All my lap times have been online. So, as I expected, I will be the slowest car out there. I imagine I'll get lapped twice tonight. If you come up behind me, be patient. I will get off the line and let you pass.

I don't mind not winning, I would just like to find a place where I am not the one holding up the end of race timer.

I understand that sentiment 100%. If you're getting lapped, the game puts you into that stupid ghost form :grumpy: so you cannot cause an incident. I'd like to see that tried in any racing league ever run in Real Life. I will pass though as if your car is visible, but I guarentee folks will drive right through you distorting your view and distracting the heck out of you at the same time.

Sure, you can use MGT prices. I just figured you'd want to get the most out of the car. Sounds like the Skyline might be your better option. You could drop a stage1 weight reduction on it and easily shave off a second.

850 left to use in Lancer and I could fit the racing filter
4,800 left for the skyline and I'm thinking NA 1 and a sports muffler (weight reduction is 5K :()

The ghost mode is only if penalties are on (or so I understand it). With penalties off, I can cause an accident (and that is my experience).

Oh...I only race online in the 450PP group and we have them on I guess. (now that I think about it, the last two+ weeks I've only used the PS3 for 450PP races. :D Awesome

UPDATE: Both my possible cars are shared if anyone feels the need or just wants to verify their set-up.

Just try to stay off the racing line if you see a lead car approaching and don't try to get out of the way if there isn't room to do it cus you might put yourself off, and that just leads to a bigger mess.

My cars looking like a proper unfinished test car in matte grey.

So I did some online lobby practice on GVE-Reverse.

30 minute session...
First 5 laps: 1:14.8-1:15.8
Laps 6-20: 1:16.1-1:17.0
Laps 20-28: 1:16.8-1:18

The Evo was very quick out of the gate but the right front tire wears down fast when I push it. The worn tire affects speed through turns 1 and 2 and makes turn 3 (entering the tunnel) very dangerous. I also have trouble carrying speed around the final turn. By the end, the front tires were just past 1/2 worn. I might have gotten more laps out of them but lap times were obviously dropping as I had to slow down more and more for the turns. The car went from slight oversteer to pronounced understeer. It might be possible to run an hour on the same tires but you'll definitely make back time lost in a single pit stop, perhaps even 2 pit stops depending on your driving style.

The GTP_OLR rules are pretty clear about what to do as a lead car and a lapped car. Penalties will be off so cars will not be ghosted. Best thing to do is hold your line. If you are on the inside, stay inside. If you are on the outside, stay outside.

In the EVO T.M., I felt all of those things in just my three lap practice online. The turn into the tunnel will be the most difficult to consistently navigate. I'm not set on the car, I may hop over to the R32 N1 Skyline because once I drop the weight, it will be quicker. The Evo is already so light that the time gains will be less significant.

How could it be in 5 hours 40 minutes? It says 2130 GMT. And it is currently 6.25 +10. EDIT: Read the post above.

yeah duh...i was reading the chart wrong and didn't bother to actually check. so yeah. practice starts at 1:30GMT or 9:30EDT.

I read the post...practice at 9:30 EST and race at 10:00 EST. It was 3:20PM CST when I answered. :)

The title of the thread did read 21:30 GMT. It is now corrected to 21:30 EDT.

And 9:30 EST != 9:30 EDT. Not everyone observes daylight saving time (Nevada, Hawaii, and the area around Chicago, I think), so it is important.

Things start Thursday, 14 April 2011, 01:30 GMT.

I assume we are getting no money for tonights race. My car was 25K can I use the remaining before tonight or should I wait till after the race OR do we have to run stock cars for the first race?

what cars are you running? been too busy with schoolwork and a job interview to mess with gt5 the past couple days and experiment. Can we buy used cars? because that opens up a ton of performance bargains

I just discovered this series and would like to join. I know I'm too late for the pre-season, but I could just start at Race 1 if that's fine. Would this be possible?

What are we doing to ensure people don't buy parts and just not install them?
Share your car at the end of the evening. I will publish a spreadsheet of what everyone bought for their cars which should be no more than 30,000 credits. I have photos of the cars of people who went by UCD prices. If you think someone's car is too fast, you can take it for a spin in practice mode and verify the correct mods are installed and you can run their lap times.

Correct. If your car only cost 25k, pick out 5k worth of parts and install them before the race. Everyone will be running cars costing no more than 30k tonight (purchase + parts).

I also stated that oil change, and engine/chassis rebuild is free. I can't police whether someone has done it so everyone gets to do it. Someone messaged me and said it would promote people picking cars with higher mileage because they would be cheaper. If someone wants to refresh their UCD for hours trying to find an exact car at the lowest possible price I say whatever. You're saving at best 4-5k and it will all equalize itself after round 1 anyway (i hope).

Evos, Stis, RX-7s, Skylines, etc. There's lots to chose from.

If you can put together a car in the next 45 minutes and email the details to chris(at)huyler.net including a photo of the car in the UCD. Then you can participate. If you miss the pre-season warmup you will not be allowed to participate. It is mandatory so we don't have any surprises once the season starts.

From what I've read so far, alot of people will be bringing EVOs and STis, and a couple of skylines.

I know I'm going to be at least two seconds off the pace tonight lol

Hopefully my plan works out in the end.
