For many of us it is (supposed to be) THE game. And it's basically incomplete, smaller (less races/events) than GT4, online sucks, and these seasonals, as strange as may sound, were the best thing at keeping it going.

Sure, I can make many challenges like those by myself, but it's kinda not the purpose of having a game.

Please note, as far as a driving experience/simulator it is the best. Many times I drive just for the fun of it, even if I don't have a purpose/event to beat.

But this is less of a game than it ever was.

And the lack of info (still no news or new tweets at the moment) is painful.

(see what I did? That last sentence kept me on topic...)

Meanwhile...

そう思う。RT @timppaq: @Kaz_Yamauchi Hopefully we'll get the penalty system for cutting track & hitting walls updated asap for all the tracks!!

I think so. RT @ timppaq: @ Kaz_Yamauchi Hopefully we'll get the penalty system for cutting track & hitting walls updated asap for all the tracks!!
Could anyone share a human translation of this?

Thank GOD! GT5P had a pretty strict system so I do not understand why they don't just port that over. I rather have over strict than this. Or even better just increase the realism of the curbs and make them more slippery and jolting.

PD was never able to figure out the difference between intentional contact from the individual or when the individual was contacted.

That penalty system in Prologue ruined the game for me. When I unintentionaly skid off the track and was slowed down as well as losing my position and given a penalty was way overboard. If they do put a penalty system like that in GT5 then I wont update. If they only add it for online races only then I will update though because its only fair to have it for online to stop cheaters but I dont want it in single player.

"Just a game". Well, depends on how you look at it and how much you are invested financially.

I know from RC racing, I had a whole more fun when i started buying high end stock motors, high output battery packs, high speed micro servos, assorted tires and, different spring oil combos. Of course going from a Tamiya Grasshopper to a Frog to a Schumacher Cat finally to a Team Losi JRX2 added to the fun.

JRX-2! Hey you were Racing the same time I was. I loved my JRX-2! I still have it but fear playing with it incase I break something.

I know I see this as more like a Hobby then a game. Especialy when you start throwing down for a wheel and racing seat and stuff. But think of Poliphony as being the surley bastard at the hobby Shop. He'll eventualy get off his stool and get you what you want, but on his own time.

Just now:

2月中旬にアップデートされます。RT @rojn8r: @Kaz_Yamauchi when will the next GT5 update be available?

Google: "Will be updated in mid-February."

edit: beat me to it ;)

edit2: Something new again, but unrelated to GT5.

A couple of new tweets up. Would anybody who speaks Japanese care to post a proper translation?

Through Google:
You're right. RT @ toarco_llecter : @ Kaz_Yamauchi仰る意味は非常によくわかりますが『秘するが花』かと。 RT @ Toarco_Llecter : @ Kaz_Yamauchi understand the meaning .. looking very well, but the flowers [] secret, either.

What?

Is this supposed to be a dirty message? :odd:

Someone teach this guy some english.

I nominate you. First, you'll need to learn Japanese.
Notwithstanding the fact that Kaz understands English pretty well anyway. It's his personal twitter account, so he has every right to stick to Japanese.

仰る意味は非常によくわかりますが『秘するが花』かと。
Google (from above) understand the meaning .. looking very well, but the flowers [] secret, either.

Babelfish would like to offer the following translation, where it picks up the quotation marks:
The meaning of saying it is well understood very, but 'it conceals, but whether the flower'.

Kaz tweeted something about cheating in sumo-wrestling, and this guy replied. :boggled:

Point taken. Now I'll just go and learn how to read PS3 code so that I can just look at a Matrixy code instead of playing through a TV and controller.

Back on topic. :)

No new tweets for a while, he must be a busy man working on the mid-feb update. Has anybody been able to properly translate the flower comment yet?

It's something to do with the petals being used to masquerade the true beauty hidden inside.

Maybe....he was just looking at flowers that day? I don't think we should see it as commentary on trackside flowers.

i was so close... i had guess 16th

anybody have any idea what this "PP Scheme" for GT is?? it's being mentioned in the tweets. Something about kaz being sorry for the wait on its implementation

From what I read the PP system is also supposed to come back on next update.
But I hope the update will be more than just this and that B-spec GT anywhere thing.

I can't express how pleased I am that a PP system will make it return in GT5. Finally. One of the biggest issues on line is being able to match up different cars with some degree of parity. And this will go a long way in helping to make racing much more interesting.

EDIT: The PP system in Prologue basically assigned a number to every car in your garage. Depending on what changes you made to the car, the number went up or down. The races on line, for example, might feature a lobby of 550PP. You could then make adjustment to the cars, such as changing to a more aggressive tire, lower the weight, etc, which would affect this number. The system was far from perfect and it obviously changes depending on the track. But the system allows you to equalize the cars in a much more sophisticated manner than simple power/weight ratio. And I'm sure they can continue to update and refine it.

Couldn't agree more. Will breath new life into the game for me.

I really hope that stricter restrictions will be added to the online play, such as no race cars, RM, powertrain type, brand type, years and so on!
