On another note that video that was posted was hilarious and so true.

I'm downloading the demo as well.

I also bought and downloaded the Burnout Paradise Party Pack and the LittleBigPlanet Valentine's Day Level Pack as well.

Thanks for the heads up, just finished downloading it. I was expecting heavy DL traffic considering all the hype over this game, but it only took 50 minutes to download, which is a little over 3 Mb/s. 👍

I am skipping on the demo. I just want to cream my boxer shorts once I get FULL game.

By the way is demo Single play or Multiplayer?

Got the Demo, expect Fanboy explosions accross the net. I never got onto the the beta so this was my first taste of killzone, it sucseeds the hype and I've tried my best to find fault with the most critical eye but all I can find is the demo is too short and won't let me turn up the difficulty plus it's single player only...........well I did say I tried my best to find fault LOL

Ive downloaded the Demo and installed but my mother has decided to to commandeer the TV so she can watch Home and Away:grumpy:

Will give my impressions Later.

I know the feeling Sprite, downloaded and installed but I will have to wait for the kids to go to bed and my wife to fall asleep before I can give it a good go.

Geez, by the time you guys get to it I will be home from work, downloaded it, and finished.

I am in that happy medium with a wife and no kids.

I had ago at basicly running through it as fast as I could, 8:30ish........You can stretch it out by going for headshots and the like which will run you up to 15 mins, I supose I'll even try and do it with the pistol only at some point LOL It is very short, or rather it's so imersive it seems like it takes a couple of mins, allowing you to up the dificulty level would have helped or giving us a multiplayer level.........Anyway it dose what it suposed to do, it makes you want MORE! Oh yeah theres a secret weapon, you need to go look for it though, I won't say anymore as not to spoil it.
Seems layout 2 is the prefared control layout which is more similar to COD4 also I found uping the x and y axis a few clicks in the options made things a little more fluid. Have to prais the cover system as it's hte first system since R6V that feels natural to use.

Oh yeah I'm going to be the first to say it on GTp.........Halo's dead, long live Killzone 2

Finaly The daddy COD4.......Killzone 2 from what I've seen so far could just topple it from it's top spot as long as the MP side of things shines (the beta guys will have a better idea of this) It's a close one but KZ2 could just be the new game to have, if thats the case and with GT5 due towards the end of the year the PS3 looks to have a growing number of console selling titles

Well I had a quick go and all I can say is Im glad Im not buying this game, typical FPS. Im not wholly impressed with the graphics, they are ok but nothing special, don't get me wrong the lighting is very nice and the particle and volume effects are nice, but polygon count isn't anything special and also the textures are pretty substandard in parts.

As for gameplay, AI is limited and not very clever at all, they try and out flank you but end up changing their mind and going back the way they came, they do take cover, but panic when grenades are launched towards them, but I guess they are just panicking like a person would. playing the levels are too linear, they start and come from the same positions every time, completing the game is just a matter of play, die repeat etc.

Overall not that impressive for me, defiantly not making me want to play another FPS.

The statement above is my own opinion so all you flamers and fanboys can ignore my post ;)

Or challenge us in some Hot Shots Golf! ;)

BTW: I see the Jurassic Island course finally became available... at least in the Euro PSN stores. :indiff:

Have to say I am impressed so far, very good visceral feeling with the game, but to be honest the demo is only there to whet the appetite, its more a teaser than a demo lol.

You have prety much got an oposite opinion on this game than 99% of the posts I've read on various forums. graphics are "nothing special" with "substandard textures"........and the AI is "limited"......WOW! Not a FPS fan I take it LOL

Yeah I dare say this game is as good look as GT5p... maybe... around here that is not the best statement to make but damn this game looks good. My favorite part of the demo is that when you fire a gun in an open area it echos but when you are in a closed space it just bangs. Also the explosions are amazing. The level of detail is just mind boggling.

I think it's a really good FPS, the cover system is very well done, the sounds are amazing and the overall feel of the game is very cool. as for the comment about the graphics, i aggree. With all due respect the graphics remind me of BF:BC. The lighting is much better but i can notice some grain(not as much as BF, but a small amount)..I'm not going to nitpick though. It is after all a demo version of a pretty early build so regardless i'm sure i will spend many hours on this game when it is released.

I am really impressed by the demo. The graphics are *very* nice. Sound effects are very cool to. The whole thing reminded me a lot of the havoc in the CoD games.

@Sprite: If you don't think the graphics are special, I'd like to know what are you comparing it with? So far I haven't seen anything look better on the PS3. I especially like the fact there appears to be more AA, makes things look really smooth compared to other shooters.

I do agree about the AI though, when my buddy was hacking the door, I hid right behind him. The hellghast downstairs didn't move up the stairs and through the door, even after I've unloaded a clip on them and gave away our position. I had to come for them. Which I did ofcourse. ;)

I think I'll be getting this one when it gets out. :)

Well, I sent the wife to walk the dog and played for a few minutes last night. I'm ashamed to admit I couldn't find a way to get on the lift.... and then the dog came to say "hello" and I had to switch off.

I am a FPS fan, although I don't tend to like games set around real events like WWII, it just doesn't seem right somehow... anyway....

I did like this game a lot, the graphics, sound and game-play really get you into the game. I even found the controls didn't make me miss my mouse and keyboard (is it mouse and keyboard compatible?). I think MGS4 still feels better somehow, when you're walking through a battlefield but, in my opinion, you can't compare the games as Killzone seems to be more FPS, whereas MGS4 is.... well MGS4.

The graphics are much better than Resistance 1, although I still enjoy Resistance 1 and I found the controls better in Killzone for aiming and shooting.

I think I'll still buy Resistance 2, but Killzone 2 has now made it on to my list (I hadn't read any of the hype until I downloaded the demo yesterday).

My one complaint is the language. I don't know if you can turn it off, but I don't appreciate the F word being used so much. It doesn't add anything to the game but it does mean I can't play it on the speakers when kids could hear.

Had a good few plays through the demo last night and here are my thoughts.

Graphics
Simply amazing, the use of real time lighting for every light source gives a stunning effect to the levels in question, and the degree of detail present is very high indeed.

Personally I don't have an issue with the textures at all, given the amount going on at once the range and level of detail in them is superb. A comparison was made to BF:BC (a game I love and have played a lot), but personally I don't think they are in the same league. The range of textures in BF:BC are extremely low as is the detail, to the point of almost looking cartoon like at times. KZ2 certainly doesn't fit that description.

A good level of destruction can be dealt to the environments, not to the same degree as BF:BC, but far more than the likes of CoD. A good place to play around with this is the last room you clear (before you go through the door that finishes the demo). Plenty of stuff is around that you can shoot up, filling cabinets can be filled with bullet holes (and the drawers pop open and closed with the force of the impact). Gas cylinders can be shot, with the first shot popping a hole in them and the second shot igniting them, walls show the impact of damage well in addition, with the particle physics shown off very well as the dust from the impact rises and then dissipates.

Simply put, I personally don't think that KZ2 has a match for visuals in terms of any other PS3 title.

Sound
The sound design was stunning on the beta and remains so here, with a descent home cinema it is truly immerse, with spot sound effects perfectly placed.

Anyone who has not yet invested in Home Cinema, this game is just the excuse you need to do so, it does seriously make a huge difference.

Controls

I must admit to a little bit of an advantage here, as I took part in both beta's and so have got quite used to the control layout. At least the range is good, but I for one like the standard control set-up.

I also like the weight that movement has, as I find it does give you feeling of being a person, lugging around a lot of kit and it slowing you down.

The cover feature (which is not a part of the on-line) works wonderfully well, which for me is great news, as a first-person cover system had me a bit worried. No need to do so however as it works very, very well in my opinion.

AI
Given that this is the first part of the game and on one of the lower difficulty levels I think the AI still manages to outclass anything else I've come across in a shooter. These guys actually seem to have a sense of self preservation, Sprite mentioned running away from grenades almost as a negative, I see it as a sign of a strong AI, after all I think that's what most of us would do.

The start points for them is scripted (as it is in almost every shooter), but once on the map they do react to what you do and will try and move to take advantage of cover and firing positions. Yes they are easy to take out, but as I already mentioned, this is the first level and one of the lowest difficulty levels.

Overall
I'm a big fan of FPS and shooters in general and as such have had this on pre-order for a while, and I'm glad that's the case. The beta was a big selling point for me and I have to say this demo has just re-enforced that.

Simply put no other shooter I have played has had me looking forward to its release as much.

Its up on the US store too, I saw it today while downloading the snowboarding vids.

Back to subject.

I replayed the Demo of KZ2 today and I must admit its grown on me, The demo was a bit on the short side and second go through was very easy, if im totally honest with myself and my fellow gamers I did go into KZ2 with the preconceptions that it was just another FPS, but the cover system (which I figured out this time around) works really well and provides that all important breathing space and also allows for more accurate headshots. when the old man gets this at launch I will give a serious going over.

i was very impressed with the demo (i'll probably buy the game once it comes out, for sure).
does anyone know if the demo resolution and the game resolution are going to be the same?
i know this may sound like a silly question, but my TV has some overscan problems, but in the demo NOTHING was cut off (I was so happy!)
I just want to be certain before I head out and buy the game once it comes out..

when is the demo going to be available for the US to download? I tried checking last night but couldn't find it. :indiff:

The demo will hit the PSN the day it is released, the only way to get access earlier is to pre-order it from Gamestop i just found.

Set-up an EU account and download it from our store; I've done the same to get stuff from the US store.

Played the demo twice in 1 day!
Looks awesome gameplay is realistic in the way its clunky like you would be carrying the gun armour all your kit.Great graphics of course better than COD5? im not sure but up there with COD anyway and if the online turns out to be any good could see killzone take over.
Good storyline the first game was fun and now this on PS3 is just 'freakin awesome'.

COD5? No such game... ;)

Nice DEMO review guys!

Im still waiting not for my demo, but full game.

oi

Just few weeks to go!

Played the demo and it rocks. The controls are difficult though. No FPS will have controls as friendly as call of duty 4, imo. You can get close with the alternate setting, but then the aiming itself is also weird, slow, and variably fast. It's just something to get used to.
