Well I think to deter those irritating people from quadruple posting etc. etc., the rule has to apply to everyone unfortunately. That seems the most likely explanation.

And 1:54's at Spa?! Oh god. Either my driving skills are horrific (most likely), I need a better tune, or both cause' I'm only managing about 1:57-8 :( I just get oversteer coming out of every corner, wish this thing would grip more.

Add me please mate. 👍

If that's not much to ask, the opening post could be updated with info about the Pre-Season Race at Circuit De Spa-Francorchamps. I guess that, once it was discussed only in mid-thread, not everyone might be aware of this event.

Here is a little image that you could use, but that's just a hint :)

EDIT: Took a few laps at Spa with Road settings and went as fast as very low 1:54's. This car matches this track in an unique way. I am delighted! Also I think this time can be brought to high 1:52's, but only with a virtually perfect lap.

Regards,

You're all so much faster than me at the moment haha. Will do tonight when I get home 👍

And welcome to the series Mitchman.

A wee question from one of the new guys. Could you post in the OP the Lounge that will be used for the practices and races? Are the races in a private lounge or public?
I probably can't practice until the week end (too busy) but would like to try out the new track.
In the meantime I'll use F1 2011 to familiarize myself with the track layout. The physics of the two games is significantly different so I can't really practice.

Yep sorry guys, I'll do it now. I have school till mid afternoon so I can't always reply.

EDIT: OP is updated with Pre season info and lounge information.

Awsome setup you have here, after finally looking thru this thread(thanks to berty1979) I am excited to offer my application:)

Nice to see you from the FGTC mate, welcome aboard :)

EDIT: And on another note, I've finally found a decent tune. Hitting mid to high 1:54's fairly consistently.

It's just a matter of getting used to the track. Glad to hear you are having a good time with this track. Also, thanks for updating the OP, and don't worry about not having 24h a day to update everything. We are not blaming you, just making sure nothing is left behind.

I have two tests this afternoon, but at night I will try to improve my times a little bit. I would suggest everyone to practice at Tom's lounge aswell, so if there's more than one racer practicing, the loneliness is gone :)

In my case, that's the only option since I don't have the DLC yet.

Regards,

Yep, it's a great addition to GT5, awesome circuit. Looking forward to next Wednesday 👍

Anyone else tried the seasonal FGT time trial? I did a 1:09.7xx, which could've been 2 tenths quicker if I hadn't made a mistake into the first of the two tight hairpins. This was done in my old worn out blue FGT that needs it's chassis restored and is down on BHP and torgue. :sly: I think I was something like 379th overall when I set the time tonight.

You are definitely fast. I have not tried much, but I doubt I could do faster. Anyway, I will give it another try later.

I didn't have a great tune on my other FGT, so I just did it and got out of there. Was sliding around all over the place

I don't have any experience with this car but this looks like fun. I would like to join if I could.

Great I'll add you to the roster. Welcome 👍

EDIT: 13/15 US spots filled, 7/15 UK spots filled, need some more Brits! Oh and just a thought, do the US series have a safety car driver? Because Berty might not be able to do it, shall I ask?

Wow, I could not believe how good a build Spa was in Gran Turismo, very nicely rendered, clear and tight, just like the real track apparently (although never been there, lol).

The real life lap record on this version is 1:47 by Vettel from last year. You can go as fast as 1:40.xx with tire sim on in the Ferrari F2007. The F10 is good for 1:42.xx.

The F1 cars in GT5 are a bit slower in a straight line than the real cars and have a bit more grip than their real life counterparts. My guess is 1/4th a G too high.

In my opinion it looks better than most of the tracks already in game, I'm happy to pay for this kind of quality :) Our FGT's are the other way round, more speed on the straights and less grip in the corners.

Yeah, spa is absolutely beautiful to see and drive on. The f1 cars are a big disappointment for me, they have way too much grip, and a very low top speed. Fgt seems like a perfect balance of grip and speed for me:tup:

Is there any confirmation on who is going to host the room for the US?

I don't think there is yet. I believe LV wanted someone other than himself to host, but that's all I know.

Hey Knelly, clean out your inbox a little, it's full and I can't send you a PM with some info.

Yeah we'll have to ask him about that and who is going to host instead (if necessary) 👍

Since you wanted to know how my race distance test session (pace lap+the 15 laps) went, Tom, I'll post it here.

In total I lost about 10 seconds from various mistakes. One off into the gravel cost me 6 of these seconds. On lap 12 I set our new fastest lap round Spa- a 1:53.023 . I lost 0.04x in the middle part of that lap, so if you add up my best sector times, the best lap possible for me currently would be a 1:52.98x .

That's seriously quick mate, much better than my times. As you saw in those couple of laps we did I don't do too well under pressure  Thanks for testing it out, what was the total time if you don't mind me asking?

I don't know what the total time was, because I didn't check how much time had passed when I started and/or finished the pace lap. The first lap after the pace lap was a 1:56, most laps were 1:54's, 4 or so were 1:53's, and on a couple of laps I made mistakes, losing either 1/2 a second or 1 second for each mistake, and on one lap I went off and lost 6 seconds. I also lost about 2 seconds when I messed up the pit entry.

I didn't do too well under pressure either. At the start of our first lap I messed up La Source and you flew past.

Ah ok no worries, as I said I won't be on again till Sunday at least. It really is amazing how much somebody following you can affect your driving, I get really twitchy and try to go too fast.

You have to be good in a pack as well as being fast, shame I'm not great at either :P

This isn't set in stone yet, but I may not be able to run this season. I'm having a very difficult time finding an internet provider that has internet capable of gaming. I'm currently living out in the country and the only isp has way too high charges. I'll keep everyone updated.

Ok mate, I'm not sure what we'd do about the US hosting etc. But anyway hope you can get it sorted 👍
