Breaking in???

Cars from the OCD are fully broken in when you buy them. Something else I noticed is that my car has a load of understeer now and my braking points seem to have changed.

If anyone is available, join me in Tom's lounge (I'm there by myself) and let me know if you notice any differences as well.

The understeer is really noticeable through Eau Rouge and in the chicane after Les Combes. I just tried it again and hit 203mph (though I outbraked myself after).

It's like my car doesn't have any aero on it at all.

EDIT: Wow I'm dumb. I forgot that I ran the car on SSR7 last night and took all the aero off. False alarm! :dunce:

For the end of the pace lap at Spa, I think we should try to double up in time for the final chicane, and make the pace speed something like 50mph once people get to the chicane. Otherwise there may be accidents with people trying to get back up to 70mph after the chicane.
The way we currently have it would only give enough time for the first 3 rows or so to get double file in time for the green flag. At the green everyone else would be far behind the leaders, still queuing at the chicane.

Haha nice one Joe

And yep that sounds fine, we'll slow to 50mph just before the chicane 👍

I was like wtf then read the edit. And this is my team mate lol.

Can't make it tonight man, watching talladega about an hour behind live. Need to get some time on spa though. Only run those three or so laps with you.

Yeah of course you can, just use the sign up form on the OP, like this.

US or UK series?:

👍

TomMcD I'll be trying to add you in about 30 minutes so that I can try out the track. If your lounge is still open.

My lounge is always open, even if I'm not online (which I am anyway, but I'm playing Madden) :)

A perfect race at Spa would take 28 1/2 minutes (not including the time for the pace lap). I just did the race distance in 29 minutes and took off time for all the time I lost from mistakes/spins.

lesoldham: If I'm still in his lounge and it won't let you join because of network incompatibility, let me know and I'll leave the lounge. The room will still be at Spa by default, but you'd have to change some of the room settings to match our regulations.

That sounds good, I intended it to be shorter anyway 👍

Ah right that doesn't sound too different now you mention. If there is a S2, I think I'd add a few more rounds. But for the time being 6 is fine.

If there's a S2 I'd add Spa into the main season instead of a pre-season practice race, and probably want Suzuka added. Last night I was trying the car at various tracks to see if they'd work. SSR5's laptimes are too short (under 1:10), and the car doesn't like Cape Ring much. SSR7 could potentially work as a sort of cross between oval racing and road course racing, though the lack of a pitlane means that you can't refuel or fix damage, so damage would have to be on light, and the race would have to be 8 laps or shorter to avoid running out of gas, with no pace lap. (4 1/2 minutes for a lap round there, which would make for a 36 minute race)

I'll stay in Tom's lounge until you arrive, lesoldham. That way the room settings are preserved for you, rather than me leaving and you having to change a load of options when you join.

Yeah I'd almost definitely do Spa and Suzuka, maybe even swap the Tokyo race with Madrid like the US schedule. Hopefully they add some more US tracks with these 'DLC batches'.

I'm guessing/hoping these DLC batches contain the tracks that had their track logos discovered on the GT5 website a while back. (apart from the Piazza Del Campo kart track, which was removed as a raceable track).

I'd also like Complex String to return.

I want them to include Donnington or Silverstone so we can bring IndyCar to the UK :sly: I also really wanted to do a weather race, but then I thought we'd have tyre issues.

The tyre issues could be sorted by penalising anyone that uses tyres other than comfort hard/medium and wet/intermediate.

Of the two, Silverstone would probably be the easiest track to drive in these cars, due to the elevation changes at Donington.

I suppose so, but to be honest I don't think the Nurburgring or Le Sarthe are particularly suited to our cars anyway. I chose mostly US tracks to make it more authentic (sad but true) and only added the Japan race because Indy (used to) race there

La Sarthe may work for these cars, though I'd agree about the Nurb (both the Nordschleife and the GP Strecke). I'd prefer to have Donington over Silverstone, I just think Silverstone would be easier to drive in these cars.

As for American tracks, Infineon/Sonoma was one of the track logos found on the GT website, so there's a chance we'll get that in one of the DLC batches (GT4 had the sports car layout and the stock car layout). If PD add Infineon but don't let you run on the drag strip, I imagine some people will be angry/annoyed.

I don't remember if Seattle was among the logos, I'll have a check.

Infineon would be a definite if it was added, and I get the feeling they probably will.

Infineon, Twin Ring and Seattle as a city course would be great :P I do prefer real world tracks to the original circuits mostly, with a few possible exceptions like Grand Valley. So I would like either an American or British track pack.

Tom. You still up? Please respond to my friend request. Cheers.

Since the race is scheduled for Wednesday, I thought I'd say this once again. The pre season event is open to both US and UK drivers, it is not vital that everybody attends (as there are no championship points and only 1 lounge) but if you want to compete this week you have to add me on PSN ASAP! 👍

EDIT: Added. And would you guys help me out and vote on this poll? It's about a series I'm planning to start sometime around or after Christmas. If you vote you're not automatically putting your name down to join, don't worry  I just want some of your thoughts, cheers!

Thanks Tom. I ran for about an hour last night. Chose to set up the car with stable settings which limit my top end. Ran consistent mid 1.57's at the end. It will take me quite a lot of practice to get in the 1.54's. (if ever) I'll try to make the race Wednesday depending on what time it is here when the race starts there.

Edit: Well I probably won't make it. It will be noon here and I will still be at work.

Maybe we could have a USA version on Sat. or Sun?

I don't think I'll be running consistent 1:54/5's in the race to be honest, likely to be slower. Okay mate, the race is at the normal UK time on the OP 👍

EDIT: Ahh right, I forgot you were in America pal, season kicks off next week anyway.

Lupo Cup :) thought about one of those before or why nobody did one.

TomMcD
So did I actually! There's 2 in the game and nobody has ever used them 💡

I was in a Lupo Cup lobby a while ago and we were racing on Monza :) good fun, because it was just overtake, overtake, overtake in a pack :)
