I pulled 1:54-55 out of the car for the last 4-5 laps. I think lap 28 was a 1:53.8xx, but it destroyed my tires even further. By the end, every corner was a crapshoot and just holding the line exit corners was nerve-racking. I watched my lead shrink by a second every lap from about the 18-19 lap on. Had I had one off, I would have been done for. I was wiping sweat off my forehead by lap 23. It was awesome! Why exercise when you can race with the same outcome?? :D

I was running 1:52s - low 1:53s all race regardless of tire wear. I pit on lap 17 or 18. I don't think my times would've gone higher than 1:55s if I had stayed out. One of the reasons I pit was because I went wide and picked up some dirt, then totally cooked my front right trying to brake for the last turn.

1.51's between laps 10-15 then 1.53's between 16-25 then finally 1.54.3's for the last leg. Tires were junked, but was still fast enough for 20 seconds over 3rd 4th. These no pits are a blast.

I thought the pit stop was less than 30 seconds. If someone was running 1:51-1:52 on fresh tires they should have closed in more than 10 seconds on you...but then again, you have a very light car that is probably much easier on tires compared to Sl3ight's behemoth.

Lap traffic played a large roll in the race. Once again cars were grouped in small pockets around the track after the 5th lap so there was never a case of passing one car at a time. If the traffic was less, I would have pitted, but the cars I was passing as singles had come together to make packs for other drivers to get around. Did that make sense?

Hrm... was running 1'55s at worst, and running 1'52s while trying to catch up to and pass Jedi (where I *at least* should have been)... was fun blasting around with geezer, and others up front...too bad I was down a lap and a half for most of the race because of that BS pit stop.

I think my game freaked out on me like I hadn't seen before..had to hit the X button to get it to do anything (once I was already 1 lap down) :P\

Now I need to decide if I want to win the next race by going bonzo on PP upgrades (sounds presumptuous, but it'll happen...), or simply stay a little more than competitive, and plan for the big ones like the Green Hell!

Why does everyone think my car is light?! My Mr2 weighs the same lol.

Light compared to the Silvia. Your MR2 is light too. Didn't you already do stage 2 weight reduction on it?

If we're going to keep running 1hr races, I propose that we have a mandatory pit-stop between 30 and 45 mins (whatever those laps end up being -- 20-25ish?)

Even though I could be called out for FF whine, I don't think a no-pit strategy should be able to win.. It's simply not fair.

Someone in the wednesday thread (Durandal?) asked if it would have stuck should the race had gone to 90mins instead..and I don't think it would have. Of course the FF cars would have pitted twice, but that's life..

No, I'm out. The no pit strategies adds to the strategy. The pit lane on Laguna Seca is so long, that's why the no pits worked. You could basically have 35 seconds too stretch your tires. 10 laps left, means that you had to make sure that the second place car could not make over 3.2 seconds a lap on you.

I vote we not make it mandatory, takes the fun out of it. My .02 cents.

Agreed. The pit strategy will undoubtedly be different next week.

I agree. Choose my car because of even tire wear. Cheers.

I learned my way around the course tonight. I'm sure others are faster than me, but I managed a 2:10.7. Most of my clean laps were high 2:11s to low 2:12s.

Changing to sports tires and running this course, yes, my tires now warm up quickly. And I don't think I'll go without pitting this week.

I dont think you can compare the races because of the no/pit strategy. If I wanted to run a faster time overall, I would have pit. However, the race went differently and I told myself I would only pit if I lost more than 2 seconds over whomever was in 2nd place. BTK was never more than 1 second faster than me until the last three laps when he closed about 2 seconds each lap. By that time, I was committed and 30 seconds ahead. If I would have pit on lap 16-17, my total time would have been 30-40 seconds quicker, but I would have had to risk passing more cars safely. No thanks. As to pitting this week...we'll have to see. :sly:

Took a tour today of my hometown, Roanoke Rapids, NC. A week after Irene, and there are still crews working on restoring power to some blocks. There are lots and lots of very large trees down and still in need of clean up.

There aren't any reports that I know of of flooding in the area, just enough rain softening the ground enough for the sustained winds to blow over hardwoods.

NEED ANOTHER FTO. I was parts testing and accidentally backed out of my lounge instead of quitting the game and my fto has an extra part that puts me over budget. Did anyone buy an fto then not use it? I've got this request on another forum as well so hopefuuly I can have another before the race.

If its not something that permanently changed the car - engine mods, or weight reduction, then just run it without having it installed..and 'spend' the budget later.

I can't police that, so if you have it purchased, then I can only assume you had it installed during the race.

Mind you there are multiple ways to cheat the system. I'm sorry, but people at PD must've never actually played a game online. Or seen a modern web page for that matter.

He could just confirm that his PP is correct before and after the race. I trust him not to cheat.

Race is tomorrow night. Get me your parts a couple hours before the race.

I think my car will finish way up there, maybe another podium finish!
