Does that mean it may come as a special pick with a higher/lower pricetag?
To expand on @skydragon49's answer, the only effect a special pick has in Hagerty's is it allows PD to bring back a car without affecting where it is in the rotation. In the UCD, PD gives the car its "kilometerage" in its model year (e.g. a 1991 car would have 1991 km on the odometer - same as a Hagerty's special pick), and the car costs what it would cost if it were in either Brand Central or Hagerty's (its "zero-mileage" price, twice its new engine cost and 0.8 times its new body cost).

I think Forza Motorsport had the right idea with their in-game prices- 500,000 tops.
No it didn't. I am (was) a long time Forza Player and in the latest one the cars don't mean anything. You get crapped on with credits and the feeling of finally getting a expensive car you wanted for a long time is not there. I had around 200 hours until i stopped in late december and had over 50million credits just from online races and car leveling.

I only speak for myself, of course, but I like the GT model more even if sometimes it sucks to not be able to buy a car once it's at the legendary dealer.

I, for one, don't mind the prices nor the payouts in GT7. I think they are reasonable. Making 850k in 26 minutes at Tokyo or 30 minutes at La Sarthe is a pretty good return. Now, I would like it if there were 10 races or more with similar duration and payouts, but I don't have a problem with the Mclaren F1 costing $20m. I've saved nowhere near that much yet, but I'll be playing this game for a while, so I'm not too bothered.

Alternatively - and assuming you've completed everything else - you can always do the weekly challenges. But I also really like trying my hand at various Sport Mode events, like the online time trials where I usually collect 1m credits a week, or the championships where I recently got rewarded 3.15m credits for my rankings in the GTWS Exhibition Series Nations Cup Season 3. I've honestly made it my mission to never repeat an event unless I either didn't get gold on it on the last attempt, or it's part of the weekly challenges.

50 million credits in GT7 gets you one tenth of the car collection (credits-wise that is). I've collected almost 200 million credits so far and need another 300 million...or roughly 500 more Sardegnas. I don't mind grinding, but I'd say there's a happy medium somewhere between Forza and this...

(I caught some of Super GT's stream on Sunday where he was working on 100% everything in the game. Now here's a guy who has been essentially playing GT7 professionally since release (I think) who has pretty much everything in the game done and can gold every challenge that comes along and he's still 200 million away from the complete car collection! lol)

Somewhere in the middle would be good. In FM everything is just too cheap. I think the most expensive car was the Koenigsegg Jesko at 470.000 or so. Depending on the assists you use thats around 10 online races for the most expensive car. Total nonsense imo.

And: one of the most iconic cars in history.
Yep, totally agree. This Alfa Romeo is a pure legend.

These debates about the car pricing are a bit useless as it's only a game, as the credits are only virtual, and as we can grind tons of credits to buy these 494 cars. Morever, you don't need to buy all the cars to have fun.
Too expensive? Don't buy it.
Useless car? Don't buy it.
Simple.

Based on my experience, it was really easy/fast to collect the necessary credits to buy my first fast cars in GT7 (911 RSR and my GT-R).

Happy ginding folks :dopey:

oh of course, you can buy a bunch of great cars in absolutely no time. The Radical is one of my favorite cars in the whole game and I had it within a day of getting the game. But, collecting all the cars is a "thing" in the game. A significant chunk of the game dashboard is devoted to noting where you stand in that regard and there's also a nice bingo card if you click on the "Car Collection" icon in your garage. It's such a popular aspect of the game that the economy is essentially built around it and manufactured FOMO to entice people (the legendary "whales") to spend real money on it. The problem isn't that you have to grind credits - it's simply that it requires such an incredible amount of it. In the end it really sort of cheapens the experience...it feels like this fun part of the game has been co-opted into a really cynical money-making scheme (where every daily workout ticket feels like a slap in the face  ) or something. Maybe the next step in the process is to have to pay huge amounts of credits to unlock the tracks and then to have to pay for "track day" time. But you're right, the debates are absolutely useless lol...it's not going to change anything.

None of the cars are "useless" to me as long as Nordschleife is in the game.

Not really.
50 million credits gets you over half the cars. With 200 million you can buy over 90% of cars.
Glass half full.

One person 's trash is someone else "s treasure

Relatively new to the game still - does the LCD refresh in a predictable pattern? I've still not seen the '71 AMG 300 SEL race car come up. I just missed my window to buy the F50 too. :boggled:

Somewhat, not precisely but it's in the ballpark. The order is mostly roughly the same, the emphasis on the words mostly and roughly.

I personally would lean in a different direction. The one thing that has always bothered me about the game's economy is that there is very little use for the credits and therefore no sense of ownership of the vehicles in the garage - the reason being that the game is so generous with rewarding you with vehicles that you really don't have to buy many. I would be much happier if we could make our own choices and buy the vehicles instead. The frugal reward system could be balanced with more realistic payouts when selling vehicles.

Most cars are 12 weeks (roughly), the trophy cars are 6 weeks. I suppose I should update my table...
Ok so that particular car is overdue to return if it last appeared on 1/1/2024.

On the subject of car prices & credits. I don't think I have ever 100-percented any game, ever. Whatever it is in some people that compels them to achieve that is something I don't have in me. I will never 100% GT7, I know that for damn sure. The benefit then, is that if I'm never worried about "completing" the game, then I don't have to bother with collecting the absurd amount of credits needed to buy all of them. I don't think I will ever buy the Mclaren F1 LM Longtail...because I don't like how it looks. So that's $20m credits I don't need to spend. The vanilla F1 and the GTR are on my list, but only because I want them. The additional benefit is that I'll always have something else to do in the game, and just the fact that there are cars I don't own, it makes the game feel more expansive. I think completionists may have the biggest problem with GT7's economy.

We're not quite at 1/1 in the "overdue" cutoff yet. Other than special picks, the latest previous appearance for a car is currently 12/25 (the McLaren MP4/4), with the Suzuki Escudo (also last appearing 12/25-1/4) and the overdue Mercedes Benz 300 SL W194 (last appearing 12/12-12/23) the only cars from Christmas or before not reappearing. There are also 4 non-trophy cars that last showed up between 12/28 and 12/31 (none of them subsequent special picks).

I've got 14 million credits burning a hole in my pocket right now. What to buy what to buy???

The BMW Mclaren 97 longtail..... Useful and a bliss to drive.

Edit: the Mercedes CLK LM 98 is up for 8.500M. As useful and nice to drive as the BMW Mclaren. And then you'd still have some spare money.

lol...yes, how presumptuous of anyone to think they should have access to a few of the big money legends cars in the videogame they paid for.
Right? You want what you want when you want it and who are the game designers or publishers to deny you. I’ve been there my friend. I remember vividly plunking down every penny of my allowance on Super Mario 64 just for Nintendo and Shigeru to withhold the stars, I’d paid $70 in early 90s for, from me. I had to earn them as some sort of fraudulent “game play” hoax. Stay strong!

The 3 month rotation on those cars is amazing gameplay. And the invitation system is even more amazing, you might never even get the one you want!! 😁

If you can’t experience every piece of content a game has to offer in three months (or 12 over rotations), if a game contains something like armor or a weapon or rare content that requires extra grinding or effort, then limiting it to the those who can give more hours or may have special skill, it’s a cash scam, no question. If I put my money down, I should have the same armor and weapons available on my first RAID run as the dude on his 500th. I paid my money same as him for the content created for the game. You pay, you get it all!! NOW!!
