I seemed to have missed something. Are there more details about the preseason shootout somewhere? I know it is on Nov 2 but race length and start times seem to be missing. Also who is the host since LV probably won't be able to host?

Both the pre season races are at the UK times in Knelly's lounge. The details are on the OP but anyway it's just,

20+1 laps at Indy & 20+1 laps at Daytona

Finally was able to get the update and dlc from my friends internet and managed a 1:53.2xx on spa with about 10 laps of practice. What times are you guys running?

Last week I think I ran about the same time as you around spa lvracer. It's a great track though, wouldn't mind if we ran a race there every other week.

Sounds awesome im in PSN=ACDCROCKS123 and i will join dragon racing if possible becasue i already got a white gran turismo

Oh hi mate, from the NASCAR right? :) I'll put you down as a reserve, but you may get promoted to a full time spot at some point as there's always dropouts early on 👍

Vouch for ACDC mate 👍

Yeah I know he's a good guy, won the race tonight didn't he? 👍

And I'm glad we've got the pace laps in this series so I can't make the same pathetic mistake again. Hope it gets patched ASAP :grumpy:

EDIT: Starting to worry about the UK series a bit, is 8 enough to run?

I've never done an online Oval race with a pace car/cautions before. Should be interesting. Obviously you must follow the pace car as soon as it appears on the track. Then cars are waved around if their in front of the leader.

Yep, should be great. All the pace and caution info on the OP, I suggest everybody reads it just so there's no confusion 👍 I might ask Berty to go safety car for this pre season just to try it out.

On a side note, i've found somebody willing to be the US safety but it's not definite as of yet.

If we don't get a decent amount of people for the UK series, we could see if anyone from the US series feels like doing double duty. Though to make it fair, if they end up 1st in both the US and UK series, they can't be champion of both, just one that they decide on beforehand. Think of it as being like the NASCAR sprint cup series drivers who are also taking part in the Nationwide series this year- before the season begins they have to decide which championship they'll go for.

Yeah that sounds like an awesome idea, just like NASCAR. I know Leonardo said he might be able to do the UK series, i'm sure a few other guys will aswell 👍

I'll be on later (about 10:00 BST), literally just to run about 5 laps of both Daytona and Indy.

I just want to make sure my setups are still good after Spec 2.

Who's around? Reckon I'll only be on no more than an hour.

In respect of the Pre Season Races this Wednesday at Daytona and Indy, and as I am hosting the room, I would like to set out how this will work in respect of Qualifying etc.

Room will open at 20:00 GMT with the Track being Indianapolis for Testing and Free Run.
Room will Change at 20:15 GMT to Daytona for Testing and Free Run.
Qualifying for Daytona will start at 20:30 with the Race scheduled for 20:45
After the Race the room will change to Indianapolis for 15 minutes Qualifying, with Race scheduled thereafter.

Even if you cannot make the first race, then please still try and make the second, which I guess will start at approximately 21:30 BST.

Please bear in mind that for this week I believe there is only a 4 hour gap between BST and EST

That is all 👍

I might not be able to join this series. I don't know for sure if the start times will work for me. It looks like races start right before I get home from work. So idk, we will see. I'll join if I can.

Is that for both UK and US mate?

Well idk the set time for either? I believe the UK is at 21:00GMT? Thats 5pm in Chicago, not ready till after 6pm usually, closer to 7pm. And I don't see a define time for the US Series. So idk??

The time for the US is on the OP? Practice at 20:30 EST, Quali 21:00 and race at 21:30 👍

Thanks for the schedule as well mate, seems like a good way to do it.

Oval shootout races are tomorrow! 👍 For countries whose clocks haven't gone back an hour yet, expect the room to be up an hour earlier than last time. Times will return to how they were last week for you when your clocks do eventually go back.

Guys my internet's been down for 2 days and I'm at the mall on Internet here, there was a big snowstorm :( so I'm still in the series.

Ok Cowboys, hope you're ok over there! We should have Tom and hopefully Bashman tomorrow at the race 👍

I'm expecting racing at Daytona to be fairly messy if we're running 2 wide. However, due to how we set the transmission and the weak slipstream, I think we'll see only one line, with people getting a run on the car ahead and trying to make the pass. Think of it as being like NASCAR restrictor plate races a couple of years ago, except that the outside line won't be able to keep up with the inside on GT5. Our bumpdrafting ban will also have an effect.

You could also think of it as being like the remote racing NASCAR B-Spec races at Daytona.

Indy will come down to your setup, and whether people can use the draft to stay with you.

I agree that 2 wide at Daytona is going to be dangerous if people don't hold their line, our IndyCar Finale is gonna be full of cautions. Still it's one of my favorite tracks

And there's only really one line at Indy, the inside line. You gotta hit them apex's.

There will very likely be two lines at Indy w/o bump drafting. I've raced these cars before there. It is a real lottery as to who will win these. :sly:

In real life of course Indianapolis drives like a circuit, the field breaks up & the best handling car/best driver wins. This Indy will be all draft back & forth. :nervous:

I very highly doubt we'll have 2 lines going at Indy. The high line is about 0.9 seconds slower per lap than the low line (tested each line when I did all my track testing). The weak draft should help the better drivers and setups get to and stay in front. Though this might not happen in our 20 laps shootout race, as the better setups normally start to shine as you get within 10 laps or so of a pit stop.

The only real way I've been able to find to pass at Daytona and Indy with weak slipstream is to get a run on someone through the corner and pass them with your superior exit speed.
