Logitech G25 Racing Wheel

kikie
Exactly and the "alternative" you talked about is just the wheel. G25 is a complete setup for $300 = € 234.

My only concern. Is this wheel going to be compatible with the PS3 and GT5 (vision)????

:)

Remember that in Europe we have 20% (or thereabouts) of VAT, in the USA it is consederably less (300€ for the wheel is my estimate).

I know. I was thinking about that after I posted my previous post. I don't think that it will be much higher than € 260, though, which is a very good price concidering "all the alternatives" on the market.

Especially for the PS3, they would have to drop the price if they aren't makin one specifically for consoles. Cause only the hardcore like us would by it for 299. The price alone for the PS3 is too much, they are gonna have to compensate for the accessories. Unless this thing is bluetooth. Hey! Maybe Logitech will make a steering wheel with bluetooth for GT5. That would be the ****!!! If it still had the force feedback, 900 degrees, clutch and the sweet seperate shifter.

This G25 wheel is $300, and that's with the leather and the steel. It'll probably be released for the consoles a few months before GT5 comes out, and that'll probably be late 2007. So it'll probably be released in mid-2007, and it'll be $50 cheaper. Then, it'll be using rubber instead of leather, and plastic instead of steel, so that'll drive down the price of the wheel to $200. Then most people will buy it when GT5 comes out, and by then it'll be $30 cheaper.

So really, the price of the G25 wheel will be near the DFP when GT5 is here.

I want this steering wheel for GT5 really bad, but will GT5 use a clutch? If it does, oh man, best game ever.

On that note... Will GT5 support the gated shifter?.... If it does both (which I'm a bit confident it will), then I'll be the happiest darned Sonnavabastich on earth. That is if I can save fast enough to get both a PS3 and a G25... :scared: :scared:

By the way, is there any mention if the G25 can be used on the Xbox? or if Logitech's ever gonna release a version just for it?:dunce:

Logitech released a XBOX 360 wheel (is going to shortly) but sadly no force feedback, 900 mode or stick shifter

I thought you guys in Canada had a store thats just like Best Buy, and blue like best buy. If anything, you can always order it from logitech's website. Ebayers might jump on this very quick.

Man...I'm scared. I can already tell you that I beat the living piss out of my DFP and she's been reliable, but I can definately see that shifter breaking in half lol. Anyone thing you can put a different knob on?

I think I can probably hold off until we see another wheel designed for GT again - as far as I know Logitech and PD were pretty happy with the results of their previous collaboration.

And those extra buttons on the Driving Force Pro GT edition really come in handy, even on the PC.

i mostly only use the buttons to look left and right. the shifter is supposed to have buttons on it as well as you can see in the pics.

ok after looking at this i would have to go biuld a cocpit and i hope that when using the standard shifter mode it has some resistance and isnice a fick in fick out ease of opperation i want IMERSION!!!!!!!

wow now i really can't wait to get my computer built,

custom computer 500 bucks
flat screen monitor- 300 bucks
g25 wheel- 300 bucks

damn i need to really start saving up

What they need to do, more than a clutch pedal, is make a wheel that supports multiple lock settings, so cars can reflect their real life counter parts in real time, i.e. rotation. Not every car is 900 degrees of rotation, and NO racing car is more than 270 IIRC. Multiple locks would make rotation wonderful, isntead of this watered down BS we get now with a clutch pedal that I already know is going to be less than stellar.

I wonder how many levels of sensativity it has...I can't imagine many for that price point.

the dfp even has this in a form of force feedback lock that stop it at whatever degrees you want. and many racecars have over 400degrees of lock at least.
with the g25 being an even more powerfull and smooth wheel. this force fedback lock will be more than enough. its sure to be available for the pc but i dunno if it will be implemented on the ps3.:)

Most people don't know that the lock to lock of the front wheels is more important than the lock to lock of the steering wheel. The amount of degrees, lock to lock of the wheel makes it more direct to steer or not.
If you have a short and twisty race track with some hairpins, you need more degrees at the front wheels, so you can turn in sharper. This is not done with (by) the wheel settings (in RL)

I understand that, but I want locks. There is a big difference in wheel feel from a slow "stop" when the feedback kicks in, and a definite lock.

LFS features a nice programmable "feedback lock" but I still don't prefer it to an actual lock feel, the sensation of the wheel stopping at full rotation. It's not the same.

You mean a "mechanical" full lock, you can program, instead of the software (FFB) lock we've got now (==> DFP on pc)???????

people who play lfs know this :P

Does anyone knows if this wheel is going to be the next GT and PS3 wheel???

A logical guess would yes... :D but still just an assumption really.
One can only hope that GT5 is NOT that far removed from being released when this wheel hits the market!

Keep your fingers crossed as no-one really knows at this point.

The chances of me getting a PS3 AND GT5/V:GT AND this are highly unlikely.

Im probably going to just buy the wheel then, Will GT4 be able to support the H-gate design and clutch?

No......all PS2 games will use the sequential shifting option. The clutch will only be functional in TOCA 2, TOCA 3, and Enthusia.

H-Gate and Clutch are only supported currently by PC games like NR2003, GTR, LFS, etc, etc......
