, sorry if I keep missing you Timppaq.

Anyone got an idea whats causing that?

i get that a lot when both the pc and ps3 are running at the same time.. dont know if thats any help:)

Fantastic race last time, pure poetry man... ciggy break for me, i'm sweating buckets!

Sorry for double post :dunce:

So, I see Dragonistic's on here bad-mouthing the Clio!

What makes the game interesting IMO, is that the different cars DO have different strengths & weaknesses. The tuned Corvette for eg. is faster on the straights than the Elise, but the Elise is way faster thru some of the turns. The skill involved in racing online is not just driving fast, but also in avoiding hitting the other cars that have different performance characteristics to the car you're driving.

Holding the Clio together thru the turns & then using its speed on the straights is just as interesting & challenging as using a car that is faster thru the turns & slower on the straights. ie, IT'S ALL GOOD! 👍

Finally: 5 laps definitely helps balance things out - longer races would work even better...

I agree with what you've said but the problem is that some combinations are annoyingly predictable. I don't have a problem with clios in my GT06, I've had some great head to heads with GTRP-Muffin in exactly that car but put me up against a Vette on suzuka or a GTR at Fuji and there's absolutely nothing I can do to win.

I can't help hating the cars that are impossible to win against.

That's a completely different issue. Dragonistic was complaining about some cars being too SLOW & therefore holding up (brilliant) drivers like himself.

From where I'm sitting it wasn't just the Clio that got bad mouthed.

You're exactly right. Someone's got to win, someone's got to lose. As the saying goes it's not the destination that's important, it's enjoying the trip. Rather than giving it the big "I am" some would do well to focus a bit less on their own win records and more on having consideration for other drivers, whatever car they happen to be using.
