La Sarthe and Spa ,weather report and other " stuff "

Has anyone tried to win the race with the Stingray '59?

I haven't been successful so far, the car is so fast but difficult to control.
I did didn't get even half way past the first lap before quitting the race that car is horrible in so many ways handling being the main issue.

IMHO its 1 of the worst cars in the game and not worth the 4M price tag.

This car is a rocket! need to brake soo early at the end of the Mulsanne

I am completly immersed in my R5 Turbo custom grid at the moment, so I have no time left for the Le mans race, but the thing with the Stingray '59 sounds intersting...I'll give it try in the next days

I have this and will give it a go.... reports soon

At what level of difficulty ?
Never ride one but certainly they are cars that can win at easy or normal but is hard for hard level especially if race is dry
At hard level needed laps close to 4.15 and 3 laps on fuel tank otherwise you're in trouble.

I took this challenge to see if the Stingray is up for a run at LeMans.

I tried it as stock settings and with non-permanent mods to get the power up and I was all over the track and was worse in the rain.
I looked up the tuning setup from Priano's and the suspension setting there made this car stable but it is like a freight train when you need to hit the brakes, you need to brake early and not lock it up for best results. I with the low power supercharger I had 4 laps at FM6. My setup is below.

Not a bad car, and I will have to disagree with @Chikane_GTR that it's not the worst car in the game.

Ok ,since i have a ready tune ill try it also.
Impressions tomorrow morning, hope "Billionaire" to have wrong and not enter to spin city with it.

Edit
Worst car i ever met,was Art Morrison corvette C60 ( tuned ) at gt6 .
He couldn't follow a straight line at whatever gear you was on 😂
His job was only to burn rubber ,other than that , nothing.

@jrbabbitt My post and mind about this car still stands as its what I experienced when I took that car to le man a few months ago.👍

But I'll give your setup a try and see if it changes my mind about this vette.👍

Today noon i experienced a very unlucky plus a very weird race with stingray .
Just copy @jrbabbitt tune and start the race

I choose RM instead of RH which wasn't a good idea .
Anyway ,during lap 2 i realise a heavy rain coming, went at the pits for intermediate tyres and fuel.
Torrential rain hit the track and lead me to very conservative race with laps over 5 minutes😱
The track was drying quick and enter the pits for RH tyres on lap 4 .
Set the FM at 1 ,manual gears and again was bad idea , spun off 3 times and lost the brakes at end of mulsane .
Last lap at finish straight, pause the game to shoot a pick and ....... I restart the race , 825k waisted on one click🤐

I was soooooo pissed off but i start right away another race.
Rain hit at same lap, pit bla bla bla but the track never dry out to put dry tyres again .
The weird thing was thas i pass a car during lap 4 !!!! and i watch the replay to see why .

Here is why , i still don't believe it

The guy started again on 8.33 !!!
Now tell me , can you do that ?

As about the car :
Hates rain
You brake yesterday to stop today.

I gave that Stingray a try...

Used that tune:
sting tune 1.jpg

sting tune 2.jpg

Knowing that the Car is really tail happy and not easy to control, I got the LSD and did some minor changes to make it more stable, but also a bit understeary...

It is really fast, but all rules that apply to older cars are even more important here...

No late breaking, coast into corners, no accelerating while still turning in...be gentle and patient, this car doesn't like quick movements at all...
Adapt your breaking points and your breaking habits...where i usually use the 100m board as a breaking marker, I liftet at 200m and started to break(gently) at the 150m board, sometimes even earlier...
And don't put the foot(or the finger) on the throttle until you face exactly in the direction you actually wanna go ;)

Fuel: You need FM6 to get safe 3 laps and FM2 to get safe 2 laps...

The car hates its tyres in general, and the one on the left rear side in particular...
Here you can see, what the tire situation for RMs was after two laps:
stingray tires.jpg

(so that is another reason to drive this car as soft and gentle as possible...

The race and the weather: Started to rain at the end of lap2(switched to IMs), heavy rain in lap 3, wet roads in lap 3 and 4(for a short moment even in top third of the rain meter), but dryed up real quick in lap 5, lap 6 and 7 mostly dry
I started lap 5 with alomst perfect IMs, by the end of that lap, the IMs looked worse then the RMs in the pic above, the left rear tyre was completly gone, the car was very hard to control in the last 2 corners before the pits...

To my suprise the race ended after lap 6...(bacause the two wet laps were so slow)

Did two time trial laps afterwards with same conditions as in the race and made a 4.16 and a 4.17 lap on FM2...so yes, this car will also win in a completly dry race...

@Batschisane52 on RH FM6 my faster lap was the first one at 4.16 at second race ,that means without rain and careful drive probably, very very probably, might win and at hard level but not in my hands 🤣
Tomorrow ill try @bigmull Porsche " tin " car .
Hope to have better luck than stingray.

I almost always play medium level...I was 10 seconds behind Portilla after the 2 dry laps and before I pitted(with enough fuel for a third lap-although that third lap would have been a tricky one because of the tyre situation)...on a dry race that is usually enough to win when I do a 3-2-2 strategy with FM1 or two 2 on the remeining four laps...

I opted for RMs, because this car is already that quirky and I guess the RHs would have driven me insane

As I said that car is horrible no matter the setup and with a million other better cars for this race.

I stand by my statement about that 59 Vette.👍
The car is not easy to drive, if it is "better" depends on what you expect from this race...

If you are there for a quick 800 000credits, than there many cars that are "better", if you are there for a challenge, this car is quite good...

A challenge in which why?

Trying to win with such a bad handling car. Or
Trying to win a race that's super easy especially if it rains.

Trying to win with a bad handling car with terrible brakes and inacceptable tyre wear...bit it needs to stay dry for seven laps to get full experience...

You are ok with me on your opinion, i drive differently and more conservatively and that will cloud my opinions abiout this and other cars.
i like the challenging "hard to handle" cars to see if my skills and driving styles can tame the beast in those cars.

Used a maxed out E-Type yesterday. Car feels much too wonky with stock settings. Tried @bigmull 's tune but with that the car didn't want to corner anymore. So I tried to find my own tune. It was ok but not great. Rain at the end of lap 2 and I switched to inters. 2 laps of heavy rain, then it dried up. At the end of lap 5 the tires were dead and I had to pit again. Still won with a lead of 20 seconds but overall it wasn't the best experience.

Odd, I tried it last night and it was fine.Do make sure you use the latest tune for it.

I used the second one you posted. Maybe it's because you have weight reduction stage 3 and I just have 1? Could this be a factor? It felt very understeery and also was quick to spin.

BTW: Do you use a controller or a wheel? Could that make a difference also?

Today I drove the engine swapped Alfa C4. Great car! Powerful, fuel efficient, easy to handle, great sound! But there's one big con: Even on a (slightly) wet track Inters are gone after two laps. So there's no way to do 4 laps on Inters unless you want to slide around for two laps. This was on stock settings though, so I guess you can get better results here with tuning.

After that I tried the Toyota I got for free for watching the finals.
It's a good car for this race. Very efficient (4laps on FM1), good acceleration, great corner speeds. Not very fast (270 max) but very easy to drive.
A solid choice for this race, but also a rather boring one.

Weight is definitly a factor when it comes to breaking and fuel consumption...
