La Sarthe and Spa ,weather report and other " stuff "

For my first race today I used a fully upgraded Scirocco. Also a really nice and easy to drive car.

1000010303.png

Started on FM4 which seems to be fine for 3 laps without any management. Rain started at the end of 2nd lap, I got IMs. Heavy rain at laps 3&4, got a bit lighter at lap 5 and stopped at lap 6.
Car drives well on wet track also, no problems beside a lot of wheel spin.
Overlapped all other cars at lap 5 and called it quits after lap 6.

Next was the Clio V6, also fully upgraded.
Doesn't feel incredibly powerful or fast, but it's ok.

Again started on FM4 and again this should give almost exactly 3 laps without any fuel management. But also again I couldn't do three laps 'cause radar showed heavy rain coming up at the end of lap 2. And heavy it was! Cars spinning out and crashing all over the track at third lap. But rain stopped quickly and the sun came out again.
The Clio is ok to drive. Suspension is a bit soft on default settings and the car likes to slide a bit in corners, but it's not too bad. UNTIL the tires wear down. Which happened pretty fast once the rain was over. With dead tires (and a still slightly wet track) you have to be really careful with this car. I lost it three(!) times at the last two laps so I was glad to end the race after 6 rounds.

I'm really starting to get annoyed by the weather lately. I feel like 90% of my races I can just do 2 laps before I have to pit. That's not random, that's boredom. Give me some dry races pls, give me some with rain from the start, give me some where rain starts at laps 6 or 7! Just not always the same.

BTW: What are those guys doing? They're staring at the inside of the box and both look like they have to take a 💩 😄

Just ran a race with my fully-upgraded 1500 BAT. Easy win because of the rain. Car is a bit slow, but hits 160 mph and gets over 3.5 laps on fuel. All on FM1. Just try to brake in a straight line.

Here’s the tune:
I have to try out the BAT. I bought one the other day and just maxxed out all of the engine parts. Need to finish it up it is a fun car to drive

I have a fun challenge if anyone is interested.

What about winning on a budget? Ok this is how it works I'll start by setting a budget which you cant go pass which includes buying the car and the upgrades.

Your budget is 40,000K Credits - This includes the price of the car and upgrades you CANNOT go pass this limit or you'll be disqualify.

Rules are simple.

1. Must buy a car you cant use 1 from your garage.
2. You cant go pass the credit limit.
3. IM or Wet tires are free and don't count but you can only buy 1 Set.
4. To be it fair please show your build and final credit amount.

:)
Clarification: Can we use parts/engines gifted?

Clarification: Can we use parts/engines gifted?
The rule says 40.000k for car plus tyres and what's left of them for anything you like .
If it's about using gifted parts then its not a challenge at all.
It's just a bad joke or at least that how it's sounds.

I wonder what car that might be to win that cost lower than 23-22k plus the tyres .
After a quick look at lower price cars
I bet everything i have, that under those rules there isn't such a car to win at any level of difficulty in that race .
Its more likely to go on a date with Ana de armas for Christmas dinner than find a car for that challenge.
Numbers, can't fit anywhere in every aspect.

No engine swap gifted or not against the rules.👍

Also as suggested RH and IM or Wets are not gonna be added to the 40K.

So RH are free and your choice of IM or Wets.

RM,RS, are not allow as they'll add to the 40K.
I think all that still is incomplete.
First of all must be a car that everyone can buy ( after doing some research) .
That means must be on a brand central and not at usd that you have to wait for a circle to come back again .
And as you wrote, someone Must buy it and not from the garage.
So this stage in still unclear while it should be .

And suppose it is from brand central and with the clarification that the tyres are free both , only Chevy camaro SS16 can do it ( not that ill try it ) cause have significant power over the other low price cars and you don't have to buy gearbox to adjust top end speed .
You cant have car , power and gearbox ( to put power on the road ) with 40k .
I wouldn't look any further than SS16 , if he can't do it , none other can do it except if i miss something but i think i don't.

Here are your most likely candidates from BC:

Chevrolet Camaro SS - Cr.35000 @ 550.53 PP
Volkswagen Polo GTI - Cr.28000 @ 443.75 PP
Mini Cooper S - Cr.28500 @ 437.01 PP
Abarth 500 - Cr.29500 @ 403.72 PP
Renault Clio RS 220 - Cr.32000 @ 471.60 PP
Peugeot 208 GTi - Cr.30000 @ 457.40 PP
DS 3 Racing - Cr.31000 @ 459.70 PP
Toyota S-FR - Cr.19500 @ 412.60 PP
Toyota 86 GT - Cr.29052 @ 444.47 PP
Mazda Roadster S - Cr.24950 @ 414.26 PP
Mazda RX-8 Spirit R - Cr.32500 @ 491.23 PP
Subaru BRZ S '21 - Cr.32670 @ 489.22 PP
Suzuki Swift Sport '17 - Cr.18360 @ 425.91 PP
Hyundai Genesis - Cr.33000 @ 513.19 PP

I think it should be fair to use the UCD? Save a little bit since most of these cars probably show up at some point. Just right now, the Abarth is available at Cr.23300 and the Mini is available at Cr.21900. So you save a little, but I don't think enough to make your car easily win.

It'll probably all come down to weather. You need so called "Doom Rain" as coined by @smoothbore12.

Its not necessary to have rain but that depends on car.
And to cut a long story short, as i had about an hour till John ( my barber ) come at the house for a haircut, i said what the hell lets shoot one.

Didn't know his fuel consumption and i start at FM1 and change to FM6 after first lap.
A short rain was coming so i decide to keep RH on and drive on AT carefully till second stop that i didn't change tyres.
Times are a bit of a mess and got penalties for slippery drive 😂

Anyway Camaro SS16 with only adjustable ECU and 0.500k left.

Am sure he can win and dead stock of course.
35k +4.5k = 39.5
Mission accomplished

Edit
Of course all the above is cause tyres are free , otherwise i can't see a winner that need to buy them with money limit at 40k .

This 40k is interesting. I think the Mini Cooper is a good candidate for this maybe I will try it out later if I get a chance to play tonight

It's a shame that the hybrids are so limited, like the Mclaren P1 GTR, you get 1.5 fast laps, and then it's trash, but at least it has DRS! That gives you about 2mph on the straights.

@smoothbore12 Got a tune for you to try with AT gears, FM6 just gets you to 3 laps.
unfortunately the hybrid only works for the first lap before running out.

The race had extreme weather midway through lap 3, can see my mistakes

Ill try it today , i have race this once as i remember.
3 laps its a decent number .
Ill write my impressions after testing it.

Just did only one run with @AlexWilmot Ferrari , took daily ticket and that's all.
Took me some time to copy his settings as was in the vid .
Needed to pause , change glasses to read and change again for tv glasses etc. etc. 🥴
After some time i did it but i must miss something cause i have 547 hp than his 539 .
Anyway the car felt good and no surprises other that needed caution in braking.
The front end give confidence that he will be where you want it and the rear wasn't twitchy at least on dry weather.
Didn't manage 3 laps on AT , need a bit more fuel and after second lap i change to manual while rain was coming.

All in all the car felt balanced and that's how it goes

Wanted to try the tune from @AlexWilmot also but then realized it includes permanent upgrades. Since I just own one LaFerrari that's a "no no" for me.
So I thought let's see if I can win on hard with just a basic "tune".

It was a chaotic but fun race with heavy but rather short rain, me running out of fuel after the esses just before my second stop and me spinning out after that stop 'cause the track was still more wet than I thought.
Still won 'cause the guy who had a 5 second lead at me entered the pits at the end of lap 6. I guess I still would have won if he didn't but it would have been much closer.

I think this was my closest victory so far!

Race was almost completely dry, did one stop for tires and fuel. Car drives ok for a mid 60s Mini with 300+ HP and 280 top speed but there's something wrong, it has problems accelerating in 4th gear. It feels like wheel spin but that should be a problem at lower gears and not at 4th? Could it be the Semi Racing Clutch? Had forgotten to change to the racing one. I also think that I maybe had set the car a bit too low, since the controller was pretty much rattling all the time.... But whatever, fun race!

Try taking some of that front camber off, it reduces straight line traction and can really increase wheelspin. Lemans being fairly point and shoot often doesn't need a great deal other than a couple of first sector corners. An LSD would also improve traction, at the cost of understeer.

I just had pink-ish rain on the weather radar, never had that before at lemans, it missed the track but the yellow around it didn't. First time in ~100 runs I have ever pitted for wets rather than inters.

Especially unfortunate as I as in the Aston GT1, which is a great lemans runner thanks to solid fuel consumption, but a bit poop in slippery conditions.

Picked up a second Testarossa and tuned it for this race. Surprisingly decent on fuel. Really loose at the back, definitely eats up the rear tires. Overall kinda slow with 4:12ish lap time but wasn’t pushing super hard. Not as bad in the rain as I expected based on the dry handling, was on inters with about 70-80% showing on the water level.

I use some settings @Batschisane52 provide on this one.
Its on post 522 and it proved very fast and at FM1 it's a blast.

I understand the reluctance to put "permanent" upgrades on the LaFerrari since it isn't the easiest car to acquire with it being an invitation-only car and costing 1.6 million credits. I find in most cases that anyone here who has shared 100+ tunings of different cars has great recommendations to truly upgrade the driving experience for these cars. Some of them make such a massive difference that I am beyond grateful to have found GT Planet.

Let's say you did Titanium and Racing Crankshaft upgrades like that tune in the video and regretted it later. It is not permanent and would cost 800,000 to buy a new engine and remove them. No invite is necessary once you have the vehicle already and it would just require you to race and win this event one time with a clean race bonus to afford that. So just thought I would throw that out there.

Yeah, I'm aware you can reset your engine this way but it seems a bit excessive to me.
I just try to have fun while grinding by using different cars and see how they feel/drive. I used a lot of cars here I haven't even driven once before.
I never put any permanent upgrades on cars I just own once. I just wanna keep them stock.
I have no problem buying cars again (if they're cheap anyway or if it's a car I really like) and upgrade those duplets or do an engine swap.
But I see no point in just doing this for a single race and then reset the engine for like 800k.
Now if I were looking for a tune for the LaFerrari, yeah, maybe, but that's not the case at the moment. Maybe if I ever get another one (which will only happen if I get another invite ofc).

No disrespect @AlexWilmot, I'm sure his tune is fine and much more thoughtful than what I usually do!

Maybe copy tune - lsd, suspension, downforce etc using easy replaceable parts, but leave out the perm ones? Probably wont make much difference, may just need to tweak lsd slightly to allow for different bhp from perm parts you haven't installed?

Am doing the same if i don't want to mess with permanent modifications.
I copy other stuff and trying to find a balance on weight distribution,LCD etc.etc.
A well balanced car with good suspension settings and a proper gearbox is what i seek the most.
To have a car that you feel confident with it , is the best scenario.

Agree. I'm more interest in handling/feel over brute force power. I sometimes just upgrade tyres and brakes, depending on car.

I do use the masters tunes a lot, but sometimes feels likes you could be driving any car if you upgrade absolutely everything, too far removed from its pure, intended form. Although some cars benefit/need radical upgrades. Some just enjoy maxing cars, which of course is fine too.

This is why I lowered the power in the countach tune than the results I was getting at first, just had a more enjoyable drive without having to worry about breaking soo early,

On a side note, as long as the car can reach 175 mph, you can win, like I did with the DS3 before
