Joe, remember the qualifying sessions in SCANA? We may have to consider, and quickly, combining into one series rather than joint series.

Sorry to hear your troubles LV.

Care to elaborate mate? :) The problem is, if LV can't host etc. the majority of our drivers are in the US series, we'd have to find some solution.

In the days of SCANA (NASCAR series) you had up to 32 cars wanting to be in main race. Therefore two simultaneous sprint races were held and the top 7 in each (discounting the hosts) qualified for the main event straight after.

Thus could upset people but maybe host one night with this format? Problem is you will either lose some UK or US representatives.

Hmmm it seems like an option, but as you say we'll lose people. Let's wait till LV is certain 👍

EDIT: Or alternatively, we could ask of all the US participants who could make the UK time and just run the one series. Just another idea we can look into.

I can host as I have a high speed connection ( 20 gig ) But because I am new here I don't want to officiate in any way. One of your regulars would be a better host but I will in a pinch.

I would not be able to make the UK time slot. I'm sure there are a few of us with good Internet connections (including me) that would be willing to host the room.

Ok, seems like we will run both series still. Gotta fill quite a few UK spaces on another note.

Ok so here's what has been decided on my part. The only isp wants to charge almost $300 a month for tv phone and internet. They wont let us do just internet and because they're the only provider here they can set the price. However, my roommates dad already has the service and lives 250ft from us. So we're going to buy a long distance router and borrow from him.

Now good news first, It's a decently fast internet and I should* be able to race without issue.

Bad news, I will be wireless so its likely I will not be able to host. Also, it will be another week or so before we have the money for the router.

So right now I'm shooting for a US season opener sometime in the first 2 weeks of November. I need someone who will be able to host without issue as a backup in case I am not able to, and I will still be the main official of the US series.

Sounds like a great solution and I'm sure there are enough US to make this work.

And yes, we need more UK members so will do a few shameless plugs on other series I'm in later on.

I'm wireless, so i'm hoping for no issues. Ok mate, i'm sure someone else will host for you 👍

Good work Knelly ;)

I would certainly offer myself to be a host until LVracerGT gets his issues fixed, but with these brazilian ISP's that is impossible.

Regards,

Watching Talladega something occurred to me. In qualifying for the ovals will we run one at a time or all on the track at once? (All on is the only way I have ever done it) If all on then it would be good to have a team mate help with drafting during qualifying. Of course on longer races like these, qualifying order may not make much difference.

Qualifying is as you say, not gonna be so important in the long oval races. I think the way it's going to be is all on at the same time, and try and get a clean run.

If i'm not mistaken, draft is off in pre race online. Can anybody confirm this?

Qualifying on ovals in the US series will be one car at a time. 1 out lap and 2 flying laps. Because bonus points are awarded for pole position, qualifying will be taken seriously at every event on the US calendar.

I don't think it's really neccesary for the road courses, it should work like in F1 where you give yourself some room on your out lap and then start posting lap times.

But for the oval courses, I might consider the same system you just mentioned. I think quali would have to start at least 15 mins earlier though, wouldn't be a problem as the room would already be open.

Thoughts?

The 1 car qualifying will be for ovals only. Road courses will be like you mentioned. All cars on track for 15 mins.

I scored a few laps at Spa today and I am afraid I will not have a good pre-season time. Apart from not being able to go under 1:54, I am having a hard time being consistent. I might enter pits at every lap to fix car damage LOL

Don't think you'll be alone mate, by a long shot. I have only put in three laps here myself.

Off topic but, RIP Marco Simoncelli who died at Moto GP today. What's that, 2 deaths in a week of racing? 👎 👎 👎

What?! Another person died? Wow! Terrible week for motorsport... :(

R.I.P.

And sadly I think today is the memorial of Dan Wheldon. Correct?

Yes today was the funeral of Dan Wheldon, sad that on the same day a Moto GP racer should die another sad accident.
RIP Marco Simoncelli

Wow, this is very sad news. I have already read a few anti motor racing articles, I hope this doesn't add wind to their sails.

Accidents are always going to happen occasionally when you're going 200 mph at close quarters with other cars/bikes. It's really sad news, unfortunately it's normally a case of 'Wrong place, wrong time' when it comes to motorsport.

Just had an odd moment at Spa. I usually get 199mph along Les Combes on a full tank of fuel, and 200mph after I've used some fuel up. With a full tank and cold hard tyres, I just hit 201mph, having not changed anything from normal. :dunce:

EDIT: Make that 202mph.
