If one thing it can be extract from this, is that polls in GTP are not a reliable source, not even in the little ecosistem of GTP citizens. Probably the lack of PD news and general negativism a few months back influenced the results. And probably the last general flow of good news, game updates and the close approach of Kaz to its fanbase influenced also this thread poll.

Conclusion. If GT7 at the release have more good than bads, only a minority will make a big deal about the standards except if they look specially bad and can be used as an amunition throw to express a general disappointment (in the case that GT7 would had more bad points than goods, or in the case of the official "always negative no matter what" individuals living in GTP).

Anyway, looking at how good some standarts looks in GT6, I'm sure that the possible worst looking cars would not be as noticeable in GT7 as they were in GT5-6 in contrast with the premiums.
These two polls asked two different questions. One was about whether you'll purchase GT7 with standards, the other was whether you'd be happy with standards in GT7. Not the same question and not mutually exclusive or contradictory. You can both not like standards in GT7 and still purchase the game so both polls could easily represent the GT fanbase accurately.

I myself am an example of this. I wasn't happy with standards being in GT6, so about 95% of my cars purchased are premiums, but I still bought the game.

Also there's photo travel if it's in GT7. IMO standards don't take a very good photograph. You have to mess about with a photo editing program something like photoshop to get anything decent.

Don't get me wrong, I want the standards to stay:tup: there's quite a few decent cars, but I think they are gonna cause more heartache for the majority of fans rather than entice them into playing more.

And on the Minecraft front, I haven't seen Microsoft using it to sell more Xbox. I didn't buy my Xbox (and dare say a majority of Xbox owners) because of Minecraft. I bought it for Forza 3.
Can't you get Minecraft on the PSN now?

I can't see Sony using adverts on TV or whatever media selling a PS4 bundled with GT7 showing a standard car in all it's glory.

IMO - Standard cars = Great for personal gameplay but nothing else. They're not a selling point for GT7.

You are all going to miss so many standards when they are going to be excluded!

Comments like this make me wonder how some of you lot survive in life when things are taken away from you.

That's kinda true, but I wouldn't say all. About 90% (give and take a few) Hardcore GT fans will get GT7 regardless and most will just moan over the fact that standards are still there and vice/verse.

To be fair having things taken away from you is very different to being asked whether or not you want things to stay.

Some hot Gran Turismo 7 gameplay right here.

I think most fans wouldn't care about the standards/premiums if the rest of the game is updated (Sounds, AI, Career mode...)

Never saw codemasters call Autosport 'The Real Driving simulator'

And according to the work of the OP on this post (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gran-turismo-6-has-434-cars.289991/) GT6 has 434 unique cars (which is what matters really).

It doesn't matter, as Imari said it's 2014 and your telling me a team of 500 people couldn't make 73 cars with interiors?

Oh and that post is BS as it's pointed out many many times in the thread itself. The person who made it even took down his list.

I agree. There's not.

There's also no reason for what is almost certainly the racing game with the highest budget ever to have 80% of it's cars without interiors. But we saw that in GT5, and then ~65% in GT6.

Also, I cut Polyphony no breaks for their low amount of staff. They are small by choice, and they live and die with the restrictions that forces on them. If they choose to only employ 150 people with their $60+ million dollar budget, that's their call.

Presumably they think it will result in a superior product. I am yet to be convinced of this. When making a game on the scale of Gran Turismo, there's only so much one person (or 150) can do. Either the game gets cut down to suit the size of the staff, or the quality suffers.

How do you know the budget for GT6?

Don't get me wrong, PDs small size is my biggest issue with them and I think they need to be at least twice the size they are now. But I wasn't saying that to defend PD so much as to condemn Codemasters. As I said 100% no reason why a team that big couldn't give interiors to 73 cars.

The emphasis in GAS is gameplay...aka racing...and it is stellar, white knuckle, kink in the shoulders stuff. It is hands down the best offline racing I've ever had. The AI are extremely fast and on pace in identical equipment, no nerfing or downgrading necessary. Just like in real racing, if you qualify and then move up 2 spots in the race, you've really achieved something and it feels that way. CM never pretended the focus was on graphics or quantity of cars or physics for that matter, they've made it perfectly clear from the beginning. You evaluate a game based on what they say they are going to do and how well they achieve it, same as for GT, Forza, PCars etc. If all I cared about was graphics and car selection I wouldn't have bought the game.

That's super duper interesting...but not really related to what we're talking about.

I think you know my opinion on the matter. :D I'll side with the 60%+/-

I hope you guys get all the bile out of your system, because I'd really prefer to see a SANE, livable GT Planet in the coming months. Not a place full of emotional tripwire.

This is getting ridiculous at this point... PS2 quality cars in a PS4 game? The standard cars look horrid and there's no getting around it... the quality of this game is all over the place. Some of the car models were lifted from GT3 meaning they'll probably be 15+ years old by the time GT7 comes out. They need to get rid of the duplicates, choose 200-300 of the standards, make them premium, and get rid of the rest of the garbage.

So fans won't care about a flaw in the game if it has redeeming features? isn't it easier to remove the flaw?

According to a many people it isn't a flaw. It's much more complex than you're making it out to be.

According to roughly 80% of arguably a biased website it is a flaw. If you consider putting 2 generations old assets in a game as not a flaw then that's your opinion and not one shared by the majority.

You're going to have to spell that one out for me.

How do standard cars and tracks make it so that more staff would end up with less content? Is there some restriction that only companies with 150 employees or less can use last gen content? As far as I can tell, a company with 300 employees can make a game with exactly the same amount of content as one with 150 employees, and then they have the option of making the other 150 people make content too.

I answered your question.

Youre new question is different. Companies like Ubisoft can make a game like Watch Dogs.

The bottom line here is that standards are ugly to some. To try and turn this into a 'right' or 'wrong' question is presumptious. Stick to issues of the game and not the issues of the company. I cant and wont debate anything other than the game itself. Sorry.

I think he made a good choice, I don't like standards that much but I appreciate the variety in the game (especially when you put cars that are quite underrated, there's a sense of quirkiness and uniqueness from some of the cars). The one thing I'm hoping for them to do is to at least clean the other standards (like what they did to the RUF's) :D I'm fine with that

Yes sound, livery editor, AI, etc. NEEDS to be addressed, they are sub par just like standard cars so that's a whole different issue that should be addressed regardless of standard cars. Being ok with standards just because they fixed other issues would be like getting a BRAND NEW Ferrari with a rusted beat up paint job, dents and scratches. Hey it handles and sounds great though so who cares! If they make a great livery editor, great AI, career etc. that still doesn't excuse using 🤬 10+ year old PS2 cars in a PS4 game that's capable of pushing photo realistic graphics. Its insane that using PS2 assets is EVEN CONSIDERED for PS4.

Or they could do this magical thing called outsourcing. But then again, Kaz is far too stubborn for that.
Outsourcing isn't a magic bullet with no issues. Anyone who has painted a car in Forza will know what I mean. For those that don't, decals that morf or have weird quirks for seemingly no reason - just painted a car with this issue, vinyls inverting or displaying backwards, surfaces that won't work at all, you name it. Then again, T10 may have done the same thing themselves...

But at the very least, you need tight quality control, or things may not be right. In house always works best.

To be honest PD needs to outsource car modelling. They are among the best when it comes to modelling but it's not like they are the only company that can accurately recreate a car.

At the very least, they should outsource the updating of the standard cars. Even though, IMO this semi-premium thing is a waste of time except in a couple of cases, since even the semi-premiums will need complete remodeling to become fully premium.

What's the point of adding all those standards (a lot of them duplicates and cars that 98% of people won´t miss), then wasting time upgrading them to the so called semi-premium quality, where they'll still lack an interior, customization options etc... Especially when you've already got a large number (500+) of high quality cars.

I know some of my favorite cars will be gone (like they'll make the ´98 Taurus a premium) but that's the way it goes, and like they did it in GT3 (you know, the best selling and highly acclaimed GT game).
