Hey, just accepted. Thanks for the compliment, though I feel I lucked out with the track, as it suits my style. Feeling sketchy about Lime Rock in the MX5 and racing the Skippy wheel-to-wheel anywhere. :nervous:

Why would it be hard to pull up your irating in a few months, I'm sure if you're more confident in your skills it should easier, no?

Well I've seen folks iRating slump all the way down to like 300 or so :scared:

How many races would it take to pull that up I can only guess. When you have a high iRating you get to participate in the higher splits (increasing chances of getting broadcast, etc). Maybe I shouldn't get so hung up on numbers and all but the little achiever in me can't help it

Been practicing again in the MX-5. Man I'd forgotten how easy this car is to control and steer. I've only lost control of it once out of like 60 laps or so

yea esp after you drive the jetta, the MX-5 is a dream

The MX-5 is a lovely car, and the perfect car to suck people into the sim because its so neutral and easy to drive, that Solstice on the other hand is one of the hardest cars to drive in the sim, atleast for me.

I agree, I tried it once. I couldn't keep the tail from kicking out, even when I feathered the throttle it still wanted to come around.

If you're afraid of losing iRating do your races without qualifying. That way you'll start at the back of the grid and it becomes easier to gain iRating as you'll probably gain a few positions during the race if you don't screw up.

good thinking. My problem is I can't do a race without racing lol

Who said you don't have to race? I did a fixed Prototype and GT race last week at Road Atlanta. Started from the pits (28th) and passed my way up to 5th overall after the 25 minutes were up. I even pulled some 3 wide and epic traffic maneuvers. My times were good enough for second too.

The way livemusic said it it sounded like you just hang in the back the whole race lol. I haven't qualified in awhile and I always start in the middle to front of the grind. I raced yesterday without qualifying and I started 5th and finished 5th (would of finished 3rd, but I messed up:grumpy:)

I haven't done a qualifying race in a long time.

Yeah, I only qualify in the series that i'm running for points. Otherwise I could care less.

I need to find some kinda way to drive faster... I finally hit 1.05.00 last night with the mx-5 at okayama and was happy cause I thought this was average. lol, these rookies are hitting 1.00.000 with ease! So now i gotta keep practicing til I can drop these 5 seconds. I think I'm screwing up at Turn 1. I'm going to study that guys replays in the rookie forums again tonight

At least I'm not spinning out. If I try to push in the Skippy I'd be spinning all over the place. in the mx-5 in a TT I gain very little incidents going all out

Watching replays helps a lot, and watching real life replays does too. I usually watch real life replays because I can tell weight transfer and throttle/brake movement a lot better. But that's just me.

Interesting, since I'm down to 1057 irating I'd hopefully get into a bottom split where they are hitting 1.03->1.04. I forgot to check the individual splits.

yeah, for some reason my iRating is low. probably because of my early iRacing days of crashing in just about every race haha. But now I know how to separate the difference of how people react in real life compared to iRacing.

Yea I'm in the same boat. I think I'm pushing the car as hard as I can and than I see others peoples times and they have a couple seconds on me. I know on some tracks where I can find some more time, but I can't find it lol :dunce:

If your within 3 seconds from the Pro DWC guys then your doing well. I believe the MX5 is still on the old tire model. So people that are mad fast are driving them quite unrealistically.

Not counting the times where I was hit or spun out, I have done a pretty good job of holding my own, time wise I think.

When will the NTM come out for everything?? I know it's only available for some cars. I can't wait to try it out.

shinny I just double checked your iRating and thats pretty high right?! Cause if over 1700+ is low then I have no hope :scared:

Yeah, it was 2500 a year ago. But like the DWC guys are running in 4000's I think.

And I'm not really sure when the NTM will be out for all the cars. I know they are redoing the NTM on the current cars because the people of iRacing think that they are incorrect. To me they feel really good. Aside from the fact that your outlap is your quickest lap.

Did the last two races with the Skip in Watkins Glen. First race I started at 15th and managed to get up to 7th but after a few laps the guy in 6th spun at T1 and I was too close to avoid hitting him, so I finished at last place. :P

Second race I started at 8th and managed to get up to 4th but my girlfriend started to call me on my cellphone so I quit the race with four laps to go... So let's just say I lost some iRating today.

Now the track changed to Mosport and I'll only be able to buy it on friday when I get the $15 code from iRacing. But tomorrow night I have a private league race at Watkins, let's hope I can do better than today.

^ Why did you quit with only 4 laps left? You could of just called her back lol

There is one (of many) thing I still don't fully understand about seasons in IRACING. Every week there is a new track and you get points, but couldn't you just race all the time and get your points up to win? How does that work? Do you only have one race for that season a week to get points and the other races won't count towards it?

Edit, I think I remember hearing about, averages from 3 races or 5 races? I love IRACING but it is hard for my to get an idea of what is going on sometimes. I sign on and do practice and TT, then I join the NVIDIA season. I've been doing that the whole time, and I only race on Sunday.

It will take the best of 2 races. Then if you race more than 2 races that week it averages them I believe.

Honestly I'm not looking forward to the NTM hitting all the cars. The FFB in the Skippy just can't hold a candle to all the other cars in my garage on the old tire model (Riley, F1, Star Mazda, MX-5, etc). Maybe the Skippy's FFB was like this in the OTM though I wouldn't know

Did bout 40 laps or so in the MX-5 last night and had a lot of fun. Got my times down to a pretty consistent low 1.03 to high 1.02. I am going to try to shave away another second. Using the TAB key to view my splits, I see I am actually gaining a second through splits 1 & 2 but then as soon as I hit Split 3, I lose that 'green' second I gained. Very frustrating I'm always losing a second right at the beginning of Split 3. So I gotta go back and watch the rookie film to see how the guy is getting past that turn. If I could just maintain my speed I could get down to 1.01 and be ready to race in the NVIDIA Cup.

Great thing bout the rookie series is the map rotation only has 2 maps which gives people plenty of time to master the tracks. What I hated bout the Skip Barber series is I finally started enjoying New Hampshire and it switched to Watkins Glen, etc before I got a chance to master the track

You might want to check into an app for iRacing that checks if your FFB is peaking. Then adjust it accordingly. Then it might feel a fair bit differently.

Awesome! I'd say you can easily be competitive with your current times (assuming you're talking about Okayama), if you got into the .01s you could blow most of the field away.

Forgot to mention I was practicing on Lime Rock haha. The track switched over last night. The top guys are hitting 1.00s. I bet you're hitting that :(
