Live Stream: FIA Gran Turismo Championships New York World Tour

Realistic damage should still be turned off for online FIA racing since it can still attract griefers and people that immediately destroy other people's cars for no reason.

On World Tour we can apply realistic damage at this point, top of the top drivers that should be able to keep together.
Plus it should force PD to make smart decisions on combos so we don't get SF19 Bluemoon. (The semi finals were fine imo, just remove the Quattro since it's the only weird sheep in the group haha)

Expecting they use Zonda R or P1 GTR

I really don't understand why they're not showing tire's waste and gasoline consumption. Those datas are of major importance to understand a race.

I think PD just don’t want the public seeing these guys using anything but FM1, so they leave it out. Same with tires, if everyone saw the mega tire wear they might not feel like the guys are pushing full out on the track/not able to push full out. That’s just my guess though. I think basically PD is trying to preserve the illusion that it’s flat out racing and not fuel/tire saving races.

They would have to find a way to show that info in the broadcast but not to the drivers, which would happen with current setups. Every driver can peak into what's being broadcasted and would see how much fuel their opponents have, which makes no sense.

Maybe put the drivers bellow the giant screen with no chance of or angle to look at it mid race. Also, if they have headsets and communication with people watchng the broadcast, that information couldn't be passed on to them.

A question for Lightning. Has there been any discussion between the drivers and PD about moving away from the red bull cars for the last race all the time? I mean the car isn't even real and the physics leave a lot to be desired. I would honestly prefer Group 2 cars to be used for the final race, or at least change it up between each event.

Somebody said that @TRL LIGHTNING is capable of beating Igor and thats the best thing to take away from this event. Can't agree more. You did beat him in qualifying, race pace and most important in fairness mate. Better losing with honor than wining with sneaky tactics. Not more to say.
A little more. Dont give up and stay on his rear regardless of how you feel. You never know what can change after a race. If you did that you'd have won

I feel like pointing out how well done the track/car combos were in this race, with every one except the semi-final B being a one make (and even then, the sports tires made the Group B race much better.)

The Indycar race at BMB was a bit of a dice roll, but it seems like that's the way the repechage races seem to lean. It does seem like the Super Formula cars are a bit too fast/nimble for the track, but it might be that BMB is much shorter/more narrow than IRL equivalent Pocono. It might have been a little bit better for the oval racing if moves were a little bit more deliberate than what was needed by bringing a slower car, but it was pretty cool to see the cars on the edge like that, just not so much at the drivers pinballing off each other/the wall and shrugging it off due to the high downforce at an oval. I'd like to see more SF races though, especially at a circuit where it might be less obvious to save all the overtake for the final lap.

I found myself wishing GT would showcase some more cars beyond what we've come to expect, and the Fittipaldi certainly did the trick. I hope to see more of that car in particular, although I'd certainly love is a "one make VGT" race became a staple of future events. Overall if future events have similar standards with car selection I think we're in great shape for more good racing

In Amsterdam we were talking about it before the whole fia season has started and I think it's due to sponsoring we are still using the car if I can still remember. I mean Red Bull TV is showing the races too I think plus having the Salzburg world tour event in Hangar 7

I wonder how many guys will be gunning for Igor during the next FIA season now? (Not in the live events, but the actual season leading up to it)

In hindsight, very poor decision by organizers to let winners race again.

The competition is based on elimination rounds. Every spot counts. And Fraga and Rubilar have already proven themselves. I think everyone would have preferred to see 2 new drivers get a chance at the final.

Overall though, FIA needs to step up in my opinion. They are the ones not taking this seriously.

This is what "FIA Action for Road Safety" is.

Not to sound harsh, but the Bottom line is... in order to be the Champion you must beat the champion, and yesterday Hizal didn’t. There will be other opportunities.

Btw, psychological wars have always been a tool used by the majority of the winning sides, from conquering empires to winning championships. I think Igor got the best of Hizal in that regard. Frustration can be a motivator but adds no HP to the car!

Best of luck next time. It was fun to watch!

A lot of interesting discussion taking place here. For those of you who are referring to Fraga's move as a brake check for lifting, what if he would have changed the fuel map to reduce power instead? Just curious.
The fundamental problem is that Igor's gap to Mikail exiting the 1st corner was rather large. Using fuel maps might've been feasible had he done it immediately upon exit and still carried enough safe speed into Eau Rouge with Mikail directly behind. It's a lot of things to line up properly without making it look blatant.

PD need to sort out the BoP for manufacturer's races.

The Blue Moon race was horrific, like watching a bunch of DR D SR E players going at it, not some of the best in the world. That was a terrible advert for PD and FIA and didn't give the competitors a chance to show their abilities to the fullest.

The other bad advert for PD was the final itself. What happened at the first corner wasn't clear but one of the fastest drivers disappeared into the wilderness. Further to that there was some good racing and there's no doubt Spa being added to the game is great. As things closed up at the front it was clear that Lightning was in the quicker car thanks to the tyre advantage. Fraga's defence has always been solid but the run up Kemmel is going to be tricky to negate - he found ways to do it. The pulling over tactic was OK IMO; not typically seen but wasn't dangerous. Fraga was also happy to run Lightning wide, in a way that Lightning did not when in the same situation. The lifting into Eau Rouge and Radillon is too much and the stewards saw it that way, too. However, the reason for them taking so long (a while after the end of the race) was unclear. The footage of all the other drivers standing around as Cody (10 sec penalty well deserved) replayed the action was telling. I think Igor may find things a little less straightforward in future events.

I think the "bias" comment in the post race interview from Lightning was probably too close to the wire but I thought he was relatively calm and professional in the context of what had happened minutes earlier. To be balanced, Igor's responses didn't really reflect the truth of what had gone on.

At the end of the day, Fraga still goes away with the win. As an aside, I wonder how many players will now "do a Fraga" in online races as a legitimate defence.

I'm also bored of seeing the X2019 in the final. There are plenty of other cars that would make a great spectacle in Gr.1, Gr.2, Gr.X etc.

I'm really happy for Miyazono (Kerokkuma) being named driver of the day.
I'm actually convinced he would've won on the fresh softs, as he was only 8.5secs down the road from Fraga (mediums) after his last pitstop. So if you consider the battles between Fraga and Lightning, as well as the fuel saving strategies, he would've gained so much time.
If he pulled it off, it would in fact remind me of a Button's win at Montreal back in 2011.
As soon as he came into the pits on lap 1, I had a feeling he found a trick. Plus, for anybody who has raced with Kerokkuma in lobby mode, he always discovers a brilliant strategy along with Kokubun (Akagi), who I believe is a dark horse come November.

Regarding the 'main' incident, I was rather disappointed by the culprit, considering I have always rated and enjoyed the odd chat with Fraga, but he lifted off for far too long. The FIA should undertake the same rules and regulations for esports as real racing, as this could be the stepping stone for many future generations. If Fraga did the same thing in a Formula 3, there's a possibility the accident could've been fatal. I doubt Fraga would do the same thing in real racing, but we cannot guarantee it.
Plus, the incident with Nico on lap 1 should've been looked at, because Nico's nose looked in front around the hairpin on the outside, which meant that Fraga cannot force him wide.

Above all, what has caused these incidents is the terrible stewarding in the previous event at the Nürburgring, which has allowed drivers to take advantage of the 100% clean racers. Not acceptable. Plus, having silly combinations like Group B at Autopolis and Super Formula at Blue Moon Speedway doesn't help either.

There needs to be a major overhaul in stewarding and management.

I don’t understand why they don’t just use the in-game penalty system at these events.

Can you imagine if this was used during the repechage race? It would have been a race to see who could burn off their penalties first.

As far as the finals go, much respect to @TRL LIGHTNING for racing as most of us on this forum prefer, clean. Why someone with nothing to lose would resort to such tactics I do not understand. There should have been a investigation notification shortly after, not when the race was over. And shame on PD for allowing this happen, I can see how you would be upset. We have to put up with this type of driving (actually worse) on a daily basis during Sport races. And any casual GTS user watching this broadcast will come away from this thinking this is acceptable behavior. Even though this is still a game, the game is not fun when you have you race ruined through the fault of others. Just ask Miyazono.

Nope, he lost his racing honor this time.

No matter how you or anyone else tries to spin it. And dodgy is a strange word for dirty. If he hadn't played dirty it would be a completely different discussion.

Maybe it would be about Hizal losing because he messed up the fuel strategy, or how Hizal defended his way to a victory or maybe how dirty Hizal was so that he could win.

But when you win by being dirty you write your own story. Exactly what Igor did.

Don't know if some of you are ignoring this or how many times this needs repeating but

Igor did not win by that move. Hizal needed to fuel save and would have been outpaced. Ironically, Hizal letting go, resulted in Igor winning even after a penalty.

We don't have a time machine, so we can't go back and see how things could have unfolded.

What we can say is that Igor did a variety of things to maintain his track position, one of which was deemed to be illegal by the stewards and a few of which would infuriate any number of racers in this game or any other.

If @TRL LIGHTNING makes the overtake up Kemmel then he can switch to Fuel Mode 6 all the way from Les Combes to Stavelot and comfortably stay ahead - a couple of laps of that and he'd have all the fuel he needs. Meanwhile, Igor is in the dirty air, on a harder tyre burning more fuel and using more tyre. That track position is absolutely key.

For what it's worth, he made the overtake around the outside because Mikhail gave him the room to do it.

We don't need a time machine.

IF what Hizal says is true and he fell back due to saving on fuel, then losing nearly 6 seconds is obviously going to result in Igor overtaking him.

Unless you think Igor will suddenly also lose 6 seconds of lap time.

I would agree with you if I had overtaken him round the outside. But if I was able to stay ahead of him where he tried to have my slipstream I don't know but probably better as I wouldn't have pushed at that lap unlike where I was still behind of him. But that's just a if if situation

I think you're misunderstanding. Hizal doesn't lose 6 seconds if he's in front.

well first of all, that repechage race was a joke of a selection. Super Formulas at an oval? To determine who is the best of the rest? Come on, terrible idea PD.

Secondly, the whole point of suggesting using the in-game penalty system is so the races don't turn out like that one did. If penalties are on, and everyone knows it, people wouldn't be using the wall to overtake people by slamming them up into it. Or maybe they would, but at least they'd be penalized for it. I'm just saying that we play this game all the time, and I never see races that are as dirty and contact-ridden as that repechage race, and that's because there are clear and understood consequences. By this time, many live events in, the competitors knows that they can get away with waaaaaaay more than they are allowed to in game, so all these guys are doing are racing within the parameters given and the precedents set by previous events. Can't really fault them much.

How hard is it to understand reality?

What you are saying is pure speculation and nothing else, it's a guess, something you made up as you post, fantasy at best.
Even if we ignore the fact that Hizal is a master of fuel and tire saving..

If Igor had played it clean then we would have known how a clean race would have ended. Purely decided by raw speed and talent. Instead we got a winner that was chosen by stewards, the stewards made the winning move...
