I cant thank everyone enough for today, it ran so smoothly! Really good racing guys, cya next week!!

Excellent pictures Sumo!

I'm going to have a quick run on SSR5 to see what kind of times I can hit! I think the racing could be just as close on this track, it has a good slipstreaming opportunity!

i wish i had a replay of the race, who was the black supra? he must have disappeared from the top after a while? since i forgot him? ^^

Nice pic sumo :) only missing GTP_Racing, i guess he was ahead?

That was me :guilty:. Had a decent start with a 5th place qualifying lap. Moved up to 3rd during the first or second lap in part because of a not so clean pass on xNikodemusx (I think, and sorry if so). Held third for about two or three laps. A pack of three caught up to me, got a very slight bump from 4th that put me wide and the whole pack passed me putting me in 6th. I stayed in 6th for the next ten laps or so in close pursuit of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th place pack.

Edit:
Just watched the replay. Sorry Niko! In the last corner on the first lap I was attempting to go inside on you. I'm guessing you didn't see me because you turned inside and almost ran me into the pit haha. That's how I ended up swerving, clipping some grass, and drifting right in front of you to cut you off. So sorry. That was too careless of me. Also, I was in 4th place up until about lap 17 or 18 when I pitted. I think my pitting strategy (or lack thereof) killed me lol.

At this point I had a few really good battles, but it all fell apart when my tires went. I probably should have pitted earlier. I was waiting for the pack I was casing to pit though. I messed up my pit entry and crashed a bit haha. That put me out of reach of the pack I was chasing and Miizzoo caught me.

Miizzoo and I had a good battle for three laps we were exchanging position. There were a few corners where my braking wasn't the best and he would gain a lot of time on me (the first and last corners mainly), and that's where he made his move. I was able to reclaim position from him in the technical section, where I made very clean passes with no contact.

I have a question actually. I was probably just driving too slow, but several times I was passed on the inside with a lot of contact (late braking, wedging themselves in and pushing me outside to make the pass). The passing cars were probably faster than me on the corner where they made the pass. In such a case, am I in the wrong for sticking to the racing line and blocking them from passing in the corner?

I lost one more position on the last lap to put me in 8th I think. Great race with great drivers. Thanks to everyone.

PS: Am I able to switch cars at this point? I'd like to go with an AWD like the 3000GT or Skyline. The original post doesn't say you have to use the same car for the entire season (although I get the feeling that's what was intended).

@Nastradamus87
BTW, the skylines allowed are RWD, like mine... Also, the guy infront picks the racing line, unless someone is along side you neck and neck.

Love the second banner style one!

I like the last pic as well. :)

It was so suspenseful I can't quite remember everything that happened. I'll have to watch the replay at some point, that means I can watch this epic battle for 3rd I've been hearing about! :D

The race was so intense so i have forgotten much of what happened in the start but it's coming back to me when hearing some bits of it ^^ But yeah no i had no idea you were there sorry.. but i think i did some pretty dirty moves in the beginning aswell, i tried to give the places back every time though, hope i didn't upset anyone. I wish i could watch the replay, would be fun to see but i forgot to save, is there any way to get a replay from anyone else?

Edit: Lotus, i think you've done wrong in the standings, gtp_racing most definitely didn't drive a supra? otherwise good job organizing everything and nice pictures of the race!

Phouchg
is there any way to get a replay from anyone else?

You can export replay data from GT5. I presume you can then put it on a flash drive and send it through an E-mail or something similar.

Cool, i would be really happy if someone could send me the replay. If it isn't too much of an inconvenience.

Sounds good then i will have an interesting race to see this Sunday as well, while waiting for the formula1 to start next weekend.

The mistake has been corrected. The reason it displayed Supra is because this was the original car that GTP_Racing chose to race in, it was simply an oversight while the points, cars and standing were updated.

It may also be an idea to reiterate the fact that you may make one change of car during the 5 race season, the usage of cars will be monitored and the use of multiple cars (more than the limit) throughout the season will be heavily frowned upon. Regular changes not only makes it difficult to recognise players but it also adds difficulty for the organisers when recording points and displaying information.

After some brief testing on SSR5 it looks like we'll be running 18 laps, making for a similar length race to the first. This is on the basis that an average lap time is around 1:50.000.

Just thought i'd point it out so you could change it :)

So one change, that mean if i change my car i can't change back right? (not that i want to change but always good to know the rules)

Define Classic...

You could consider the FC's and R32's to be classics technically, but I have been into the Japanese classic car scene and I am just telling you guys that noone would consider those cars you are racing as Japanese classics.

I got excited when I opened this thread because I thought it was going to be Bluebirds, really old Skylines, and Toyota's etc, then I see all those more modern cars.

The Classic Car Club of America maintains that a car must be between 20 and 45 years old to be a classic, while cars over 45 years fall into the Antique Class.

Well the cars we're driving can be considered "modern classics", which still makes them classics in my eyes (the best kind of classic at that, with them all being sports cars built in the 80s and 90s). Also most of us in this series are from Europe rather than America. :P

It wasn't really our goal when creating this series to define the classic Japanese sports car, merely to race what may be called the definitive Japanese sports car. But that doesn't sound good does it? The Definitive Japanese Car Racing Series. How about the 'Quintessentially Japanese Sports Car Cup' or the 'Epitome of Japanese Sports Cars Championship'. We can't be too specific, and 'classic' isn't such a 'snooty' word.

Originally we were testing the cars that 'The Classic Car Club of America' would class as classic, but Gran Turismo has over 1000 cars. We're hardly going to exclude cars just because they're a not old enough. And really, 11 years should be enough for some cars to prove themselves.

I'm sorry if we don't meet your definition of 'classic'.

Race was awesome. I had to quit, real life guests, but i was running really slow in last place.

The combination of really understeery tire eating prelude, mediocre driving and my girlfriend at the telephone during qualification was impossible to overcome.

Still some nice battles during the first laps until my front tires burned

I chose my car purely from looks, and since i love the look of the prelude i thought about using it, I probably wouldn't have been as high up if i did, lucky me :P
