Well, the R roadster is now my dream lotto purchase. Guessed it would come eventually.

AWD F-type... so that's the "surprise" mah gurl Lorraine was talking about.

Something buried in the initial news tidbits I read that's now coming to the fore: AWD and the auto are now standard on the R. Two wheel drive combined with a V8 doesn't seem like it can be had now, though that doesn't jive with Jaguar's earlier statement that there'd be 14 different variants of the car for this model year.

If that's really the case though, I'm thinking the one-year-only RWD F-Type R Coupe will become a bit of a rarity...

It depends on the market. The F-Type R can be had in both configurations in the UK.

F-Type RS to be called SVR, will get all-wheel-drive:

I was under the impression that all-wheel-drive is now standard across the board on the F-Type. Is it that much of a deal to make it standard on the SVR?

I thought you could get the base model with RWD but I guess starting in 2015 they made it standard across the board. Which is a shame, that type of car really should have a RWD model.

You can get every model with RWD :S

The only thing you can't have is manual and 4WD, you have to choose between the two.

Unfortunately in the US, the R is AWD-only. Only the S can be optioned differently, though Jaguar represents the F-Type S & F-Type S AWD as different models in the lineup.

Base model only comes in RWD.

Not sure that rear wing works on the coupe. It should be a no-cost delete option.

Waiting for the XJ220 comparisons thanks to it's 200mph top end.

Looks amazing! I don't think the rear spoiler is an issue when it compared with the likes of the Nissan GT-R and Corvette Z06 but the active wing should be an option anyway. An All Wheel Drive variant would be incredibly quick!

There is a all-wheel drive F-Type out or coming, so, who knows.

I also hope there will be a spoiler like R. Also I think that there should be a pure racing version (rollcage/seats and so on) like GT3 RS. Also this thing is ACE, my fave car today on sale! It's so PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd rather just get the R Roadster AWD. I think the Project 7 and this SVR look too aggressive and it doesn't suit the overall sensual look of the body lines.

I'd rather they did 'GT3' style car using the manual V6 S coupe and try to get rid of some of the vast weight this car has for a 2 seat sports car.

I think that we'll have that (but with V8) because they made XKRS GT which surprised me. But some time will pass. For now there is a Don Law version (basically R with less weight and more aerodynamic bits.

Also what about British edition?

I want that car in a game so bad. I really wish they'd make a F-Type GT3. :(
