If you work there your times don't get put on the leader board.

I'm friends with people that work at one place.
They currently hold the best lap of the month and another holds the track record for all time.
Another currently has second best lap of the week.

This is just for fun, not looking for it to "get me anywhere".

I assumed so.
It's always good fun, but once you start blowing everyone out of the water, it gets boring.

I currently hold the 2nd fastest time on the group d karts at MSR houston after only the sixth try. 1:04.1, I challenge any of you to go beat that. :sly:

It pays to be skinny.

Here's a tip for K1. Print out buy 1 get 1 free coupons and cut off the expiration date. They always accept it.

I admit, some of my best experiences racing have been indoors. Nothing beats hooking up with one of the faster guys starting from the back of the pack in a league race and work your way up. Nose to tail the entire way. Only thing that beats that is with karts that go twice as fast, weigh half as much, and not handle like a pig. :sly: A bonus is if it's raining. :D

Any tops on keeping your back from getting sore? I have kind of a boney back so every time I go karting I end up with a sore back.

Thats a problem I have found when driving hire karts when the seat it far to big for you. I too have a boney back and when I drive hire karts my back ends up bruised to hell, however when you have a proper fitting seat it is no longer a problem, the place I go indoor has a few rubber inserts for seats so I grab one of them. Other things that you could do is get an old towel and put it behind your back (or if they don't allow that then just put it down the back of your shirt.)

The only way to completely fix it however is with a good fitting seat, anything else is just dampening the impact and delaying the pain.

I saw the layout. It looks awesome. But by your friends video, it looks like it doesn't go by any nice parts of the city. Is it just behind stores?

The whole race was contained within the grounds of Fair Park, so no real "city streets" But we did race around part of the cotton bowl, so that was pretty cool.

As mentioned the rubber inserts help.
You may also want to try finding a nice cheap rib protector designed for karting may also work.

Here is a pic from the weekend, the fact that the front wheel is in the air and I'm countersteering gives you an idea of the setup problems we were having.

Ugh, hope the you can fix that. Test day maybe?
Our season hasn't started yet, but we are probably going to go down before the official practice day and get her dialed in really nicely. Also going to be testing a new clutch.

That's bad. The bad thing about the new Intrepids is the middle of the chassis is pointing up kind of like a camel hump, so he front is bent down and hitting he track. We will get that bent back soon.

We think we have worked out what was causing it, if you look at how much my knees are bent you can see how straight they are compared to the shorter driver on the inside. Therefore my seat is to far back, thus less weight to keep the front down and more weight to act as a pendulum at the rear. I have emailed Tonykart to ask what is the default seat position to run at as after doing some research this seems to be what is suggested to run the seat as, and supposedly this can make a huge difference to handling and would be why our other setup changes would seem to be doing sod all.

And look luck with the test.

That's what happened to one of my friends. He had really bad handling issues (he runs CRG) ten they realized that they had put the wrong seat in. They put in the factory seat and everything was fine.

Of course.
'cause CRGs are perfect until you mess with them. :D

Ok, but if your knees are already bent then wouldn't moving the seat closer to the front make them even more bent? Of course if you're taller then the other guys your knees will be bent more than theirs.
And thanks.

Edit: *yawn* Birel is best kart. *yawn*

Birel is pretty much the only chassis that you run for 4-Stroke racing in Canada.
I don't know about for 2-Strokes though.

Intrepid, Praga, CRG, and OTK rule the roost. ;) But I have to admit, Intrepid's factory team sucks! they need to reconsider their driver lineup.

Well the big 3 are Birel, CRG, and Tony Kart.
It all depends on your region and what brands are popular there.

For 2 strokes we actually have a pretty good mix, but at nationals Intrepid puts a lot of money into that.
