I can't break the 1'20 barrier clean with my DS3, I'm consistent below 1'20.5, but it's rought on my thumbs. I see you guys flicking the car into turn 2, and I just don't seem to get the finesse to take that corner above 94 or so at the apex. Then it's the S's. My record time is in the 1'19.8's ridding the rumble, no tap. I know shame on me. But it's the game we're given, but it's worth a couple of tenths, I'm scrubbing most of my time in turn 2.

I am not sure how it is on a controller, but on the wheel, the more you turn the wheel the more it turns..and if you get a good enough line, you can carry good speed. STD Physics are insane, I never thought a car could do the things I make it do in my lap.

ON T2 Just over steer while braking then hit the throttle as soon as possible, keep a lot of wheel into the turn and straighten out when you think its going to clear the wall.

Fixed up. :)

I haven't commented in this forum on any of the laps I've watched. When I get back within range of my PS3 I'll likely have a look at all of the top ten times, but I would certainly assume that your lap is clean, Chadwicksracing. 👍

Misquoted. :dunce:

Interesting, the forum quoted the wrong person. That is a first for me.

It is bad to assume! Since the other 9 replays are dirty and wall riders. 👍

I cant't believe you are actually trying to say your not cheating when you wall ride the last corner. You're not riding the rumble strip, YOU ARE RIDING THE WALL:dunce: You can see the front end bounce off the wall. This is in my top 10 of the dumbest thing Ive seen ever.

i said no one cheats on track pd didnt make, i.e. suzuka, daytona. and i will win something and you wont, dumby. you are the number 1 dumbest person i have ever seen type on here ill be at daytona pro on the 30's tonight

There is an old saying:

"Don't put your foot in your mouth"

You have not won yet. Judging by my lap..I was beating you guys in Sector 1 and Sector 2. Someone will find that time, and pass you. I would not just hang up your coat just yet. Race my Ghost..and try to beat me and maybe then you will secure that 1st P.

Good luck

You really told me on that one. Even though you cant even quote me correct. Also thanks for making me your #1 dumbest person.👍

O yea Chad, it was a clean lap. I hope you win something for not joining in on the wall riding train.

I had the same issue until I got my DFGT out and put my playseat together again. My time dropped almost a second with the wheel. I managed to get a 1.19.1 (was going to hang it up at 1.19.38 but could not resist trying to get into the 18s) and last I looked was in 24th. The ironic thing about this contest is it takes a wheel to win one I guess. Would be interesting to know if anyone in the top 25 are using a controller. That all said it is the first time I've played GT5P in a long while so I'm happy this contest has generated some interest in the game again.

Also, not to beat a dead horse but I wish these contests would not be hot lap events. Would be a lot more fun to take the top 16 players and put them in a race at the end of the week to decide the winner. Then the race replay could be made available on GT-TV.

My best CLEAN time was a 19.3xx posted on the first or second day using the 6-axis...haven't tried since, as I'm not to fond of this TT or the ettiquete being used by a majority of the field. I believe a low 19 is about all I could muster with the 6-axis though :yuck: Contrary to popular believe, the controller is a HUGE disadvantage with this particular car in standard mode, even though HSR is probably one of the best pad/controller circuits there is. I can usually come within a tenth or two of the record leaderboard time at HSR with most cars in Professional mode...this combo is much different though and quite disgusting for me.

Like I've mentioned before, the necessary driving style and inputs needed to be fast with this car in standard physics are nearly impossible to achieve with the controller. :nervous: For the most part you'll end up with massive understeer unless you time all of your inputs perfectly and use the necessary technique to rid of understeer...which is easier said than done when you haved such limited precision and control. Anyone who doesn't believe me I suggest you pick up a controller and see just how frustrating it is. T2 isn't all that bad with the controller if you get the rear rotated hard under entry, run the correct line, and get on the throttle at the appropriate time. The "S" section (T3 into T4) is what absolutely kills the controller guys though. Most wheel users can keep nearly full throttle through this entire portion, while the controller guys are left with a lot more understeer which absolutely kills lap times.

It is a bit funny how Logitech could choose a combo that suits controller guys so badly...it's almost as if they're forcing people to buy their product in order to compete, or at least in order to be somewhat competitive. Oh well, I don't have much use for their prizes anyway.

GTP_CWR 👍

Your car's transmission and clutch didn't fall out onto the track and you made it around very fast without hitting the wall. It's close, but I've watched it a couple of times. Awesome representation.

Every single other replay... 👎 Transmission components everywhere and massive driver side body damage. Shameful.

jeez, my best is in the low 1:21 range and I'm fairly consistant within 1/2 sec or so--I just don't see 3 seconds to cut off this track...

is there a speed increase using either sequential or full manual transmission? I've gone to auto to give me less to think about, but 3 sec is kind of a lot, so I'm willing to try new ideas. at least I'm in the top 500...for now...

I have heard using a Clutch can take off as much as a 100th for a lap.. It has been in my experience that manual is faster.

Out of the TOP TEN So sad.. The only clean lap that fast and I won't win a thing.

You've been knocked down to 11th. 👎

My best was 1'19.997 (which basically means I'm too slow to win anyways ) in an Audi TT, I was following your ghost for about 8 laps to get that mark. It puts me at 135th overall, even though I'm Canadian and will be DQ'd anyways.

i never thought banging into the wall was possible, it obviously is according to the top couple replays. not only is it possible, but it apparently makes you go faster.

hmmm, well I managed to hit 336th...momentarily anyhow with 1:20:720 (IIRC), which ain't half bad for a Kia driver. But having now downloaded a few of those replays, I think I smell what everybody here is cooking... I see where most of my 3 seconds down are and that just plain doesn't look right.

I have modified how I enter that corner to carry more speed, but I am not going to figure out how wall scraping works. I guess the big question is if those are valid times or not. I say they probably are, being within the rules of the race (no dq'ed lap), but I certainly hope somebody's paying attention to all these little exploits and closing them up, because I don't much care for the famous 'gran turismo' wall slide. Thought that went away after the first game.

Ok, Today I am going full force on Logitech and Sony Computer Entertainment of America.

In the Rules its states this:

if SCEA and/or Logitech determine, in its sole discretion, that fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond SCEA’s and/or Logitech's reasonable control impairs the integrity of the promotion. SCEA and/or Logitech reserve the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the promotion process or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the promotion is a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, SCEA and/or Logitech reserve the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. SCEA’s and/or Logitech's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

Under those grounds the person who wall rode should be Disqualified from the Event because they are deliberately undermining the competition by using the wall in the final turn to improve their time. Therefore cheating.

...reasonable control impairs the integrity of the promotion..

If anyone would like to help me get those individuals Disqualified for that action can call SCEA and Logitech.

Come on everyone if we stand up we can make a difference. Why let a no good cheater win a prize for just wall riding the last corner. If you care about how contests in the full GT5 game and even in Prologue are going to be ran, then now is the time to make that change. Tell PD and Logitech that cheating will not be tolerated in Prologue and we as a community will fight against these cheaters. :gtpflag:

even if they were to try and fix this, how could they possibly identify who was wall riding now? all the top 10 are probably doing it--they have videos we can see. but most of the top 20 probably are too, and they don't. Even if somehow everybody's ghost data was saved, somebody then has to go through them all--and I just don't see it happening. How far back do they have to go to get 3 clean laps? And even on a 'clean' lap, would there be a way to know the lap before it wasn't dirty allowing extra speed to be carried down the long opening straight?

Gran Turismo online play is as broken as any of the famously useless mario kart titles--this little exploit is nothing compared to some of the things I've seen out there. Screw it, pull online from the game if it can't be done right.

Since our very own GTP_CWR was #10 yesterday afternoon, running a clean lap within a couple hundredths of the leader, I have no trouble believing that there would be 3 clean racers in at least the top 30.

You're right though, we have no idea (though I'm sure they do) if PD has a system in place to save the replays that have been knocked out of the top 10.

Here is the GOOD NEWS.

I was able to contact somone that is DIRECTLY connect with the Logitech Challenge. A nice fella named Charlie at Logitech started a case, and said he would e-mail his bosses about this and some action would be taken. I don't know what that means, but I got a hold of someone and they are now aware of the cheating. I will keep you posted about all of this, but he was actually fimilar with the game, and played it..ect. So I think I did what I wanted to do, which is all I can do, and hope and pray that those replays will be deleted.

Let me point out a few things. I am not make a huge stink about this because I want to win. I am making this a big stink because its not right that someone is using a wall to aid their lap.. Its wrong and unfair to the other conpetitors. It just drivers me nuts that people do that.

But what I am most embarassed about is I wall rode initially to be as fast as them. I am not trying to make myself look so selfless, but I am human and I wanted to win too. Then I just got sick of it, because everyone was doing it and I really wanted a clean lap, because it makes me feel like I am that good and because its the right thing to do. Let me tell you a clean lap makes you feel like you have achieved more because you know you are that fast.

I hope I put a end to the "WIN AT ALL COST" attitude. Someone should win because they are truely the best and fastest, because they have the skill neccessary to be that fast. One should not win because of using the guard rail to aid their effort. A truely good driver can make a car go that fast without using a wall.. Which in real life would either kill you or wreck your car for the day.

Thanks for the Support,
CWR

P.S. Perhaps we won one battle, but the fight for honesty and integrity is not over. We still have a lot of heads to turn.
